Quality Easy To Use Air Fryer
on September 15, 2021

Air fryers use hot air to crisp up wings, fries, veggies and more recipes with little or no oil. They produce a nice "fried" finish that a microwave cannot do and more convenient than using an oven. Cooking with an air fryer is considered healthier since it cooks at a fraction of the calories and fat of traditional cooking methods, like deep frying with a ton of oil. The food cooks and reheats quickly so this could replace your microwave, and this particular model has additional modes such as broil, bake, roast and more. Some other bell and whistles are a see thru panel to view food while cooking, a user-friendly digital touch screen display and Integrated 60-minutes auto shutoff timer that notifies you to turn the food with audible tone.
The Sensio Bella Pro 5.3 QT See Thru Touchscreen is well built and seems to be a quality traditional, basket-style air fryer. It gets high marks for ease of use, thanks to its easy to use and read buttons, good owner’s manual. While cooking the 4.2-pound capacity basket slid in and out easily, ceramic interior and removable tray is nonstick. The tray also fits snugly with rubber bumpers, so you don’t have to worry about it falling out. Both tray and basket are dishwasher safe and easy to clean. The 1700-WATT HEATING SYSTEM cooks faster than my prior air fryer, chicken wings (pictured) only took 12 minutes on the air fryer preset while it takes 18-20 minutes on the old one. Therefore, being able to see inside is important to avoid burning the food. Easy to operate when you cook, just depress the menu button until your desired preset lights up, for example: when I select air fry all other presets will turn off while air fry is lighted. Select time and temperature then start button and that’s it. The device is very quiet when cooking and outer shell stays cool except for the back exhaust fan area. Out of the 7 presets, I tried air fry, bake and french fry options, on air fry and french fry It produced crispy on even frozen fries, homemade fries and chicken wings that were moist on the inside. On bake I cooked a potato wrap in aluminum foil that came out perfect.
Overall, a good product that’s a better alternative than using an oven on a hot day (I use my air fryer at least 3 times a week) and prepares meals quickly with less clean up with dealing with pots. The only gripe I have is the recipes on the web page that are few and lackluster, but I have other sources for recipes so not a deal breaker.

Nice Ultrabook

The Dell Inspiron 5000 is geared for office professionals, students and the folks who wants a fast premium feeling laptop that is affordable. It is a 2-in-1 convertible touchscreen laptop with optional support for an active stylus pen and powered by Intel’s latest 11th generation CPU that is speedy.

Build quality wise; case has a metal looking finish that has a good grip while holding. The aluminum top lid is sturdy and has a solid feeling, while the rest is plastic, laptop is built strong with minimal flex on its body. Hinges are rigid and built to last. This is a good combination that keeps it lightweight but sturdy at 3.5 lbs. In summary, this is just a very well-built device that should provide long term durability.
Typing experience is good with decent travel and has a clicky feedback. Hands are comfortable while resting on aluminum keyboard that shows no flex during typing. The keyboard has a fingerprint on power button that quickly logs you in. It also has an adjustable backlight on keys. Trackpad is large (I prefer a large trackpad) with good response on gestures and scrolling, trackpad feels like glass but cannot confirm this?
Display is a FHD (1920x1080) IPS glossy touch screen at 60Hz with Wide Viewing Angle technology, 157 PPI, 212 nits in brightness. Does not have a wide color gamut but some color options can be adjusted with the Ceinma Color program. Display has 64% sRGB and supports stylus pen that is not included. (PN350M) I like a matte screen versus a glossy one due to the reflections and glare that glossy screens produce in bright environment. Also, the LCD is a little too dim in brightness for my taste but would be fine for others who are indoors with normal lighting situations. With all that said, screen is sharp (slightly above average) and colors look good on pics, web sites and videos. General users will find the screen just fine while photographers, content creators would want a color accurate screen. The display cover will prop up keyboard section slightly in laptop mode for better typing experience and air flow.
Laptop performance is smooth and snappy with the 11th gen CPU, fast 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD and 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM for most on general functions like web browsing, office logistics and even some light gaming. The device is upgradable with 2 ram slots (no soldered ram Wohoo!) but only one M.2 SSD slot. Current ram configuration is 4GB in each slot for a dual channel setup. (fastest setup) Power users may consider upgrading to the max 16GB of ram or a more budget friendly option of just 12GB by just adding an 8GB module to support heaver multitasking. Boot time is sec’s and the fact this laptop can handle these tasks with ease makes it a solid performer in this class. Another nice thing is that the integrated Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics can do some gaming on lower settings is a bonus for occasional gamers.
During normal laptop usage it does not get too warm and remains quiet but does get hot under load but tolerable with louder fan noise.
On ports you get 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, 1 USB-C USB 3.2 Gen 2 port with Power Delivery + DisplayPort, 1 headset (headphone and microphone combo) port, 1 HDMI 1.4a port and 1 microSD-card slot.
The webcam delivers a 720p resolution for video calls and has a privacy cover switch. Webcam is pretty much just average but does the job for my needs.
Sound actually gets loud on these small bottom firing speakers stay crisp at max level. Overall sound quality is very good.
I managed to get 6.27 hours of battery life on 54 Wh, 4-cell battery and 50% brightness with mix usage of browsing, videos and editing documents.

Out of this world gaming

The Alienware X15 are for folks who appreciate the ultimate in a thin gaming laptop. I expect this gaming laptop to have excellent progress in performance, display quality, battery life, and build quality on a premium level. This is my first Alienware product and based on reputation, I’m pretty excited about it but no laptop is perfect so will go over its strengths and weaknesses.
SETUP: Initial setup is quick as you create an account name and password, then your prompt to setup Windows Hello that logs you in with face recognition via web cam. (really liked this feature) Once logged in after all the privacy policies, updated Windows and got an error after a couple of reboots that stated that a driver installed was better than the Windows driver, ignored it then updated with Alienware Update app which updated 5 apps and took awhile to install them. There is a bios update (08/11/2021) that I could not update via the app, but you can update manually by clicking on the blue up arrow on the end within the app. Overall, the update software is not as streamline as I’m used to, but it does work. On the Windows update error I just clicked on retry and it installed the remaining drivers without any issue. After I did all that, I get a pop-up notification from the Dell Support Assist app and realized I probably could have use this to install the proprietary software, oh well. Attempted to install Geforce Graphics driver and got an error message which is common for this driver since I get this on other laptops, you just reboot and reopen the app to install. The Alienware Command Center app UI is a bit clunky and would not detect games from Game Pass on auto scan to set up performance profiles, but I prefer to use Geforce for that anyways.
BUILD QUALITY: It has a slim very modern design body made of metal (CNC aluminum and magnesium alloy) with outer surface being white textured paint, this with the Alienware logo, RGB lights, number 15 graphics on the lid gives this laptop a strikingly unique presentation visually. When I first unboxed it, noticed how sturdy and well-built it felt in my hands, hinges are stiff while the rest of body is free of any flex or bending. Overall, this thin and lightweight (5 lbs) just screams quality gaming laptop in its design and build.

This laptop offers a free trial to Xbox’s Game Pass so you can try out games and see how they play. Even if you’re not interested in a long-term subscription, you can try out unrestricted games for free before buying them.
PERFORMANCE & THERMALS: The Alienware X15 will generally handle anything you throw at it from heavy multi-tasking to intensive photo/video programs and let’s not forget the star of the show: cpu/gpu intensive gaming. Thinner laptops usually struggle with heat management, but Alienware’s Quad Fan systems moves a lot of air on its components and has the new “Element 31 thermal interface material” that provides better thermal heat resistance than previous Alienware laptops. During general tasks the CPU temp is around 65-70C with the bottom of laptop getting warm with some hotter spots in the middle and towards the back main exhaust, fans are fairly quiet. On keyboard area there are no hot spots on keys or palm area, but top exhaust gets hot and the opposite sides of exhaust vents also. In gaming the bottom gets hot on your lap, not unbearable but you will notice it. Temps for the CPU while gaming was 80-88C and GPU at 77C while nose is high pitch whine sound that’s not too loud.
GAMING PERFORMANCE: This laptop does not have a Mux Switch but does have Advanced Optimus that can disabled in bios. (Enable Hybrid Graphics/ Advance Optimus) With this disabled your looking at a 10% increase on graphic card but with battery life dramatically decreased. The GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile 8GB dedicated card has a TGP of 90-110 W. The Control game is good benchmark since it gives a graphic card a run for its money on high settings, most lower end cards can’t get past 30 FPS on high so the fact that this laptop can run it with ray tracing/w DLSS in the 80’s is impressive. Of course, you can tweak the settings for better frame rates such as lowering ray tracing to medium or just turn it off.
KEYBOARD: Keys offer a good typing experience with decent travel and fairly quiet keystrokes; however, on keyboard layout the right shift key is in slightly different position than I’m used to. Secondary functions on keys are hard to see in a dim light environment. The smaller touchpad is Premium Precision Glass with multi-touch gesture and integrated scrolling that is a smooth and responsive experience when using it.
PORTS: 1 Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 1 Port, with PowerShare 2, 1 Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 2 Port, with Power Delivery (5V/3A), 1 Type-C Thunderbolt 4 / USB 3.2 Gen 2 Port, with Power Delivery (5V/3A), 1 MicroSD Card Slot, 1 HDMI 2.1 Output Port.
DISPLAY: The matte IPS LCD screen on this laptop is FHD 1920x1080 Wide Viewing Angle with max brightness around 300 nits, 360HZ refresh rate, 141 ppi, 16.9 aspect ratio, G-SYNC, Advanced Optimus, 100% sRGB, Response time 10 ms. Screen is just gorgeous with vibrant colors and clear, sharp images.
SOUND: Speakers are fair and get loud enough at less, I watch YouTube videos with sound level at 67%.
WEBCAM: Just your average 720p camera, the best thing about this camera is the IR features that use the Windows Hello option.
WIFI: The Killer 1675x Wi-Fi 6 (WiFi 802.11ax) card speed test was 470 Mbps on my 400 Mbps plan. Connection was stable with no drops. Note: I have the newest router from my ISP that supports and is optimal for 802.11ax speeds, so speeds will vary on older routers.
UPGRADABLE: One M.2 2230/2280 slot is open for additional SSD. Ram is 16 GB, 2 x 8 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz, dual-channel is soldered on board so ram cannot be upgraded, not a deal breaker for me but may be for some.
BATTERY LIFE: I got around 6 hours and 40 minutes with mixed usage of browsing and YouTube.

The conservative style of the laptop is modern without screaming that it's a gaming with branding or flamboyant colors. I partially like this since you bring it into a professional office environment. The laptop has a high-quality feel to it and in a form factor that is easy to carry or dropped into a bag. Laptop LCD lid has a slight flex with sturdy hinges and on the rest of the body there is no flex at all. Very light weight, thin and portable at 3.64 lbs which makes this a go to device for work or play.
Performance is more than enough for regular users, thanks to a powerful Ryzen 7 (R7-5800HS) CPU, fast SSD (M2) & dual channel 16GB DDR4 3200MHZ ram. I’m a bit of power user doing the with more than 25 tabs open on the browser, light video and picture editing for presentations, multiple spread sheets/documents open at the same time with everything quick and snappy. Multitasking with apps and casual gaming will not be a problem on this unit.

The LCD screen top is slightly longer and when you open the laptop, it props the keyboard upwards. This causes the keyboard to tilt which in turns improves the typing and allowing more air flow to the laptop on a flat surface. Typing on it is comfortable to use with no flex while depressing keys, travel is reasonable with a mushy feedback feel to it but responsive. Keyboard’s adjustable backlight is ok, but I do wish it was a little brighter on its highest setting. The touchpad is small but precise and smooth with Windows Precision drivers; two scrolling and gestures are good.
Laptop’s screen is a IPS matte 14-inch, 157 PPI, 1920x1080, 60HZ. 16:9, 320 nits in brightness, display has 97% sRGB & Adobe RGB profile 75.3%. The screen has a wide color gamut that is accurate which is a factor why media viewing & gaming looks good on this bright screen.
Sound volume is loud enough at 80% and quality wise, not bad for thin ultra-book speakers but don’t expect deep bass.
Ports: 1x Type C USB 3.2 Gen 2 with Power Delivery, Display Port and G-Sync / 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C / 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A / 1x 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack.
Thermals are good with CPU temp at 56C during general browsing and YouTube, fan running were quiet, and bottom of laptop got warm with spots by the top exhaust on the keyboard being slightly hot. During gaming CPU got to 79C. Laptop bottom heat is not unbearable during long play sessions and fan noise is not too loud on load.
Battery life on the 76 Wh battery was 7.20 hrs which is above average when compared to other gaming laptops. You will definitely get through a full work/school day with this laptop.

Good gaming & large screen
on August 2, 2021

My current gaming laptop just died last week so a replacement with a better & bigger LCD, newer graphics card is surly welcomed. Also looking at good heat management, decent typing experience, good amount ports and adequate sound from speakers. The Asus Tuf F17 affordable gaming laptop manages to strike the right balance between performance and value. It has strong 1080p performance, tough build quality, and large selection of ports that will win over the majority of folks.
Games & Performance, since gaming is the main reason why most are buying this laptop let’s address it first, while this gaming laptop does not have the most powerful tech GPU wise but does offers excellent performance with modern games at this price point.
Note: I added additional 8 gigs of ram for a total of 16 gigs: Crucial RAM 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz & another SSD. This was easy to do on this model with the extra open ram and SSD slots very accessible on mother board.
This laptop offers a free trial to Game Pass so you can try out games and see how they play. Even if you’re not interested in a long-term subscription, you can try out full games for free before buying them.

Geekbench 5 (Single Core) 1381
Geekbench 5 (Multi Core) 5977
PC MARK 10 score: 5758
[PCMark 10 test simulates different real-world productivity and content-creation workflows. It is used to test overall system performance for office-centric tasks such as word processing, spreadsheet jockeying, web browsing, and videoconferencing.]
As you can see, the graphically demanding game like Control runs at 84 fps (frames per second) with DLSS. A bit of tweaking with settings, you’ll get it to play over the magic 60fps mark, while still looking fantastic and on some newer games like Doom Eternal you have to set the textures to medium while leaving everything else on high because the 3050ti vram is 4GB and the game requires more vram with high textures. With less graphic intensive games, like Apex Legends or Fortnite, you’re going to be able to really take advantage of the 144Hz screen for fast and responsive gameplay. Having premium technologies like ray tracing & DLSS options on an entry level video card is awesome, some games do benefit visually and have increased framerates, these options future proofs your system since many game developers will add these features in newer games.
General performance is quite good while system boots up in 11 seconds and the intel 11th Generation Core i5 is capable of multitasking various programs and more intensive tasks. The Asus Tuf is quick and responsive as I had 15 tabs open in Brave Browser, converting videos with Handbrake and watching YouTube at the same time with no noticeable slow down. (I should note that adding additional ram is a factor in this also)

CPU temp stays around 60C during general tasks like browsing, watching videos etc. Laptop bottom only gets slightly warm compared to prior laptop that got hot during these tasks, so air flow with vent design seems good. Gaming CPU temp was 68-72C on heavy loads, laptop gets hot under load but not too bad.
Under regular task the fan noise is barely noticeable and does not get very loud at all on load.
After initial Windows setup I went to the MyAsus App which informed me of a Bios update, after installing new Bios and reboot had no problems, went to the Geforce Experience App to update video drivers and had an issue of them not installing properly, got the blue screen of death. This was my fault because I should have update Windows first before the video drivers. After the long process of Windows update Geforce video drivers updated without issue.
The Asus Tuf laptop emphasis build quality and durability at the forefront of its design. The result of this gives you a well-built and sturdy laptop with stiff hinges, metal on top of LCD screen and no flex on the keyboard while depressing keys. It has a modern industrial look to it that’s certainly a design that doesn’t dispute the fact that this is a gaming machine, but it’s not completely overdone with bright flashy colors either and if you’d like to give it some more of a gamer’s look, the Asus TUF comes with a sheet of stickers. I should add that this laptop, although bigger, is lighter (5.73 lbs) than my last 15 -inch laptop.
The laptop is thicker than other laptops (which I prefer due to better air flow & heat dissipation) and this design also allows a decent number of ports, with an Ethernet port, HDMI, two standard USB ports and a USB-C port on the left-hand side, along with a port to plug in the power supply, while on the right-hand side there’s another standard USB.
The matte IPS LCD screen on this laptop is 1080p (1920x1080) with max brightness around 270 nits with 144HZ refresh rate, 127 ppi, 16.9 aspect ratio and Adaptive Sync. Videos, games and browsing all look good but screen does not have a wide color gamut so colors may not be as accurate as some other screens. Display test results: Contrast 831:1 - sRGB color space 60% - Adobe RGB profile 47.3% - DCI-P3 color gamut 40.1% - Response time 27 ms. I do enjoy having a bigger 17-inch though since a larger screen is good for the type of work I do, and gaming of course benefits from this as well.
My last laptop also did not have a webcam so the fact that this does with a decent quality 720p one is a bonus since now I can do work Zoom calls in my living room.
Typing experience is excellent with keystrokes having good travel, clicks are precise with keys being spaced out nicely and comfortable, plus the added number keys really helps me work wised. Typing noise is at a minimal except for some keys like the space bar which has a clicky and audible feedback. I got use to typing on this keyboard right away. RGB light are nice also and are controlled via the Armory Crate App, backlight brightness on keys can be made very bright or low if you wish. Touch pad is responsive, good gestures and two finger scrolling (Windows Precision Drivers) but is a lot smaller than the larger trackpads I am used to and picks up the oils from your fingers rather easily.
The Wi-Fi 6 card is just phenomenal with speeds up to 473 Mbps blowing away my prior laptop that only got 270 Mbps. Wi-Fi connection has been stable with no drops.
Battery life is around 5.30 hours with general web browsing and YouTube viewing with battery saver mode enabled, battery type is a Li-Ion 3 cell 48WH. The battery life is not really a deal breaker for me since using it at home mostly.
Sound does not get very loud even on max with sound quality just being average, I tried tweaking the sound options in Armory Crate App in effort to increase sound and didn’t notice any difference.
Final thought & gripes, great laptop for gaming and light to medium productive work. The 17-inch laptop serves well as desktop replacement but still portable enough for Lan parties. Everything is just better with a bigger screen, more real estate on web pages and gaming. Gaming performance is not bad with card having certain tech options that future games will utilize. This is a quality build device with a good typing experience that can handle modern games. Overall, this is a killer system for gamers on a budget who wants a bigger screen and gaming is a primary concern regarding this laptop for me, so I can overlook some of the short comings.
Gripes: I was expecting a bigger battery on such a large laptop and not the supplied 3 cell 48WH so battery life is a little below average, Touchpad kind of small for my taste, average speakers, colors on screen not very accurate, no Micro SD card slot.

This USB drive provides 256GB of storage with a 3.1 Gen 1 USB Type-C interface (backward compatible with USB 2.0) that claims speeds up to 150 Mbps on file transfers. Has encryption software to protect your files and a 1-year subscription for RescuePro file recovery
The USB is small and lightweight with build quality being plastic that feels a bit flimsy, it has a slider that covers the USB C port when you pull down on the button and a loophole to attach your keychain to. I would have felt better if the outer case were made from metal or a more durable plastic before I would attach this to my keys.
Could not achieve any were near the advertised 150 Mbsp on file transfers that averaged around 60 Mbsp on my tests (pictured) when trying on two different computers. Also tried older USB Type-A drives on the same computers and got speeds over 100 Mbsp on them, so it is strange that the newer Sandisk does not get these speeds?
Software wise the drive has a PDF with instructions on how to install the Android app (SanDisk Memory Zone) on your phone that lets you browse, backup, organize and store files between internal memory, microSD cards and SanDisk Drives. Memory Zone provides access to popular online storage services allowing users to easily move files between local storage and cloud storage locations. It also has an APK file on drive to install the software directly to your phone. There is no mention on how to get the advertised encryption software. I had to Google search (or in my case Duckduckgo) to the download page for SanDisk SecureAccess 3.02: https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2399/~/sandisk-secureaccess-3.02-support-information-and-download-page You run the software from within the flash drive and it provides 128-bit AES encryption which I use to encrypt my personnel and work files. It is easy to set up and very nice overall.
My final thought on this product is that it is a bit slow for a newer USB, but I may just a have faulty drive? The software makes up for the faults of the flash drive with backing up your phone and encryption options.

Quality Headphones with a few bugs
on June 30, 2021
Posted by: Mrbell1970

So many of us are working from home these days, and a good premium headset is vital for productivity on Zoom calls or similar apps. Things I am looking for are comfortable headsets with decent sound on both video and phone calls. The ability to connect to multiple devices.
Setup is done by following directions on box that prompts you to use a USB dongle and connect to the computer, this will connect your headset automatically; although you can connect the headset via Bluetooth without the dongle if you wish. The instructions have a URL to download software called Logi Tune, unfornatelly the links opens up the general Logitech web site where you have to click a few links to get to the software (I hate that) the direct links is here: https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403418820119-Download-Zone-900-Bluetooth-Headset The Logi Tune installed without issue and I first checked the firmware for any updates, it was up to date. You can also download the Logi Tune for your phone (Android or IOS) that gives you same features as the desktop app like turn on/off mute, ANC, and voice prompts. It has an equalizer. It allows you to control the level of sidetone (the volume of your own voice in the headset). It lets you adjust how long before your headset automatically turns off due to inactivity. It allows you to update the firmware of your headset. It displays various info such as which devices are connected, battery level, but I could not get it to work because the app will not detect the headphones via Bluetooth and is stuck on the “Let’s connect” screen. (pictured) I checked prior reviews in app store, and many people reported this. According to Logitech, in response to reviews, the problem was solved, but this model of headphones is new to the market so more than likely this can be fixed with a software update. Another issue is that media such as videos and music will not play while headphones are connected to Android phone (Moto G Power, Android 11). I tried general trouble shooting such as rebooting the phone, turning off then on the media settings for the device, forgetting the device and reconnecting via Bluetooth, etc. YouTube videos and apps like Spotify, Amazon Music just would not play which is not a deal breaker for me since I mainly use it for work calls.
Video calls are outstanding with crisp and clear voice quality and the Advanced Noise-Canceling works well by blocking out outside noises for you on the headset and on the mic so others on the Zoom call do not hear those noises ether. On phone calls the feedback was mixed, some said the sound was clear while others calmed, I sounded better before. The headphones are comfortable wearing for long periods and are not too tight on the ears, a concern for folks like me who wears glasses, also they are light weight with a mostly metal construction that seems durable. Mic quality is excellent as others reported that I came in quite clear on video calls. Flipping the mic up to mute is a nice feature that I use quite often and the voice prompts that inform you of power, battery life, connections are nice as well. The headphones can connect to multiple devices like the desktop, tablet and phone (in my case) that automatically switches seamlessly between them. Headphone has physical buttons such as power button that can be used for pairing if held down, Noise cancellation button (ANC) Volume control and multi-purpose button that accept/reject calls, hang up, play/pause music, skip tracks forward/backward, invoke Siri/Google Voice, and check battery level.
Battery life is great as I get through a workday with plenty of battery life left and has quick Qi charge that gives you 1 hour playback on a 5-minute charge.
Overall, these will do for what I need but do have some software bugs were the Android app is not working plus cannot play video or music via phone.

We’re bringing Quantum Dot Color to the people. Enjoy over one billion colors, without worrying about how many commas are on the price tag. You’re welcome. The U6G also has 4K resolution, Dolby Vision HDR and Full Array Local Dimming Zones. Sounds like science, looks like a way more expensive set. Especially with a quad-core processor managing all the algorithms that add up to more colors, more precision and more ooohhh.

Cord cutters with antenna
on June 30, 2021
Posted by: Mrbell1970

I am coming from a 43-inch 1080p HDTV and a wanted a 4K smart TV to replace it, a 50 inch seems to be a good size for the bedroom. Things that are important to me are a good picture with decent upscaling for 720p and 1080i content, Since I am a cord cutter need a decent Over-The-Air tuner. I watch antenna TV shows mostly (stream like 40% of the time) and want good smart TV options with responsive UI. I had an issue with the first TV received so exchanged it for a replacement that worked fine.
Setup is easy as you connect to your WI-FI network and log in to your Google account. There is a method that allows you to quickly copy network settings from your phone to TV, but certain routers will not allow it (like mines) so had to enter it manually via the remote. I got to a consent screen for Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) this automatically adjusts picture settings to the content you are watching; it also sends data of what you watch for targeted advertisements. Most would not consent to this, but I was curious on how it handled picture settings so tried it out. On most content like over the air news shows, sitcoms were ok but on movies it was too dim (I like everything to be bright) and sometimes it would change picture settings 5 minutes later after watching, so it is not perfect. Ended up disabling ACR and manually adjusted my picture settings for OTA antenna content. (pictured)
Over the air upscaling on 720p and 1080i is good, the picture is very clear and bright with vibrant colors while 480i upscaled content is just ok. The ATSC 2.0 HDTV tuner (note this tuner is not compatible with the future OTA 4K broadcast “ATSC 3.0”) picks up more channels than my old TV with the same antenna, it shows signal level and signal quality percentage meter when you bring up info on the channel by hitting the up arrow, then right arrow on remote. TV shows and movies over the air with a 4:3 aspect ratio (black bars on the left and right of the screen) automatically convert to 16:9 (full wide screen) on channels like Bounce where they broadcast in 4:3, but cannot do it on some other channels, this is nice touch since I hate watching older shows in 4:3.
Picture quality on 4K content is excellent with rich colors, good contrast and deep blacks, picture is just incredible when compared to my older 1080p, TV is compatible with HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vison that on paper is not fully optimized with 600 nits in brightness (1000 nits is needed for true HDR experience according to YouTuber Stop the Fomo) but watching HDR on this TV looks good enough for my eyes and I am quite satisfied with it. Shows from Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Max look great in 4K and lower 1080p content from Peacock, Pluto TV is good as well. Overall, this TV excels on image quality. Wi-Fi connection for streaming is rather good and picks up the signal in my bedroom with no issues of dropping.
This LED panel has a slight dirty screen effect that is barely noticeable on most content and minimal blooming on bright objects. There is, however, is no option for Motion Enhancement in picture settings (Motion option to fix blur is not offered on the 50-inch model as it is on bigger sizes) this helps with motion blur on things that have fast motion like sports. Motion handing is ok without any motion options enabled for most content, but you will notice a little blur in some sports without it.
Coming from Roku, this is my first time using an Android TV device and it took some getting used to but once you do it is great. Past reviews of Android TVs reported the OS being slow, but this is not the case for this model since the UI is snappy and responsive. Just as fast as my prior Roku TV and switching between live TV and streaming apps is seamless. Android TV additional features like Google Assistant voice command (colored circles button on remote) that lets you look up shows or movies via your voice is fantastic. The Play Next feature lets you continue watching previous watched episodes from different streaming apps from one spot and it recommends new shows from your viewing history are nice extras. There are thousands of apps to choose from, you can even add a VPN, although some proprietary apps like Apple TV, Xfinity and Spectrum are available in Google store but are not compatible with this TV as of yet. The fast CPU and storage (4.3 gigs total with 2.1 gigs of space left after 8 streaming apps and 1 VPN app installed) helps Android TV shine. Note: You can add a USB drive and format it via settings to be use as additional storage for apps on TV or power users who plan to use more than 20 apps, and want the fastest experience, should consider an external device like the Nvidia Shield Pro it has expandable storage options also.
Build quality and design wise, everything is in hard plastic and basic, but bezels are thin, legs are sturdy. TV does not look cheap at a distance and TV stand width between legs is 31.3×8.9 inches. The power LED lights in the front turns red when TV is off and this can be annoying for some in the bedroom, you can go into Device Preference and switch off Power LED.
On ports you get four HDMI connections, HDMI 1 being ARC, two USB, one Digital Optical Audio, one Composite Video, one Ethernet, one Headphone Jack and one RF Antenna Input. The ports with three HDMI, two USB and one Digital Optical Audio are located on the left side of TV, while one HDMI, Ethernet, Composite and Headphone Jack is on the back far left.
Sound is pretty good as volume is plenty loud at 14 for live TV and find myself lowering the volume to 10 when using certain streaming apps. TV has Dolby Atmos and equalizer settings but unfortunately, does not have eARC support for Dolby Atmos passthrough. You do not really need a soundbar but not getting rich premium sound and bass as you would get from a soundbar. I did notice an issue with sound cutting off after initially setting up some streaming apps with both TV’s. Just turning off and on the power did not bring the sound back but hard resetting (unplugging the power cord) brought it back.
The remote has numbers and the ability to connect via Bluetooth once you pair it by pressing and holding down the menu button on remote, great not having to point directly at TV anymore to change a channel. Controlling your TV via voice commands is cool too. You can also add live TV channels to favorites for quick access.
Overall, I am very pleased with this smart TV that offers good picture quality and features.

Great Pair Of Earbuds
on June 11, 2021
Posted by: Mrbell1970

With so many budget friendly wireless headphones with sub-par sound out there in the wild, it is hard to find decent ones. When looking for truly wireless headphones, I am considering listening to music while commuting so sound has to be decent, device stays in my ears, Bluetooth stays connected and good battery life. Folks looking in this category usually want suitable sound quality but not willing to pay the premium of higher end air buds.
JVC HAA11T Marshmallow True Wireless buds are a small simple design that are light weight, with 5 different sized memory foam earpieces to fit various sizes of ear canals. The earpieces seem to be comfortable during long sessions and most importantly stays in your ears. The device is also water resistant, so getting caught in the rain or sweating during workouts is not an issue.
Connecting to Bluetooth is seamless, just hold down the little button until the white light starts blinking and connect with your phone. Connection was quick and painless; another good feature is Auto Connect that automatically reconnects your headphones once you take them out of the case. (headphones shut off once you placed them inside of case) The device uses Bluetooth 5.1 and has good distance range, I would leave my phone in the living room and go to my bedroom with no connection interruptions. Some of my other wireless headphones would lose the connections when I went to the bedroom. I Did not experience any dropped connections no matter what I was actively doing.
Sound quality is surprising, good (I was not expecting much at this price point) I mean you are not getting high-fidelity audiophile sound, but you are getting crisp and clear sound with some low-end bass (not deep tremendous bass) which I consider decent for most users and the volume can get very loud. The headphones earpiece forms a tight seal in your ear, so you will not hear any outside noise especially on higher volumes, this may be an issue for bike riders who benefit from hearing outside noises around them. A nice feature that lowers the sound by taping the button so you can hear the outside is Touch & Talk, you simply tap the button again to continue enjoying your music after talking with someone. You can also listen with one headset only ether left or right. Audio is good in phone calls on both sides.
Battery life is outstanding with 8 hours on the headphones and additional 20 hours with the case that is small enough to easily fit your pocket. The battery case offers quick charging as well, just a 10 minute will give you an hour worth.
The only gripes I have is the tiny button can be hard to press at times and USB cord for case is too short.

Tough Basic Chromebook
on June 10, 2021
Posted by: Mrbell1970
from Fresno
This entry level Chromebook is very durable, offers the security of Chrome OS and would be good for students, folks that work outside such as cable company installers and for people who just need something basic for web browsing who are worried about durability, since they get peace of mind as it is both drop and liquid spill resistant. I plan on using as a backup to the current laptop and for travel.
First thing you notice when taking out the box is hard plastic shell around the Chromebook and strong hinges that should last awhile. Ever thing looks well built, sturdy but still is light weight and can withstand many heavy books inside a bookbag or up to 132 pounds of weight on its cover. Has shock absorbing bumper for drops. This Chromebook also has a Military Standard Certification for durability.
Setup was easy as you connect to Wi-Fi and log into your Google account, all apps, bookmarks from previous Chrome browser that are compatible will sync on new device. I was surprised that the very secure Brave web browser was available on Chromebook, plus another nice feature is Smart Lock that uses your phone to unlock your Chromebook (no more passwords).
Screen is little on the dim side for me but is matte. (Reduces amount of glare and reflections outside) Viewing angles are not bad on this IPS screen, colors are average, and this is to be expected at this price point. The 3:2 aspect ratio on this screen gives you more of the web site to view vertically when compared to normal wide screen laptops at the same size.
Performance is not bad with instant boot time, the ability to run 10 tabs within the browser without much slow down. The dual core Celeron N4020 CPU handles most basic tasks with ease.
The chiclet style keyboard offers decent travel and not much flex when depressing keys, while the touchpad is large and responsive. Two fingers scrolling is a little fast for my taste but can be adjusted in settings. The keyboard is spill resistant to certain liquids and is designed to drain out.
Webcam picture is grainy with low quality.
Storage is 32 gigs of internal and has a microSD slot for expandable storage which is good. Another option is installing the Google Drive app for access to free cloud storage. Two USB type-C, Two USB type-A ports for external flash drives.
Sound gets loud enough on most content but does have a slight distortion when on max and a bit tinny.
Battery is good, I got around 10 hours with mixed use of watching YouTube videos, music and general web browsing.

mouse pad often doesn't respond slow to load webpages, no lighted keyboard
touch pad freezing
July 26, 2015
The touch pad not responding is an issue with Windows 8 not the Lenovo laptop: http://wind8apps.com/fix-mouse-pointer-disappears-windows-8/
Web pages load quick on my laptop but that may be a network connection issue.
Can't expect an $300 laptop to have a lighted keyboard.

Nice laptop for price
By Momof3
Main complaint is that the sales rep said this laptop, purchased as an open box item, would receive the Windows 10 upgrade. On turning it on & trying to upgrade, I found out that the laptop, in fact, cannot receive the Win10 upgrade. Always disappointing when a sales rep overpromises and under delivers!! Other than that, it seems to be a nice laptop but I won't keep it because Windows 8 drives me crazy!

A nice tablet for books. That's really it.
By MK555
Apps run okay but the real problem is streaming and internet browsing. I'm telling you, generic tablets are faster... I thought it was my internet at first but all my other devices work phenomenally fast. I first noticed this after I started using it but I thought I would give it a shot. I've decided to return this and exchange for another $50 tablet tomorrow. This is because I couldn't even watch a simple youtube video today.
Here's what I did like. It's name brand. The games are nice and mostly ad free. It uses Android 5.0 but uses their own app store. Reading books is great. Library app is kinda slow but still works.
Perfect cheap tablet for kids age 6 to 13 maybe...
Streaming fine
October 9, 2015
I have not had a problem with streaming and run Netflix, Hbo Now, Youtube and videos on Facebook (mainly youtube) just fine. Generic tablets are not faster than this device, starting to think that some of the people who are doing these bad reviews did not even purchase the device or have some other agenda like say it's just for kids which is totally bogus..

Would be great if the screen didn't flex
By TheRaymo1234 from Franklin, Ma.
Tested this computer at the store and when you move the screen you can see the panel flex in the lower corner about an inch above the hinge on the edge of the screen on each side. This effect happens when just moving the screen back and forth even gently. Not sure how long the screen will last like that otherwise seemed pretty awesome for what it is. Too Bad I would love to have gotten two for my kids.
Lenovo's cheaply made
December 14, 2015
I have a Lenono G50-45 and can confirm the build quality is flimsy at least on their entry level laptops, don't even take it anywhere for two reasons: 1st I think it will break easily, 2nd the battery life is not good, even bought a Asus Chromebook because of these issues. Other issues were the wifi taking 6-8 mins to reconnect after sleep mode, cursor freezing (seem to went away after updating to Win 10) but everything else was fine with it but would much rather have a similar spec Asus that been on sale a couple times this year for $399 (not at Best Buy unfortunately )

Broke after a week
By Pissedoffcustomer
Bought this tv on black Friday and purchased the 5 year warranty. After a couple days it started to have a pink cloud affect on the screen. Tonight it just shut off and had no picture but sound. Sat on hold with geek squad 2 seperate times. First time I was hung up on second time I was told to take it back in. When I purchased the warranty I was told with the size of tv they would come out to my house to repair or replace it. So I called the store and sat on hold another 20 min. When I finally talked to someone they said it's not there problem after it leaves the store and I would have to do whatever the geek squad tells me to do. Disappointed in lg and even more disgusted with best buy. Great customer service until you walk out the door than who cares

So Far SO Good
By JohnB1970
I bought this phone to see if it would work on a free government plan (Safelink) and did not want to pay a lot for premium phone but did want some premium features. The phone works perfectly on Safelink (I am extremely happy about not paying a cell bill anymore) plus does everything a $400 phone does. This phone outperforms my Samsung Galaxy Core Prime in every way and for $130 (on sale plus I had Best Buy points) . Great build quality, fast processor, plenty of storage and ram. Picture quality is good to me, since I'm use to entry level phones but does not compare to other premium phones.

Solid Construction, Excellent Display
By LJG500
Solid, above average aluminum construction and a very good, 1080p IPS display. Performance is good, but not exceptional with the Braswel N3160 CPU, however, 4GB of ram and 32 gb of flash memory are above average for a consumer grade Chrome laptop. Lack of SD card reader is puzzling- but having two USB 3 ports is helpful, for example, when connecting to an external hard drive. Be advised that some Chrome extensions can hamper performance, and if ad blocking is use, I would recommend Ublock Origin versus Adblock, as the later significantly decreases performance (Chrome Web Store). Finally, this laptop should run Android apps sometime in 2016/2017.
July 16, 2016
You are correct Adblock decreased performance so I installed Fair Adblock App which shows no slow down.

Experience legendary performance and sound of ASTRO Audio V2, with the convenience and freedom that comes without wires. The A50 Wireless + Base Station for PS5 /PS4 / PC delivers top-of-the-line acoustics, ergonomics, comfort and durability that gamers demand. The all-new Base Station provides clear, low-latency voice communication, while making headset pairing and charging simple. The ASTRO Command Center software allows gamers and streamers to tune every input and output parameter of the A50 precisely for their specific setup. Experience absolute audio immersion with the A50 Wireless + Base Station.

From past reviews on the A50s there was a charging station to headset connection issue. In this new A50 headset has that been fixed? Does the mic take out background noise up to how many DBs? Does the RF automatically select the best frequency?

Seems to be fixed after firmware update.

Safeguard your home with this Arlo security camera system. Its 4K resolution provides maximum clarity so you don't miss a single detail, and a siren is integrated so you can fend off intruders either remotely or while at home. This Arlo security camera system is weather-resistant, so it's functional rain or shine.

Do the Ultra cameras have improved motion detection compared to the Pro 2? I currently get false alerts when the Pro 2 detects shadows from tree limbs. I would like to upgrade only if the Ultra has improved motion detection.

Can't answer your question regarding comparison, but I had the same issue with the Ultra regarding shadows/tree and resolved it by lowering motion sensitivity to 65% and limit the motion detection area.

can I print to a wireless printer?
I have a Cannon wireless printer and there was no app for it in the store but they do have a HP one and a print app that uses Google print server which mean you would have to log in to Google to print from your device.

Do Amazon Fires purchased through Best Buy contain the loaded Amazon screensaver you have to PAY to remove?

Yes it has a ad on lock screen.

Does not bother me at all in fact barely notice it once I unlock the screen, I would not pay to get rid of it since its only in screensaver mode but that's me.
