Incredible image quality, even better HyperSmooth video stabilization and a huge boost in battery life come together in the new GoPro HERO12 Black. It takes superb 5.3K video and adds High Dynamic Range (HDR) to capture once in a lifetime journeys and amazing everyday moments in even more detail. Thanks to its improved power management, it delivers 2x longer continuous recording at 5.3K60 (70 minutes). Tough, lightweight and easily mountable for hands-free recording, it’s ready for anything (on land or in the water) while advanced video stabilization keeps your footage smooth over rough terrain. My Little Friend
on September 20, 2023
Posted by: mobilelawyer
I had never used a GoPro, so I can’t compare this model to its predecessors. I have used the GoPro HERO12 for several weeks and have some very strong opinions about it. I am sure its reputation as great as an action Cam is fully justified, but I find it almost impossible not to like it for general use in shooting both videos and photographs and easily taking it with you wherever you need to go.
For families shooting home videos, I cannot imagine a better memory preserving machine. “Wait, it doesn’t have a zoom lens!” Guess what? You don’t need a zoom lens, and if you had one, you would overuse it and ultimately detract from your videos. Please trust me on this. Grab one of these tiny devices and just start shooting. Zoom with your feet and plan your shots to edit as you go. You will learn to do it in no time and produce engaging videos without putting your family and friends to sleep when you play it back for them.
You can produce all the action you want by knitting together editable still and video recordings to tell your story. And you don’t need any special software to pull it off. You can use the supplied GoPro Quick software to make edits or set the camera to automatically upload your captures and have the software automatically edit your mosaic into a video complete with transitions and music. If you do nothing to change the default settings, the automatically produced video also has the Go Pro logos added at the beginning and end of the production. Those are easy to trim out using Quick if you find them obtrusive.
If you want more editing flexibility, iMovie for Mac and Clipchamp for Windows come free with the respective operating systems and more sophisticated alternatives are available for those who need them.
By all means the GoPro subscription at $49.00/ year is more than worth it to have all of your uploaded videos from the beginning of time always available for distribution or further editing. And discounts on other products, assessories and services also come with the subscription.
I love the way this tiny camera feels in my hand. I have never liked to shoot videos with my smartphone. It felt great to carry around and use handheld. I do recommend the Shorty assessory (not supplied with the camera) which is both a mini tripod and short extension pole which gives even more shooting flexibility. The camera is waterproof and has a grippy feel to it. It has a conventional screw in mount on the bottom for tripods as well as the proprietary mount for GoPro accessories.
Some users might be able to literarily charge this device up and shoot all your videos on a trip and never even think about recharging until you return home. I loaded the device with a 256GB micro-SD card and would be able to shoot hour upon hour of videos and stills before filling it. I believe the maximum time for a video shoot is 70 minutes at the 5K setting with stabilization on. Most home users will dial that performance down (with no serious degradation in image quality) to make the most room on their SD card and preserve battery life.
Image quality is excellent. To my eyes, it matches or exceeds my iPhone and other smartphones I have used with the exception of “shooting in the dark” scenarios. Even in relatively low light situations, it usually does well. I am very pleased with what I see. The GoPro system is training me to re-think what can be done with small, rugged cameras with built in stabilization like this one. And everything you need for fun can fit in your pocket or a small pouch. Highly recommended.

Versatile and Unique
on September 6, 2023
Posted by: mobilelawyer
This is a handsome, compact and versatile amplifier. It offers a digital amp with a very good CD player and FM tuner, which can play back all your local audio files, stored on your network, local disk, USB drive, smartphone or PC. It also offers internet access to streaming services, podcasts, and internet radio stations. It also offers a phono preamp, allowing a direct connection to your turntable. Simply add speakers and you are good to go!
The main idea behind this package, I think, is to offer a no-compromise compact audio system that could compliment not only your living room, but also a smaller listening space such as an office or bedroom. The amplifier is modestly speced at 60 watts per channel at 4 ohms, and only 40 watts into a more typical 8-ohm load. But the message from Technics is quality of sound reproduction. The digital amp has a dedicated twin power supply circuit, and what is called a JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise-Shaping optimization). There is a space tune function that allows for specific kinds of room placement, Free, Wall, Corner and Shelf, and which allows separate settings of each speaker, adjusting for installation under different conditions and brings out the best sound quality.
When unit was out of the box, I completed the initial set up in just a few minutes. The final set up should be performed with the Technics Audio Center app which is available for your Apple or Android smartphone, and which will offer the complete range of customizations to compliment your situation.
For initial evaluation, I connected a pair of NHT Superzero speakers which sport a decades old tried and true compact design, and which I have listened to off and on for many years. They gave me both instant gratification and a reference baseline to evaluate the sound qualities of the amp. I enjoyed listening to both CDs and the FM tuner. I used the auto scan function to map out my local stations for quick reference. Both DAB and DAB+ are offered on this unit. A simple several foot run of wire is offered to serve as your “DAB Indoor Antenna”. This arrangement picked up most of the local stations I listen to regularly, but I will update it with a better indoor or outdoor antenna to get the full range of stations which are available.
I found the sound produced by this receiver to be spacious and open, and the Superzeros could be driven to loud, room-filling volume. I also moved the amp into another room to attach a pair of B&W 600 Series Anniversary Edition bookshelf speakers. I have been listening to these speakers for more than a year and have found them to be neutral and revealing. Great recordings are presented in all their splendor, and lousy masters or poor pressings are also revealed for all their respective shortcomings. This move also made my recently reviewed Technics SL-1500C turntable and Ortofon cartridge available for testing with the receiver’s phono pre-amp. The move was quite productive, and I must say that the receiver’s amplifier and phono front end handled my music with aplomb. Imaging and presence was satisfying in all types of music, and the SA-C600 drove the larger speakers with headroom to spare. The sound quality of this receiver is excellent. If you want to connect a sub-woofer as well to better enjoy the lower frequencies, an analog output is also available for that arrangement.
The volume of different types of music and programming available through this receiver is amazing. To fully utilize it, you should use the Technics Audio Center app on your smartphone. Until I used that program with my iPhone, access to podcasts and internet radio stations was simply not available. Once I connected to the app, it was quite easy to access internet radio stations and podcasts. I was also able to connect to my Synology NAS where a plethora of digital music files are stored. The app offers a graphical and useful way to scan through the file structure and find any song I want to listen to in minutes. USB connections are offered to attach external drives and flash drives which hold your music files. A USB-B connection is offered to attach a computer. I did not try that connection, but it supports USB 2.0 high speed connections, and both LPCM and DSD codecs. Both optical digital and coaxial digital inputs are available. I was able to listen to the audio from my Samsung TV with the optical input.
The receiver handles all the popular digital codecs: WAV, FLAC, DSD, ALAC, AAC, MP3. Connection to the network can be done via LAN or Wi-Fi. The Google Home app is used to set up Wi-Fi. Chromecast and AirPlay 2 are also available for streaming from your devices. Bluetooth is supported, and I was able to connect my iPhone in seconds, and when I was in range of the receiver, I was always immediately reconnected. Spotify Connect®, TIDAL, and Amazon Music services, and they can accessed directly through the Technics Audio Center App after installation of the native apps on your smartphone.
The supplied remote gets the job done, but I found myself using the Technics Audio Center app to best control the universe of functions available on this fine receiver. I am still learning what it can do, and I am not aware of any device that can touch its remarkable versatility. It has unmasked a world of audio that I knew existed but has never been so convenient to access. Highly recommended.

The SL-1500C inherits Technic’s high-end sound quality concept and adds a host of original Technics technologies, such as a coreless direct drive motor and high-sensitivity tonearm. To simplify the playing of analog records, the built-in Phono EQ connects to a wide variety of devices. The SL-1500C also comes equipped with a high-quality Ortofon 2M Red phono cartridge. The SL-1500C is a complete turntable system designed for a wide range of users, even outside of strictly dedicated audio enthusiasts.

Beautiful Precision

I thought I had said goodbye to vinyl with the advent of the CD, but goodbyes are hard indeed. I have a rather large LP collection accumulated over decades and needed a way to play them. I have a Bluetooth turntable, but it is not really designed for cartridge replacement, and I wanted to get better fidelity for my beloved records.
This white Technics turntable is a visual stunner and, it comes with the well-reviewed Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. The classic S-shaped tonearm exudes quality, and I was able to unbox the turntable, lock on the supplied shell with the cartridge already mounted and balance the tonearm within minutes. If I ever need to upgrade the cartridge, the change can be simply accomplished.
This is an old-school manual turntable. The only automatic function is that the arm will lift up at the end of the record. Up and down movement of the ‘arm to the record is precise and well-damped.
I was alarmed when I first powered the ‘table on. Even at low volume, low-level noise was being detected through the speakers without the turntable being operated. I changed the RCA connecting cables. Still there. I started turning devices on and off in the listening room to try and isolate the source. The first suspected culprit was my monitor. Nope. The source turned out to be a small NUC computer next to my receiver. It had a noisy fan, and undoubtedly the fan was generating electronic noise as well. For the time being, the NUC will simply have to be turned off when I listen to LPs. It’s been off for several days now!
Admittedly, I have not listened to low-level sources requiring a pre-amp for some time. I was surprised to see that this Technics has its own pre-amp. The supplied Ortofon is a moving magnet cartridge, so I was able to feed my Sony receiver directly with its output, even though the Sony has no phono input and no phono pre-amp. This combination sounded fine but did not produce the volume that I expected. I added the NAD PP-2 phono pre-amp between the turntable and the Sony, and the results were splendid.
I listened to rock, jazz and classical. I even found a couple of my classic Sheffield Lab direct to disc recordings. I have never heard better recordings- analog or digital.
One thing that struck me is that while the surface noise and pops were there, they were not nearly as noticeable as I thought they would be. And yes, there is something about analog LP’s, especially well-recorded ones, that goes beyond my emotions being tickled by nostalgia. Using well designed and engineered equipment, LPs sound magnificent. Better than CD? Others can argue about that. A well-recorded and mixed CD certainly sounds better than an average LP to my ears. A state-of-the-art vinyl pressing, on the other hand, can beat the pants off some CDs.
Suffice it to say, I have been able to enjoy my LPs for the past several days in pure bliss. This sturdy, direct drive turntable will give me years of vinyl enjoyment. I am smiling at the sight of this beautiful ‘table and its magnificent sound.
I am in an analog world for the time being and its quite nice.

Feeling Secure?

Identity and Privacy Protection should be of great concern to anyone using the internet, and this software is designed to grab the bull by the horns and methodically wrestle it to the ground. Using it to the best effect requires time and patience, and the gratification may not be instant.
The more details you can provide, the better the monitoring, and the more complete the protection. Name, date of birth, address, social security number, etc. You plug those into the program, and it searches for accounts and websites where your personal information is recorded and reports the results back to you.
Old online accounts, for example, were rounded up by this program, many of which I did not recall or had never heard of. It found approximately 36 password breaches- where information had been exposed online. The cure was go to the respective website and manually change the passwords, or, where the account was no longer being used, to delete the account. I am still working on those.
In other instances, old and dated information was found on multiple websites. I mashed a button to clean those up and was told it would take 30 to 45 days for the information to be deleted. I will have to wait to find out the specifics. The program does not indicate whether I will be notified and updated when the change is complete, or exactly what got removed or modified.
I also had the program perform a search for “risky accounts”. I pressed the button, and the dial spun around for several turns. The final report showed that no risky accounts were found. I checked again later, and the program returned the same result.
One question that I have about the results is that when you enter your name, you provide your full name, middle name, if you have one, and your last name and any suffixes. So, if your name was “James Brandon Smith”, does the program check for accounts and data for “Jim Smith” and/or “James Smith” and/or “James B. Smith” and/or J.B. Smith, depending on whatever common and routine aliases you may have or use? I assume there is a provision for adding all the variations that a user may have, to make the final results the most complete and reassuring.
My subscription extends for one year, and credit card information can be added to automatically renew it.
The program allows you to specify a plethora of information to be monitored: up to 10 credit cards, 10 bank accounts, 10 email addresses, etc. You can have your social security number and EIN numbers monitored as well.
Based on the details I provided, and the clean-up sweeps I performed, I was given a protection score of 535 out of 1000, which was rated by the program as “Fair”. The score could be improved by adding more data to monitor, and re-checking under to find additional breaches.
The subscription allows you to use several devices on the same subscription on Windows and Mac PC’s, iPhone and Android smartphones, and tablets.
To get the full benefit of this service, you will have to part with lots of personal information and follow many accounts. My use has not proceeded to that level, but those features are there if you want them.
In concept, the resources are all there. In use, it will take time to see how well they will ultimately work.

4K Monitor with HDR for Streaming!
on June 10, 2023
Posted by: mobilelawyer
Why does Samsung call this a 32” Smart Monitor with Streaming TV? Maybe that term is the most descriptive. You don’t see many monitors with a remote control like this one has. How about a Smart TV? It is smart, but it does not have an over the air tuner. Does your Smart TV have Apps like Microsoft 365 like this one does?
I have a 4K monitor which I use at work, and not for media consumption. If you have shopped for 4K monitors that do well with media consumption and can also reproduce 4K HDR sources from the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV, you will find that such monitors either do not exist, or if they claim to handle HDR streaming sources, they rate pretty poorly at that task in the eyes of the reviewers. My media consumption at home has been handled so far by large screen smart TVs, but I have searched in vain for a monitor for my desktop or laptop which could also handle my streaming needs. This Smart Monitor more than meets those needs.
Out of the box, the monitor makes a beautiful presentation on my desk. The stand is attractive and useful, and there is a matching web cam that snaps into place on the back of the screen. I had this out of the box and ready to start up in minutes. Everything fit together and there was literally one screw to tighten with a Phillips screwdriver.
The set up was not so smooth. When you boot the monitor, you must go through the process of connecting to the internet and establishing a Samsung account. This is a Smart TV, so it has to be set up just like the big boys on the wall. This is one of the reasons that having the furnished remote is so convenient. You can optionally use a keyboard and mouse with the Monitor, but you’ll need either a separate keyboard and mouse for the computer, or in my case, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse that you can pair with several devices and switch between them. Once I had everything set up, I never used the keyboard with the Monitor again.
When I did connect my desktop computer, and was able to view the picture, I was in for an unpleasant surprise. My desktop could only supply a 1920 x 1080 output into the monitor which looked OK, but has a noticeable lack of contrast.. Even though my Dell Windows 11 desktop had the HDR settings in the “on” position, the contrast was poor, creating a washed-out effect that could not be overcome with any screen adjustment that I could find. This was surprising and disappointing. The Dell had always produced a clear, crisp, contrasty picture with the HD monitor I had been using which had a top resolution of 1920 x 1080 which was noticeably better than the Samsung.
After reviewing the specs for my desktop computer, I was surprised to find that its resolution was limited to HD, 1920 x 1080, and that it was also limited to HDMI 1.4, not the HDMI 2 or higher spec that could support 4K via HDMI. Not to be outdone, I took my M1Mac Mini from another room and brought it to my desk. Without worrying about HDMI specs, I used the supplied USB-C cable and connected the Mac Mini to the monitor and the difference was night and day.
The poor contrast problem exhibited with the Dell desktop at the 1920 x 1080 resolution was gone. I was nonetheless frustrated that the default resolution on the Mac was still 1920 x 1080 when this monitor was capable of 4K resolution of up to 3,840 x 2,160. On big screen 4Ks that I have used, the computer always automatically selected the highest resolution available, but I had to go into the MacOS advanced display options and opt for having the computer list available resolutions. The list went all the way up to 3,840 x 2,160, and I selected that one. <BOOM>! What a wonderful 4K picture! I had edited together a 4K video several weeks ago that had been viewed on one of my large screen TVs, but I had never enjoyed the detail that I saw with this monitor. I also tried out this Smart Monitor with an Intel NUC mini PC that sported 4K HDR specs, and the picture was also excellent. The NUC running Windows 11 automatically selected the Samsung’s maximum resolution of 3,840 x 2,160.
The “issue” that I found with this Smart Monitor was that standard definition video sources tended to look muddy. High definition sources were better, but 4K HDR content was spectacular. I guess this complaint is like saying your brand new Porshe seems wasted when you have to slow down to amble through a school zone. I had never noticed this effect with SD sources on my large screen TV’s, but then I am not watching those screens from two feet away! This “issue” became most apparent was when I tuned local TV stations with my HD Homerun tuner. Full HD programming looked fine, but the compressed subchannels showed blocky artifacts and were sometimes blurry and not pleasing to watch. The reason I put issue in quotes is because I can’t imagine that anyone would buy this monitor to look at SD content on a regular basis.
This Smart Monitor has its own apps. I installed Netflix, Hulu, Disney, HBO Max,Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Plex, YouTube, YouTubeTV and ESPN. All worked swimmingly. I note that on the major streaming services offering 4K HDR content like Netflix, Max, Disney and Apple TV, each showed in the program description whether the content was in 4K HDR, a shortcoming with some hardware and software I have used in other situations which the Samsung Smart Monitor overcomes. The Samsung TV plus App provided a plethora of free content that I would have had to pay for with a cable subscription, both in terms of the live content from CNN, CBS, Ion and the like, as well as a nice selection of movies on a direct view basis.
I now have my Mac Mini set up to never sleep. Most of my time with this Smart Monitor is spent using the computer. When I am finished working, I simply cut the monitor off with the remote, and when I need the computer again, I use the smart remote to cut the monitor back on. The Mac screen I left when I cut the monitor off is available to be logged into. If I decide to stream for entertainment, I use the remote to go to the homepage and navigate to the source I want to view. The remote is my sole means of control when I use the Smart TV apps and switch between sources.
This 32” Smart Monitor has been a pleasure to use, and I highly recommend it. There is no way this thing’s coming off my desk any time soon. I did have a learning curve to master it, but I am fully hooked. If you want 4K HDR viewing on your desktop, go grab one of these. You won’t be disappointed.

A Good Citizen

This is not a typical smartwatch. I suspect the targeted customer would not at all be attracted to the likes of the Apple Watch or the Pixel Watch. This is a second-generation CZ Smart Hybrid. It does not have a battery-hogging OLED display.
It looks like you would think a large (44mm) stainless steel sport watch would look, with a crown and a real mechanical analog hour and minute hand (but not a mechanical second hand). Of course, it is not powered by winding a watch spring. You charge it with the supplied cable, and it takes about an hour for a full charge.
How often must one charge this watch? How about once every 18 days? That’s right. The charge lasts for more than two weeks, and pretty close to three. If have not used it for three weeks yet, but after 3 days, the charge indicator is at 90 per cent. As I said, this is not your typical smartwatch. Not by any stretch. Any Apple or Google watch owner will stand in complete awe of this kind of battery life.
It looks great and has some heft. The sport band on the model supplied to me is made of blue silicone. It has a stainless-steel buckle. It is said to be water resistant to 90 feet, and I have no reason to be skeptical of the claim. The manufacturer’s warranty extends for two years.
So, since it is an analog watch, how is it smart? This watch is able to measure your heart rate, your blood oxygen level, keep up with your steps and plan and time your workouts. All of those functions are done in the watch. But it also communicates with your smartphone, Ios or Android. In fact, when the watch was fully charged, I downloaded the Citizen app from the iPhone App store and configured and synced the phone and smartwatch via Bluetooth in just a few minutes.
The digital display on the watch face provides a plethora of information, once set up with your phone. You use the crown and the buttons on the top and bottom of the crown to select the function you want to access, such as local weather, music, notifications, stopwatch, workout, wellness and settings. The watch can be set up to work with Alexa. The digital display of pertinent information is on the watch face itself. The display is clean and legible, and a backlight is furnished for night viewing. The app also allows the user to design their own watch face to match their particular needs.
I set the watch up for all the typical notifications: email, messaging, CNN, Facebook and the like. When I sat at lunch with friends, the watch vibrated unobtrusively when a new message came, and the header was displayed. If I wanted to read the full message, I would access my smartphone to read it. Convenient and practical.
If you like this design and are attracted to this type of watch, I think you will be pleased with its performance and practicality. I recommend it.

Power, beauty, and stamina

I like everything about this laptop. Its attractive packaging is predictive of the beautiful product inside.
The frame in “sparkling black” is made from recycled metals and it has a cool solid, quality feel to the touch, and does not show fingerprints. The spacious keyboard is lighted in white, and typing was quite comfortable. The unit weighs about 3.5 pounds. For comparison, it is lighter than the 14-inch MacBook Pro. It is attractive but built like a tank.
The Dragonfly Pro has more than enough power with its Ryzen™ 7 7736U processor, which also gives excellent battery life. I used it for office work, media consumption, and plan to do some light photo editing. It is quiet and I have not gotten it to run hot in my use. I did hear the fan running one time, but the room was very quiet, and I have not heard it since. For those who game, this model should offer more than enough power for light gaming. I don’t game and did not test in that area. The 16 gigs of RAM and 512 gig SSD make this device snappy and responsive.
It is easy to squeeze a day’s work out of a single charge. When it is time to charge up, HP supplies a hefty 96-watt charger which replenishes the battery in no time. It took just over an hour to re-charge up to 100 per cent. For me, battery life is the number one consideration in a business laptop, and this model is certainly competitive with its peers in that regard.
The screen is bright and detailed and pumps out 400 nits of brightness. Resolution is HD and movie titles can be streamed in HDR, but not 4K. I previewed several Netflix titles and marveled at the presentation. To my eye, colors were rich and accurate and the quad Bang & Olufsen speakers easily filled the room with sound. The touchscreen was quite responsive. The webcam is excellent, and its performance is among the best I have seen in any laptop.
Port selection is commensurate with the body style and presentation being offered by HP: three USB-C ports and no headphone jack. Two of the ports have Thunderbolt 3 support. If you need HDMI or ethernet, you’ll need an adapter or hub which are readily available and should not add little bulk to your backpack or bag. In my opinion, that’s a small sacrifice for the beauty and convenience offered by this Dragonfly Pro. It will travel well.
This model is aimed at independent contractors and gig workers and offers dedicated keyboard access to 24/7 support. The service is free for the first year, and you’ll have to subscribe hereafter. Some might complain about the four keys taken up by these features. One of the keys can easily be programmed for other tasks. Since the laptop is aimed at those who don’t have company IT help available, this feature could be a lifesaver. I have not had the need to use it beyond accessing available features and device tuning that did not require human interaction.
It all comes down to the features you need and your budget. I believe this Dragonfly Pro is worth every penny of its price. It is a very attractive and reasonably light Windows laptop. It has more than enough power for my needs, and the battery life is superb. Go over to Best Buy and look at the Dragonfly Pro. Type on it. I promise it’s going to be hard to walk away from!

Feature Rich and Fancy Free

This compact and physically light receiver (just under 21 pounds out of the box) is specified to do virtually anything you might ask of a modern AV receiver. The relatively light weight actually worried me, especially when I compared this device to the AVR it replaced from several years ago that was much heavier to lift.
My fears turned out to be unfounded. My listening room is small, but the STR-AN1000 easily drove my Bowers & Wilkins 606 S2 Anniversary Edition front and center speakers to very loud levels and the presentation was clean, unrestrained and with absolutely no edginess. My HSU subwoofer, of course, was self-powered and my vintage NHT surrounds absolutely came to life with their new power source. Since my main speakers present an 8-ohm load, I doubt they are getting the 100 watts per channel output that Sony specifies since the Sony spec is into a 6-ohm load. It did not matter, as I could not hear any strain or constraint when I drove my 8-ohm speakers.
My surround set up is 5.1 and my current monitor is only 4K, but this Sony has me ready for 8K when I am able to make that addition to my equipment.
Set up was straightforward. I had been advised to be prepared to make measurements at set up, and I was ready with an inexpensive laser measure which allowed quick confirmation of speaker placement with the calibration microphone. The instructions stated that the process might take a while, but it was completed in just a few minutes. The receiver takes you through a guided set-up of the process.
I do have a couple of quibbles. The process for memorizing the frequencies for my local FM stations was counter-intuitive and took longer than I expected. Reception with the supplied wire antenna was just fine, once the stations were programmed.
Unfortunately, the receiver does not have an input for a low-level source like a phono cartridge. You would either have to get your own pre-amp if you want to use a turntable, or you would have to have a Bluetooth turntable like Sony's PS-LX310BT, which I fortunately had. I had not used it for a while since my living room home theatre set up is not conducive to using a turntable. With the STR-AN1000, I was able to pair with the turntable in my personal listening room in seconds. Now if I could only find enough space for my old record albums in my newly-equipped lair!
The remote is compact, but unlighted. The big blue HOME button helps direct traffic. Press it, and you will see a graphic to either WATCH video sources or LISTEN to audio only sources. After pressing WATCH, the remote allows me to navigate between the TV, my Blu-Ray Player and my Roku box. Press LISTEN, and I choose between FM radio, the turntable, or, for example, Spotify.
There are six HDMI inputs and two of them are 8K ready. This receiver is compatible with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, IMAX enhanced, and dts:x. No, I have not tried them all. Suffice it to say, the Dolby surround experience is full and wonderful in my listening room. On my favorite movies, sound placement is precise and exciting. I am getting a better surround experience than my older equipment was capable of producing. And I have no complaints about the music presentation either. Rock, jazz, or classical, Sony handles them all with aplomb.
One thing that has not changed for the better, and I don't single out Sony for this criticism, is that CEC over HDMI still is not mixed component friendly. If you have an all Sony set up, I am sure your Sony remote can turn all your components on with a press of the receiver's ON button, and vice-versa. I could not control my non-Sony components using the CEC feature. I was relegated to using the individual remotes for specific tasks that I wanted to perform with them.
The STR-AN1000 is a handsome, practical, and versatile do-it-all AVR and I highly recommend it.

Great Looking Band
on March 9, 2023
Posted by: mobilelawyer
I was using a different style band on my Apple Watch SE, and was offered the opportunity to evaluate this model.
I had seen braided nylon loop bands in pictures, but didn’t know what to expect with regard to their feel on my wrist.
I was able to get this attractive band out of the box and onto my watch in less than a minute. Band changes involve a button press and sliding each end of the band into the watch, and you can hear the band click as it is seated in the watch. Very easy.
The band is made of stretchy nylon. You adjust the loop for best fit: there is no clasp to open or close, and slide the stretchy band over your hand and onto your wrist.
The band looks and feels just great. It is comfortable and I was able to get a snug fit on my wrist. I very much like the nice, comfortable, casual look to this band, and, of course, the color is just perfect for my black SE watch. I have been able to wear it for hours without the watch drifting on my wrist and with no discomfort.
The price is right and the fit is nice. Highly recommended.

Light and compact triple header
on January 29, 2023

This was my first experience with a triple head electric shaver, and it was a positive one. The shaver feels great in your hand. It is light and easy to carry around. It is also very quiet compared to other electric shavers I have used.
It also has a trimmer attachment, which I did not use. You simply unsnap the triple head cutters and snap in the trimmer to use its features.
The cover for the triple blades flips up for easy cleaning.
A USB-A cord is furnished for charging. The unit does not ship with a charger. I used an old spare charger for my iPad, and it worked fine with the razor. You plug it in, and the charging light flashes, to let you know it is charging. When I returned home a couple of hours later, the shaver was fully charged.
I got a close and comfortable shave shave with this shaver, with no discomfort whatsoever. It is a wet-dry shaver, and I used wet. It is said to be fully shower safe.
Like most rechargeable shavers, you are not to use the shaver while it is plugged in to your USB charger. That cable is for charging only. This unit should last through many shaves before it’s time for recharging.
I very much enjoyed the shaving experience with this Philips Norelco shaver, and I highly recommend it.

what type of tv has a internal tuner that i don't need converter box [have antenna]

You have to look at the specifications for the set. If it has a tuner, the feature will be listed. Some sets don't have a tuner. My Vizio model does not, and I knew it didn't. I tune my local channels with a TiVo. Silicon Dust makes a variety of boxes that tune both cable and over the air channels. If you have a smart TV, you can simply download an app to stream your local channels from the HD Homerun box.

Simplify device management with this Logitech Harmony Express smart universal remote control. Amazon Alexa is built in, letting you issue voice commands to access entertainment, ask questions and a host of other features. This Logitech Harmony Express smart universal remote control lets you change TV channels, open apps on tablets and tackle numerous other tasks.

Despite numerous requests, I see that both Amazon and Harmony will still not create a remote with number keys. There are apps that you can download for your Amazon Fire TV known as iptv services. But, you can't change channels without number keys!

I am using the Express without a keypad. You speak the channel, and Alexa and Harmony Express pull up the channel, whether you say "Go to Channel 10" or "Go to Fox". But do be advised that I am using a TiVo, where each channel has a specific number.

Enjoy crisp, colorful picture quality with this Full HD HP monitor. The ultrathin bezel on the 27-inch screen provides an expansive viewing area so you can stay productive, and its AMD FreeSync technology reduces input lag and screen tearing. This HP monitor has two HDMI ports for connecting gaming consoles and other devices.

Can this be turned vertically in its stand?

The stand allows the screen to be titled several degrees up and down to suit your viewing angle. It does not allow rotation. To rotate the screen, you would need to rotate the stand, which is not that hard to do because the monitor and stand are relatively light.

How do I connect speakers to this montior

The speakers would be powered from your computer, not this monitor. It has video inputs only.

Is there a removeable screen protector on the monitor from the manufacturer? It appears to have a removeable film, but I'm worried it's supposed to be there and if I remove it then the monitor will be messed up.

There was no film on mine. The screen has a matte surface, not shiny.

Enjoy your favorite tracks with this iLive IHB603B stereo system, which supports Bluetooth 2.1 and features an FM radio, CD player and 3.5mm auxiliary input for a variety of listening options. A remote ensures simple operation.

I was wonder how big is the system meaning lenth, and is the sound very loud

From the product literature for the SRS-XB41:
Size & Weight
DIMENSIONS (W X H X D)
11 1/2 in x 4 1/8 in x 4 1/4 " (291 mm x 104 mm x 105 mm)
WEIGHT
3 lb 5 oz (1500 g)
I am attaching a picture with a conventional flashlight at the bottom for size comparison. The smaller SRS-XB21 is on the bottom, and the larger SRS-XB41 is on top. I have both. They each put out sound at a loud volume that belies their respective size, but the SB 41 is bigger with punchier bass, and a higher output. It will fill the largest room with loud, clear, detailed sound.

Will this system transmit Bluetooth signal to my hot tub Bluetooth speakers in my backyard?

From the product product specifications: These features allow you to setup multiple SRS-XB21 (or compatible speakers) together in a chain or specify their position individually. You can add up to 100 speakers it says but I have no way of testing that. It is nice to be able to add 2 of them and specify one for left channel and one for right. Here is a quick list of compatible speakers - SRS-XB21, SRS-XB31, SRS-XB41, SRS-XB20, SRS-XB30, SRS-XB40, GTK-XB60, GTK-XB90.

Are your hot tub speakers on this list above? If not, the answer is "no". But the Bluetooth radios on these units have a good range, and they are portable, so you could simply take the Sony to the hot tub.

Can I use my Samsung phone for the bluetooth to play music?

You should be able to do so. That is what the speaker is designed to do. It worked perfectly with my Pixel 2 smartphone.
