Light Mouse with a very nice Click
on September 24, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
Overall this is a great mouse. Its is light, esp. compared to my Corsair mouse. It did take me a bit to get used to it, but now its hard when I help my kid and use my old mouse, it just feels heavy. I also like the mouse buttons. They have a nice click and remind me of a Cherry Blue. Not as loud, but just that nice click.
Using the mouse in either Wireless or corded I noticed no difference it was just as responsive in either mode. It was quick, and accurate for me. Of course it didn't make me better, I was still just as bad as usual, but that I can't blame the mouse.
I enjoyed how they setup the charging, made it easy to plug in and not get wrong, as well as you can use the cable to extend out the wireless dongle if you need. On the Dongle, the nice thing with Logitech is they are universal, so if you lose one, you don't lose your mouse, you can just swap in a new one.
I also enjoyed that the side buttons can be removed/configured how you want. I never use them so being able to remove them and keep the mouse simple was awesome. If you want them they can all be used or just the left or right. Configure how you want.
For left handed people this mouse can be used left handed if you desire with just a simple button swap.
Software is great they have a simple small package if you want to adjust lighting and buttons and profiles. Its just nice you don't need a huge package, they have a nice lightweight one, that can customize the mouse, though if you like the older Logitech app, that will still work too.
Overall this is a great mouse. Sure it can do 16,000 DPI but honestly unless you have 4 8K monitors, you don't need that speed, but the sensor is on point, and works great with no issues at much more normal DPI's.
Overall this is a great mouse, I love it. I still am horrible at my games, but I can't blame the mouse for it anymore.

Nice Portable Speaker
on September 22, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne

This is a perfect little pocket speaker. It is high quality with a good battery (Been running it for about 5 hours and its still going strong. Sony claims about 6 hours, so that seems around the ballpark) and light (about 160 grams per Sony). It fit nicely in my pocket so it was easy to carry. It is water resistant at IPX-5. this means if it starts raining or gets splashed it should keep on working.
The sound quailty is on par for Sony. Only difference between this and my bigger speakers from Sony is the amount of volume it can push, and its small so that is to be expected. Though I have noticed if the volume is at 100% and when I pushed some treble from classical music it got a bit tinny. Turning the sound down a few notches helped. I might have been able to adjust to via an equalizer. But that was the only "bad" artifacting I found when using the speaker. Otherwise it sounds good. If your out and about in a moderately noisy environment that might be a concern just because of the size and what it can push, but I haven't had a chance to test that. However for the price and size its a great pocket bluetooth speaker. I plan on taking it with me on trips, so when I'm in the hotel room watching movies/videos or music I can use that instead of my phones speaker or headphones.
I think overall for the form factor it does a good job of being a speaker that can produce adequate sound to fill the space nearby without overwhelming it. It give the same Sony sound quaility and the fact its light and small it makes the perfect travel speaker.

UPS that Works
on September 1, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
APC makes nice UPS. This one is nice because of the compact form that it takes and fits nicely on the floor. Since I am using this for my networking equipment I haven't tried connecting it to a PC for auto shutoff and configuration. Though I may do that in the future to mute the beeping sounds that occur when power goes out. A nice feature on this is you can mute the beep during a power outage by holding the power button down for 2 seconds. That is handy and one of the reasons why I haven't dragged a laptop over to configure the UPS.
The only downside with the compact form factor is large plugs that face right. As you can see in the picture they tried to space out the battery plugs to allow you to get the larger bricks that most home networking equipment like, but its hard to deal with plugs that just point to the right. As you can see one of my devices is blocking the now battery plugs. Keep plug size and direction in mind when planning on this UPS to make sure you have space for all the devices.
Otherwise I have no faults with this device. It works, has the ability to mute the beep when power is out and will easily provide my home network equirement with power during outages. If you need a UPS this is perfect one, as long as you keep the in mind what you are plugging in.

Easy way to keep the beard in check.

This is great. The integrated guard makes keeping the beard in order easy. That's great because I'm the summer I'm a lot shorter then the winter and not having to dig around for different guards is perfect for me. Does the job perfectly and I likr keeping things simple like this does. If you need a trimmer and don't want to miss with changing guards or losing them this is definitely the trimmer for you. The guard does pop out easily for cleaning clogs and oiling. So yay. I wish I had this years ago.

Get your Guardians of Galaxy Cosplay On
on July 27, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
If your cell phone doesn't have a headphone jack but you wanted to Cosplay Star-Lord, these are your headphones. It will give you that Guardian of the Galaxy look that you can rock without breaking the bank. But seriously let's talk about these headphones.
Setup was fairly straight forward in getting it to pair. My two big complaints in setup are the charging port is kind of a small pain (right behind the foam) to get the USB Cable into and the button to turn on and off and all that I found really hard, since it part of the headphones itself. Let's talk charging, getting the USB Cable in is doable but you have to know where to look and overall I wish they could have found a more accessible place for the charging port. Its not a deal breaker. The buttons though are annoying. I never had a pair of headphones that had a harder button to use. Remembering, pressing using was just annoying. Luckily beyond turning it on and off you can avoid using the button. But if you like controlling the music, answering etc via your headphones, you can, but its hard. Also note I didn't find any volume control. So it all depends on how loud you make it in your device.
The headphones sound fine, they aren't going to provide a rich soundstage, but they get the job done and are light, so wear issues aren't a problem. I was able to get through about 9 hours and it still had charge, so battery life on something so light is welcome.
I did notice when watching video they lagged beyond the audio. Again for music not a big deal, but watching a lot of video of people speaking you will notice the lag. Not the end of the world just can be off putting.
They aren't a bad spare pair of headphones at a great price point, that I don't mind the faults and won't cry if I misplace them on a trip etc. If you need a quick pair and want to get your Star-Lord on, these are the pair for you.

You know its great when you need more Propane
on July 6, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
You read that right, ran out of propane after getting this setup and on the grill. We were running through pizza dough just enjoying the lovely crisp brick over type pizza that I ran out of propane and had to make a run for more because this is too fun to stop. So if you want to have fun making pizza this is the thing.
**************
Setup - Setup was fairly striaght forward. Unscrew a few things, slot in the stones (can only fit one way which is nice) and screw everything back. Took us about 10 minutes. After a quick wipe down of the stone your good to go. It was nice they also included a very good wooden peel. Nice and thick and the right size, as well as a metal offset to move and rotate the pizza. That is absolutely vital and I'm glad they added it otherwise it would be much harder to pizza. Open your grill, take off the flame redirectors to help get the heat into the grill and leave it on your grill until it reaches temp.
*******************
Use - Very easy to use. I do recommend flouring the peel and the bottom of the dough before putting it on the peel. We made the pizza on the peel to save an extra move, but not necessary. The tricky part that takes a pizza is the getting the pizza off the peel and into the oven without folding it over. Did that on the first pizza, but learned my lesson and was better on everyone since then. They recommend and I agree once you get in the oven let it set for a minute for the dough to set. That did make things easier. Even if I didn't position it perfectly, I let it sit for a minute, after that the offset metal spatula made it easy to move around and rotate in the box. It only takes a few minutes to get nice and crispy pies. This makes thing simple, just have extra propane on hand before you start since you might run out.
It is solidly built and sturdy and seems it will last many pizza nights at our house. Even comes with a nice cover once it cools for storage. Only thing is its fairly heavy and you can expect for all that stone and the handles on the side I wish were a bit deeper. Thats the only knock and honestly it isn't anything that would keep me from getting it. This is an awesome device if you want a mini brick oven on your grill. We had a lot of fun and I know many more pizza nights will be had and considering how quick this turns out pizza, I just love it and I'm sure you will too.

Awesome Gaming Monitor
on June 24, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
For a TN Panel this is a great gaming monitor. Its smooth and I've been enjoying multiple games at 240hz fluidity. Well in honesty very few games can push the 240hz but with G-Sync even though my 1080Ti can't hit the frames in games (since I turn on all the details) the game play has zero tears and I didn't notice any ghosting in Doom/Destiny/Final Fantasy XV and a slew of others. If you have a nVidia card and what a good monitor this is a choice.
Normally I'd have gone for a 24" panel for 1080p, thinking 27 too big, but after an hour I can't imagine going back to my 24" monitor.
I also like the addition of a few USB3.0 ports since I'm always needing them, and while not 100 easy the headphone hanger you can add to back of the monitor is a nice bonus. It has a speaker, but don't bother.
Setup was easy, and the base it comes with is a nice solid one without taking up to much desk real estate. It was a little odd with the buttons on the back, but actually they are very easy to use, if just a tad odd.
Really had no issues with getting my PC to recognize it and detect it was a g-Sync Panel on Windows 10. It got that it could do 240hz and took the setting without an issue.
It does have a few "gamer" features like an onscreen reciticle and a few image profiles for different games, but honestly I'm not using any of them. For a TN Panel angle of viewing seems fine for me and the colors work for me. If your used to IPS, that might be an issue but for me it seems fine, and in fact I'd take a little color TN Panel issue for the smoothiness of 240hz.
If you want a fast 1080p Panel can't go wrong with this monitor.

Great Camera and stable software
on June 7, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
This is a great camera, it has a wide angle of view and has a great picture in either day or night. Setup was easy, however I already have other TPLink home automation devices so it didn't take much work to add it to my account in the application. The hardest part of the setup was remembering my WiFi password. As soon as it was setup, it was easy to schedule and on nice feature is you can set a section of the picture to alert when it detects movement in that area which is handy to reduce the number of alerts.
They have a few plans, but if you only need up to three cameras the free plan should cover your basic needs. It was also nice to see the camera come with mounting screws in case you don't want/have a place for it to stand to watch an area. I found the included cord long enough to making placing easy. Its not an outdoor camera, but as an indoor camera it has been working great that attaches to your already existing WiFi.
Additionally I like the fact it has a privacy mode where you can shut the camera off or schedule to be on during certain times.
Overall I find this to be a good camera and I'll most likely get another two to complete my set.

Wait for Version 2
on June 1, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
This is an interesting idea. A camera that will take pictures for you and allow you to focus on what is going on and not behind the lens, but it just doesn't seem there. I know some of it will come as they improve the software/firmware (hopefully) and it does have a button on the front to tell it take a picture now, but without a screen you have no idea. Also some people are going to freak out because its a camera watching, so make sure your friends and family are cool with random pictures. The camera does have a bright LED on the front to let everyone know when it's on, just not when it is taking pictures. Also be sure to read what phones the Google Clip APP works with. It doesn't work with all phones and without the App you really can't do anything with the camera.
Assuming you have everything its easy to use, and I'm sure over time it might take better pictures as it learns you and what it is focusing on, but so far it is fairly hit and miss. It is fun to just clip on my shirt pocket and walk around to see what it gets. The App has some editing to extract a picture or the motion (without sound) to your phone. Honestly it would be nice if I could just dump the raw contents directly from the device. You can't expand the storage but its 3 hour battery life I doubt you'd fill it. Most likely run out of charge first so that isn't an issue.
I think it is an interesting idea, but I think some improvements to the App/form factor and the idea are needed. The App/Idea can be software modded so if your interested, wait a bit and see what Google does with it. Maybe once more people use it and Google gets whatever data they collect they can push a software update or something so you can help train the device to take pictures that you want, not what it thinks you want.

Relive your Childhood in Analog Glory
on June 1, 2018
Posted by: OmieOne
from East Stroudsburg, PA
What to say this is an updated version of your childhood Polaroid camera. In a change from the digital cameras of today you get a bulky old school Analog camera that prints the picture right now. Updating from the original version of the camera you can charge the battery using a USB cable, and that is for the flash. That flash is bright. First time I used it was stuck on my retina for at least 10 minutes it seemed. Not quite blinding, but only by a few candles. Otherwise the film pops out with the picture. Takes a few minutes to fully develop. Its simple to use and fun. My major complaint is the cost of the film and number of shots you get. I understand this is massed produced, just know this isn't something where you will want to fire off ten shots to get that perfect framing, your going to want to get the picture framed the way you want and take just that one. Hopefully if this gets more people using it over time the cost of the film will come down. Otherwise this is a great product that reminds me of my childhood and is fun to have some more analog shots of my kids.

If you still have to have Internet service what do I need this thing for I already have a router

Well the two I can think of are: 1. If you need better/stronger wifi coverage throughout your house or 2. if you have newer devices that can use the AC wireless settings. With the Mu-Mimo, even if your devices don't support it, testing has shown that your over all wireless throughput will be better as the router can share the connection better with all devices.
