remote engine starter disables unlocking the door?
i have a remote engine starter installed to my mazda 3 2014. when i start the car remotely, i have to shut it off so i can unlock the door with the mazda fob. is this normal? i think it is ridiculous.
This is absolutely normal. If you think it's ridiculous you're welcome to call / email Mazda's engineers, because they're the ones who designed it that way.
However, you do have the option, for $40 if you've had the 1-button remote start only remote starter installed, so be able to press the start button 1 more time while remote started and that will unlock the car.
Be advised, on the '14 Mazda 3 the car WILL shut down when you unlock the door, even if you're unlocking it with the remote starter fob, this is standard operation on many Mazda push to start cars, and also Toyota and Honda push to start cars.
Contact you're local install bay if you'd like the unlock via the viper remote hooked up, it will function while the vehicle is remote started.
