Great blender? But is it really worth it?

The Blendtec Designer Series 8-Speed Blender is a VERY impressive blender. But at a price of almost 300-400 dollars is it REALLY worth the price difference compared to other brands? I asked myself this question while putting this blender through its tests. I must say, the blender itself is very well made and the fact that it has an 8 year warranty gives me great peace of mind. But for the price point I'm not so sure it's really worth it. I think they could include a little bit better quality mixing container. Compared to the Ninja pro blender I already have in the house I think the top lid is pretty cheap. The ninja came with a lock on lid and a spoon to help loosen things if need be. Now I must say that I think the Blendtec is much more powerful, so maybe it doesn't need a spoon but for what I really use it for which is mostly milkshakes and smoothies I believe both are comparable. I think the difference could be grinding up a huge amount of items that could possibly overwhelm the Ninja. I think the Blendtec is a fantastic blender and the smoothies I've made so far have been creamy and delicious. But I always wonder why with some of the company's pre made settings that they insist on blending something for so long. For example the smoothie setting is 60 seconds. After about 15-20 i would consider it to be completely blended and anything else is overkill. Not sure if they're thinking you are making smoothies for 6, but it seems like a lot of unnecessary blending. Luckily you can manually do whatever you like, but sometimes i feel like companies try to overcomplicate the blending process. I think this blender is great and I can't wait to use the recipes they include and really explore this blender more. But for me I probably would save your money and get a comparable blender at about half the price and add in an additional item like an espresso machine or something!

Great Home Camera and Security System

Arlo - Pro 2 Security Camera System, 2-Camera Kit is a very impressive setup! I was really impressed with how quickly I was up and running. It only took about 10 minutes total to pair the cameras and get everything setup. The batteries for the wireless cameras are great and adds a ton of flexibility when it comes to placement of the cameras themselves. Usually I steer clear of systems like this because the wireless technology was just not there yet, but the Arlo exceeds my expectations. The app is user friendly and provides a lot of different options for your recordings and live feeds. I found the video to be crisp and clear. My dog has been chewing my shoes lately so it'll be nice to catch her in the act and see what exactly she does when I'm not home! I haven't really explored too much of the security side yet because I haven't needed too, but I imagine it will work great if the time ever comes. I also like the fact that you can add more cameras so seamlessly if i wanted to in the future. Overall I think this is a great home monitoring system for the money. The videos are crisp and clear and provide a multitude of different options to record review and store. The one thing I do wish is with the price you pay for these types of devices why they don't include more "cloud storage" for your videos without having to pay a monthly fee. Spending 500 dollars on a home recording system should be enough to at least record a months worth of video at a time. Other than that I absolutely love the Arlo Pro 2

Great speaker with a few flaws

Ultimate Ears - MEGABLAST Smart Portable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Speaker is definitely a contender for one of the best bluetooth speakers I've ever heard. The sound is crisp, clear, and LOUD. Louder than any other speaker I feel like I've tested. The nice thing about the speaker is that even though it reaches unreached levels of sound, it doesn't get too blown out at the higher levels. Sometimes static and fuzz can occur and I hear none of it. Like the new Bose speakers, the sound is projected in a circular fashion which I absolutely love. Being able to hear the music from any part of the room as if you were right next to it is a great accomplishment. The packaging on the speaker is slick and the unit itself is very robust and heavy. I like the fact that the speaker is waterproof, but it will be a while before I put that to the test. The only real thing that bugged me about the speaker is the APP that the company forces you to use to setup the device. I had issues getting it to recognize the speaker, installing the updates and even pairing with WIFI. Repeatedly I had to restart the app and sometimes it just would not pair with the device at all. Finally I just got it to pair with bluetooth and turned off the app, so as of now I don't use the Alexa function. I don't really use Alexa so it's not a big deal to me, but the hassle from the app itself makes me not even want to try and finish the process. So that to me is the only real detriment to the device. Other than that I think it is a great quality speaker that competes with any of the other bluetooth speakers I've heard out in today's market. You can't go wrong with this one, but I hope they update and fix the bugs in the App soon, cause it hurts the experience!

Decent Vacuum for the Money

Hoover is a name that synonymous with Vacuums and has been for a long time. I grew up using Hoovers and only recently have started to branch out into the other brands like Dyson and Shark. The Dyson vacuum i have in the house is a standard vacuum so this was a product that fills a different need.
The vacuum itself came with a lot of different attachments than most vacuums included a powered stair cleaner that I find very useful. The unit itself is lightweight and it provides decent suction power. The one thing I did notice is the wheels on the main suction unit are very squeaky. So as I push the vacuum around it's actually louder than the suction itself and makes it feel like I'm kinda pushing around an old toy vacuum. Not really sure if that was a design flaw with my unit or not but I immediately noticed it and it's very distracting and makes the vacuum feel cheap. The suction power itself of the vacuum is good, but i also noticed the unit doesn't stand up by itself. So i have to lean it against something or drill a hole in my wall. Also the battery charger looks like a small bluetooth speaker, which makes the storage of the vacuum itself a little cumbersome. I do appreciate the functionality of the unit in that I can easily use it like a dustbuster or clean hard to reach places above me all with the same unit. I use it quite often in my car to get out crumbs in the seats or clean the trunk which is something that was previously reserved for my shopvac. I did notice is the dust container gets full very quickly and seems to bind up with a lot of the pet hair you collect. I had to actually stick something in the cleaning unit itself to get rid of all the hairs. Overall I feel like the unit is pretty good, but for $300 dollars I feel like you have a lot of different options, and I'm not so sure that this Hoover model would be my first choice. There are similiar products from different brands in the same price range, I would just recommend doing your homework before you buy and be happy with the functional things you're going to use the most.

Decent Bluetooth Headphones for the Price

The Plantronics - Backbeat FIT 305 Wireless In-Ear Headphones are a good choice if you want a basic but lightweight option for in ear bluetooth workout headphones. The sound quality didn't wow me compared to other models i've tried like the Beats Powerbeats and the Sony Wireless Models, but it was good enough for the price point. The only wires on the headset are a bungee, style cord that doesn't seem to bind up and seems like it will hold up well over time. I've had iphone cords made of the same material and they were some of the best types of cords that I had. The headphones themselves were super easy to pair with my iphone and i appreciated the soft case it came with but the overall packaging could have been a bit nicer. It comes with replaceable and different size ear buds as well. The one thing I did notice is how light the headphones were. Because of this I think they would be ideal for runners or someone who is looking for headphones that feel like they aren't even there. Overall I give them a 4 out of 5 because they don't compare soundwise to other competitors, but they make up for it in other areas.

Philips Norelco - OneBlade Pro Wet/Dry Trimmer is an interesting product. It's not meant to be an everyday shaver, instead more of a trimmer and stylist of your beard and mustache. The unit itself is lightweight but feels a tad cheap with all the plastic parts, but for the price point that can be expected. It charges fairly fast and has a digital screen to show charge capacity. The trimmer itself holds its battery for quite some time. I only use it for about 5-10 minutes at a time, after about a week or so of doing this I still had well over a half a charge. You can make minute adjustments by turning the dial to the height you prefer. It doesn't get as close as a razor, but it does a great job in a pinch. I like the fact that is has international compatibility. Also the wet/dry option is nice as well. The only downside I really don't like about the trimmer is the fact that the blade itself needs to be replaced every few months.
All in all I would recommend this product to someone who's looking for a small portable trimmer/shaver that will work on your 5 o clock stubble but not necessarily give the full shave of a razor.

Very impressive set of wireless headphones

Usually I am not a big fan of headphones that go around your neck, but the Sony 1000X Premium Wireless Noise Cancelling are a home run in my opinion. They provide amazing quality sound with a plethora of options at your disposal for any situation you might need. The app that accompanies the product is fleshed out and feels robust.
Sound: The most important aspect to me about any pair of headphones is the sound and I have to say I am very impressed by Sony's performance. I have shyed away from the brand for the last 10 years or so, choosing to go the beats route, but honestly these are just as good as a pair of beats if not better. I actually chose to use these the other day over my Wireless Powerbeats. The noise cancelling portion of it is really nice as well if you want to drown out other noises. I will be curious to see how these hold up on an airplane with all the ambient noise. All in all I would give the sound a 10/10.
Packaging: The headphones came in a nice well thought out package. I like that they included the airplanes plugin so that my headphone would work on a plane as well. The headphones also came with a carrying case. Although I thought it would have been a little bit nicer to have a hard case. I wouldn't trust storing my headphones in the flimsy case that was provided. They also included many different size ear pieces although the one that came included on the headphones fit my ears perfectly.
Battery Life: One of the most important things for me about wireless headphones is battery life. Because these have a noise cancelling aspect to them I predicted the battery life would suffer, but I was presently surprised to see that these headphones went the distance. The longest continuous use i've gotten out of them so far is almost 12 hours of solid music play. That's a solid number for a headset that can double as a noise cancelling seat on an airplane. The unit itself charges fairly fast as well which I was also impressed with.
All in all I really recommend these headphones to anyone. They provide good sound, good battery life and they're lightweight but feel solid and robust.

The Acer 27 inch monitor is a great little monitor for the price. The screen is crisp and bright and has a good anti glare coating on it. The monitor itself is lightweight and easy to setup. It only took me a minute or two to get everything up and running. There are 3 inputs in the monitor, VGA, HDMI, and DVI, so whatever computer you have the monitor will be compatible. I thought it was a little cheap of them to not include an HDMI cable, considering how inexpensive they're nowadays. The resolution on the screen itself is solid. I am currently using it as a secondary monitor in a pc setup. I am a photographer so it's nice to have the extra added real estate now to watch a movie while I edit. My laptop seems to handle the extra monitor no problem as well. Overall the monitor is a solid purchase for the price. You're getting what you expect at the 200 dollar price point. I would definitely recommend this to someone who is looking for a no nonsense monitor with not a ton of upgrades but will get the job done!

I was really excited to get this blender because I love making smoothies every morning. I recently was thinking of creating my own home smoothie bar and I now have the perfect blender for my station! When I say this is by far the most solid blender I've ever come across for home use I mean it. There may be bigger and better models, but for the price this thing is hands down the best I've ever owned. It replaced a kitchen aid blender if that tells you anything. The blender container itself is super solid, and easy to clean. There's a nice lock down latch or a hole in the middle to prod at food that is stuck. The blender portion locks into the base and honestly is one of my favorite parts of the blending process. Locking it down just FEELS good. The blender itself has a bunch of different "IQ" settings for different items. I personally haven't tried all that they have to offer, I only have used the smoothie setting so far. The smoothie setting does a great job, but it blends it for over 30 seconds, which imo is overkill. It does a great job breaking up the ice in the beginning but about halfway through the process could be considered completed. With that in mind I either just shut it off early or switch to manual blend. There is a cleaning function as well that works really well to clean the inside of the blender. The display itself is very slick and easy to use. The only thing I did notice is the blender tends to give off a burnt smell when blending for a while. I'm not sure if that's because it's new and breaking in or if it'll always smell like that, but it is something i noticed. To be honest though it didn't bother me enough to rate this blender any lower. The smoothies come out delicious every time and that's all I care about. All in all I am very pleased with this blender and would recommend it to anyone looking for a very solid blender that almost feels like a borderline professional smoothie machine. This thing is a BEAST and I look forward to many more great smoothies!

Great keyboard for your Ipad!

I am really impressed with the Brydge line of keyboards for my Ipad Pro. This device far exceeded my expectations of a bluetooth keyboard. I've had experience with them in the past and they are sub par at best with slow response time and flimsy design. I also am not a fan of the keyboards apple has put out because they don't provide enough protection for your ipad.. The brydge feels solid. Almost like the Ipad was made to be a laptop. The bluetooth connects instantly and the keyboard feels solid and responsive and lag free. It closes well so the ipad doesn't feel like it will be scratched and makes traveling with the two of them together a breeze. All in all I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a bluetooth keyboard for the Ipad pro that is reliable and sturdy.

By now everyone knows about the commuter and defender otterbox series. The otterbox has recently gotten sleeker, shedding alot of the extra bulk from previous generations, so I decided to go with this model for my Iphone 6. It fits the phone nicely, the only gripe I have with the case is there is a little bit of wiggle room at the top kind of like a gap between the hard and soft plastic. I'm not sure if this is true to all the commuters, I may go back tomorrow and try and find another commuter that might fit better.

Opted for the Symmetry

After having this case for almost a week now and the gap between the plastic not going away I decided to go check out the symmetry series. Although it doesn't have the screen protector, and the hole for the Apple logo on the back, I actually feel like the symmetry is sturdier and sleeker than the commuter.
On a side note I spoke with Otterbox about the commuter to see if maybe the case wasn't supposed to have the gap and it was a manufacturing issue. She said they had more than a few reports about it, and that they are looking into whether or not they need to make a change or whether it was a certain supplier that had the error. She told me to hold onto my case and check back in a few months and that if they made any adjustments they would gladly replace it for free. So worst case scenario you buy the case, it has a slight droop in it for a few months while you wait for Otterbox to perfect the case and then you call in and get a replacement for free because they already know about the issue.

Yes it can support up to 5. But with 3 you can cover a 6000sq ft house. So unless you live in a huge house you don't really need more than 3.
