Brilliant! Fun and Educational!

If you want to give a gift that sparks your child's curiosity and gives them enjoyment, then the Bosebuild Speaker Cube is it.
I gave this to an 8 year old who wasted no time getting into it.
The instructions are on an app, which must be downloaded first. After that, each step is clearly shown and easy to follow.
You start learning about magnetism, electro-magnetism, and how sound waves are produced.
After that you begin construction of a paper speaker from cutouts that are provided. And, finally you construct the actual Bluetooth speaker.
You can customize the appearance of the speaker by choosing colored led lights that light with the beat of the music, and with cutout design patterns that are provided to attach to the sides of the speaker. It can also be taken apart and put back together again, as it is held together by clips.
This became a learning and fun experience for both the child and the adult supervising.
The final result is a high quality speaker that can be enjoyed for a long time. And, your child will have a sense of pride and a complete understanding of the inner workings every time they use it.
The only negative is that the app is only available on IOS.

Great Audio, But Video not as good

Sorry, but even though I gave this 4 stars, I have to start with the negatives first.
I got the Sony STR-DN1080 to replace a 4 year old Yamaha RX-V773. I wanted to get some newer features such as Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth and Chromecast, which my old receiver did not have. I would rate the Yamaha and this Sony as top of the mid range of A/V receivers.
However, as soon as I watched my first video I realized I had taken a step back. For 4 years I had watched every program on my cable box in upscaled 1080p. Most cable boxes, including mine, broadcast shows in 1080i, 720p, or even 480p. And, you can see the difference immediately. The Sony does not have any upscaling, just pass through. It seems like Sony concentrated on the A and forgot the V in an A/V receiver. This would normally be a 2 star deduction, however, Sony was clear in their product decription, so I only decucted 1 star.
Other problems were minor. The auto calibration would not work. It kept stating that my front surround speakers were not set up properly, but they were. Several attempts were all fruitless. I finally calibrated manually which was easy enough. I have a small room with a 5.1 setup.
Finally, the remote looks and feels cheap. There is no button for instant access to the Video 1 and Video 2 hdmi inputs. There is also no button for information on the screen of the receiver. It basically just displays the name of the input that you are watching. The audio format information will briefly flash when you start but you can't bring it back up.
Now for the good. Other than the auto calibration this receiver is pretty easy to setup. It is relatively compact, looks and feels solid, stays fairly cool and the screen is easy to read. The user interface is easy to understand and explanations are offered for settings that you might not understand.
I connected to my network via Ethernet so I cannot comment on the wireless connectivity, however, there are 2 antenna on the back of the unit.
The highlight is definitely the clarity of the sound. I can clearly hear all of the dialogue in every scene. Sony did a wonderful job in filling the room with sound while keeping the dialogue clear.
All of the latest audio formats are supported, as well as Bluetooth and Chromecast. The last 2 speaker channels can be used for Atmos, a second Zone or to bi-amp the front surround speakers.
Sony also has a Phantom setting for Atmos if you don't have those speakers. However, I tried it out several times and , at least in my setup, I could not hear any difference in the sound.
So, overall I was very happy with the audio, but disappointed in the lack of video upscaling. This was specifically a problem for the cable box as Netflix, Amazon and BluRay looked great..If this doesn't bother you or if all of your video is of very high quality, then I would recommend this receiver.

I will get right to the point. If you are even thinking about a 2 in 1 this is the computer to get.
Out of the box, you are immediately impressed with the design and build quality. From the aluminum body to the carbon fiber interior, from the infinity screen to the comfortable keyboard, you know that this is a premium product.
After turning it on for the first time and signing into your Microsoft account, I strongly recommend that you use the Dell Support Assist to locate and install all of the driver updates, and there are many.
Strangely I found that while installing these drivers the bottom of the computer became very hot. So hot that I was concerned that I had a defective unit. However, since the drivers were installed the computer has been very cool.
After the drivers are updated, make sure to update Windows 10. After the second day, I updated further to the Windows 10 Creators Update. These updates were installed without any issues and added many new features.
Setting up Windows Hello on the included fingerprint reader was quick and easy. I found it to be very accurate, however, after updating to the Creators Update, I did have to reset the fingerprint reader. But with the new update you can now use the face recognition software to have the camera recognize you and turn the computer on. So now I find that I am not using the fingerprint reader anymore.
I read and watched many reviews of this computer and I have found non of the following issues mentioned.
There is no screen flickering or constant light adjustment of the screen. The picture is clear and bright enough for outdoor use.
There is no battery drain when the computer is in sleep mode. I left the computer in sleep mode with 99% power. Eleven hours later I opened it to find 98%.
Some people don't like the camera at the bottom. I guess I'm not that vain. But if it bothers you, then put flip it to tent mode and the camera will be at the top.
Others have stated that the speakers are not loud enough in tent mode. I have found these speaker to be loud and clear in all modes.
Others have said that there is a whining coil noise from the keyboard area. My unit is completely silent.
And loss of wifi signal was also mentioned. I have found the wifi connection to be very strong, easily connected and never dropped. You can also set the wifi signal to stay on while in sleep mode so that you can receive notifications immediately upon waking.
Once you go 2 in 1, you will never go back.
The versatility of this computer is amazing. From laptop mode to , tablet mode, tent mode and stand mode. I have found uses in all of these modes. And anyone who thinks that they don't need touch in a laptop has simply not tried this computer.
Windows Ink is supported, but Dell does not include the pen. I will be purchasing the pen. After using this in all of the modes I can see many uses for the pen.
Bezels on screens never really bothered me. But, now that I have been using this computer, I can't help but notice the thicker bezels on all of my other devices. The same is true with the fanless design. It is so quiet that you now begin to notice the fan noise in your other computers, which you might not have noticed before.
The infinity screen allows for a very small footprint. One tradeoff Dell made for making such a small and thin laptop was the removal of a standard usb port. But a usb a to usb c dongle is included.
Another tradeoff that Dell made was in order to make this a fanless design, and to increase battery life, they used a mobile intel chip.
The unit I have came with the mobile I7 chip, 16gb ddr3, and 256gb ssd.
I am not a power user nor a gamer, if you are you may want to go to a store and see if this has enough power for your intended use.
I have found performance to be excellent for my needs which include office work, video streaming, web surfing with many tabs simultaneously open, using wifi and Bluetooth. And battery life has been more than 8 hours.
And finally, the last consideration is price. Of course we don't know if a product is worth the purchase price until we know how long the product will last and how much use we get from it. But based upon my initial impressions, I think it is worth the price and would highly recommend this product.

Very Good, But Some Negatives

The Dyson V7 Motorhead Is the first cordless vacuum I have owned. I have found that cords can be annoying, however, they provide you with steady power for an unlimited amount of time. But I wanted the convenience of cordless. So when Dyson increased the runtime and power on the new V7 Motorhead I decided to give it a try.
Out of the box the V7 Motorhead was easy to assemble. It is an upright vacuum with the motor and dust cup at the top of the unit. This detaches to become a handheld portable unit for increased versatility and for use with the 2 included smaller attachments for cleaning tight spaces or for automobiles. Also included is a very well designed storage bracket. It makes it very easy to hang the vacuum on the wall and you can integrate the charger so that every time you place the vacuum in the holder it will charge.
The vacuum comes with a 20% charge and says it will take 3 1/2 hours to fully charge before the first use. I found it only took about 2 hours. I have a 1300 square foot apartment with 3 bedrooms. I definitely had range anxiety and maybe cleaned at a little faster pace than normal because I was expecting the power to run out at anytime, but it never did. I was able to finish the entire apartment, even cleaning tight places with the crevice tool and cleaning the sofa with the brush attachment. Dyson promises 30 minutes of runtime at normal power. There is also a max power setting which will drain power much quicker. It took me about 45 minutes to complete the cleaning at normal power. But thanks to the power saving switch, which turns the power off every time you loosen you grip, I never ran out of power. Also the power remained strong and steady throughout. Maneuverability was outstanding.
Cleanup was very simple and quick. The brush bar was easy to disassemble and clean, and the removal of the dust from the dust cup is ingenious. I also found that hair, which gets caught in the brush bar of my other vacuum, simply goes straight to the dust cup on the Dyson.
So why did I only give it 4 stars?
1) About half way through I began to experience pain at the base of my thumb. Now I have small to medium size hands, but when I gripped the vacuum, the hard plastic at the top of the handle put constant pressure on the top of my hand. When I finished, there was a red circle at the base of my thumb and it was painful. This could easily be remedied with a soft material placed at the top of the inside of the grip.
2) The head unit was small enough to fit under my kitchen cabinets, but not under the front edges of most of my furniture. In comparison to my other vacuum, the Dyson was about 1/2" higher. Therefore, those areas required the crevice tool to clean.
3) In order to access the brush bar and clean the head unit, there are 2 locks that open by turning slotted pieces. Each slot is a different size. Surprisingly, this $400 vacuum does not provide you with a plastic tool for this purpose. Instead, make sure you have change on you, because one slot is about the size of a quarter and the other a dime or a penny. Come on Dyson, a 5 cent plastic tool would really help.
Overall, the positives are many and the negatives can be overcome.
The cost is expensive, but it seems to be a quality product. It cleaned very well, and if it lasts a long time, which I expect, then I think it is worth the price. I would definitely recommend it.

Very Good, But..........

I have been using the non pro wired Arlo cameras for a while now, having 4 of them, and I have been very happy with them. So I was confident that I would be very happy with these Arlo Pro wireless cameras.
Out of the box they look and feel like a high quality product.
Setup was quick and easy, though 1 of the cameras had to be paired a couple of times before it worked. (A minor inconvenience.)
One of the main reasons I chose my original Arlo cameras was that Netgear includes free cloud storage for you to retrieve any video from the last 7 days of recordings. I was very disappointed when setting up the cameras, to learn that the basic, free Arlo cloud account only allows up to 5 cameras. You have to pay for an upgraded account to use additional cameras. Still this is a feature that I did not find from any other manufacturer.
In comparing the wireless Pro Arlo cameras to the wired Arlo cameras I noted the following differences:
1) The wired cameras records in 1080p and the wireless Pro is 720p.
However, the difference wasn't noticeable. Video quality is quite good.
2) There is a significant delay in the video, much more so on the wireless Pro. Maybe as much as 5-6 seconds. Now, this is not a problem on watching the video, but if you want to have a 2 way conversation, well, that's simply not going to work.
In addition, these cameras are advertised as indoor/outdoor cameras. However, the mounts are magnetic. This makes removing the cameras very quick and easy. This is great if you use them indoors. But, how long do you think these would last outdoors before someone steals them. There are optional mounts which the camera screws into, however, this would not stop a crook but does make it inconvenient to take down for charging.
The only other problem I had was that Netgear states that the camera comes fully charged and indeed the charger seemed to indicate that it was fully charged. However, the first charge only lasted 24 hours. I think a full charge overnight will take care of this issue.
So the bottom line is that these are very good cameras with the all important free cloud storage account. There are some issues which I have mentioned, but non are important enough to dissuade me from purchasing or recommending these. But, before I would give these a whole hearted recommendation, I do have to mention that I think the full retail price is a ittle high. So I would wait for them to either go on sale or have their price reduced just as the wired Arlo camera prices have come down.

Am I crazy? What kind of nut spends $400- on a blow dryer?
Well, believe or not, if you can afford it, it's worth it.
It comes with a very long (9 foot) heavy duty cord and 3 magnetic attachments.
The first thing you notice is the feel. It has a soft matte finish which is very comfortable. It is well balanced in your hand and it never gets hot to the touch. It also is quiet and makes a sound which is much more pleasing to the ear than the typical hair blower makes.
It has 3 speed and 3 heating controls all within easy reach of your thumb while operating the dryer.It also has a cold shot button located next to the power switch.All controls are very intuitively placed and can be operated without looking at the buttons.
It is very powerful and blows tremendous volumes of air. Also, the temperature is checked and controlled 20 times per second. You will notice that once you set the temperature, it remains constant. Other hair blowers keep getting hotter the longer you use it. This results in damaged hair from the excessive heat. Your hair looks and feels better after using this dryer. It produces negative ions which reduces static in the hair.
The air enters the unit on the bottom of the handle where the removable filter is located. This is located farther away from your hair than it is on other hair blowers. This results in less hair and dandruff clogging the air intake and affecting performance.
If this was a product that was only occasionally used, I would not recommend it due to the price. But in my household, someone is using a hair blower almost every single day. So, if you consider the number of uses you will get from this, the cost is justified.
I do recommend this and would buy it again..

Pros:
Charges in an hour for 1 hour of run time, and will run for 5 minutes on a 5 minute charge.
Shape is comfortable in your hand.
Can be used wet or dry.
Has several attachments for every part of your body.
Trims beards quickly and easily.
Turbo button for tough beards.
Works well on most parts of the body.
Comes with a very nice leather pouch.
Cons:
Very loud, especially annoying when trimming ears.
No attachment for trimming eyebrows
Power button is located where your thumb usually rests. This results in constantly turning it off by accident.
The comb attachments for body grooming have wide spaces which allows your skin to get caught inside and cut. The instructions do warn of this and tell you to make sure to pull your skin tightly to avoid injury.
No angled attachments for trimming your hair around your ears. The instructions say to hold the trimmer at an angle. That's impossible to do consistently around both ears. Every trimmer I have ever owned had angled attachments, and they cost a lot less than this.
No brush is provided for cleaning,
Expensive at retail price.

OK Google, You Failed!

I use Amazon's Alexa and Microsoft's Cortana, so I am used to interacting with these types of AI devices. I thought I had a reasonable expectations for Google Home. But what a disappointment.
To start with, I find it very annoying to address this device as OK Google. Amazon and Microsoft were smart enough to give their products a name, so that you feel like you're talking to a person. With OK Google you always feel like you're talking to a machine. And you are speaking 2 words instead of 1.
Secondly, speaker quality was fair, at best. There's plenty of bass, but the higher sounds, especially the treble, is very cheap sounding. And the louder you make it, the worse it sounds. And there is no speaker jack or Bluetooth connectivity to allow you to listen to your music thru a higher quality speaker. Listening to music is simply not enjoyable.
Next, search of all things should be it's strong point. But, half the questions I asked were not able to be answered and then followed up with I cannot do that yet, but I will learn. Well how about you don't take my money yet any get back to me when you learn. And if it should give you a search result, it only gives you one. I'd rather ask Cortana on my PC or whatever phone you're using, and get multiple results.
I began to think I was doing something wrong so I went to the pamphlet that it comes with and it gives you sample questions to ask. So I said Play music by Sia. It understood me and said it would play Sia, and then promptly played country music.
The speaker itself is attractive but I think the colored lights at the top are a little tacky.
Also the touch volume controls move in segments instead of being completely variable. This results in one setting being just a little too low, but the next setting higher is a little too loud.
I had no problems communicating with the device, it understood everything I said, even at low volume.
I don't have an automated home, so perhaps I am missing out on a strong but point of this, but I think Amazon is compatible with more devices and of course you can get Prime Music, which is not available on this device.

Great headphones with a fatal flaw

I am a Bose fan with several of their products including the incredible QC-35 noise cancelling headphones. So when I was looking for Bluetooth headphones to wear while biking I was looking forward to the same great experience that I have had using the QC-35.
Unboxing is always a pleasure with Bose products as they always make a great impression. The headphones came with a 70% charge, which it announces to you when you turn it on, which allows you to set it up and use it immediately. The pairing with my phone and tablet were simple quick and familiar as all of this is the same as the QC-35. I immediately downloaded the Bose connect app and it downloaded a firmware update to the headphones.
Sitting in the quietness of my home, I was able to listen to music, and use voice commands to make and receive calls and texts. Everything worked perfectly. Speaking in my natural volume, my calls and texts were clear and accurate. Another positive is the comfort. These are so comfortable, you can wear them for hours and I promise you will forget that you are wearing them. They also stay in place even when you try to shake out of your ears, you can't.
Battery life is stated at 5 hours and I have exceeded that already.
Of course another reason to purchase these is for the heart rate monitoring. I tested this against my heart monitor watch with a chest strap and I found the Soundsport Pulse to be very accurate.
Now for the fatal flaw. I went on my first bike ride and I immediately experienced extremely loud wind noise. These headphones stick out of your ear, which I don't mind, but because they do they create a tremendous amount of wind noise. Apparently Bose forgot about aerodynamics when they designed these. The whooshing noise was not only annoying, but completely negated the voice controls. I tried repeatedly to call or text, but my phone could not understand my commands, despite talking as loud as I could. I finally stopped to make call which went through. However, as soon as I started riding the other party could no longer understand me over the whooshing noise. There was a lot of "What?, What did you say? Are you in traffic?". By the time I finished, 1 1/2 hours later, my ears were ringing from being exposed to the wind noise. I did not expect these to block out outside noise, nor did I want that, as I need to hear cars coming from behind me. But I did not expect these to amplify wind noise and be useless for the main activity for which I purchased them. So now I have a nice headphone to wear around my house, or in the gym, but not for the outdoor sport for which they were intended.
So I was torn between 5 stars for the excellent comfort and quality, and 1 star for the wind noise which made it useless for biking. So I will settle on 3 stars.

The Rocket Complete arrives disassembled with 3 main components which are quick and easy to assemble. The handle houses the motor, large capacity dust cup and filters. It also separates from the unit to become a standalone handheld vacuum. The base of the vacuum houses 2 separate rollers. One with brushes to deep clean carpets and one soft smooth brush to clean hard floors. All of the filters and brushes are easily removed for regular maintenance and cleaning.
Both the base and handheld components have bright lights to illuminate the floor in front of the vacuum. The motor has 2 speeds, a low speed recommended for hard floors and a high speed recommended for carpets. The cord is a very generous 30 feet long and wraps easily around the provided storage hooks so as not to get in your way. The vacuum also comes with accessories such as a very unique and useful L shaped attachment for cleaning under appliances and cabinets. There is also one for upholstery, pet hair and a crevice tool. A storage bag for the attachments is also included.
In addition you get a clip to hang an attachment onto the vacuum and a storage hook if you should decide to hang the vacuum on a wall. If you don't want to hang it, the handheld comes off the top and clips onto the base of the vacuum to give it a smaller footprint when storing.
But how does it clean? Well, we received the vacuum the day after we had cleaned our floors so we didn't expect much. But to our surprise the Rocket Complete picked up a substantial amount of dust, much of which was very fine dust. The vacuum was very light and maneuverable. Sharp turns were made easily and the bright onboard lights made it easy to see. I also found that L shaped attachment worked great under my couch. The motor was powerful in both speeds, and to my delight, operated at a modest volume. Our previous vacuums were so loud I had to wear ear plugs.

NO, the keyboard and the mouse are completely wireless without any way to connect by wire. You would have to get a wired keyboard and mouse and attach them via usb to the back of the computer

Would I be able to plug in a console to it, such as an Xbox? Does it have the channel input?
I am not familiar with the Xbox, but this computer does have an HDMI IN port, so if the Xbox has an HDMI OUT, I think it might work.

Hi. I just bought this and the screen continually adjusts the brightness/contrast automatically. I've searched everywhere and did the fixes stated online but with no improvement. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks!
I don't have this problem. I did install all of the driver updates, and there were a lot ( maybe 20). Try using the Dell Support Assist to locte and install all of the driver updates and see if that helps.

Hello, I bought the my xps 2 days ago. I am really concern about the cooling system because it is way too warm. Compare to my friend MacBook Air, it's Much warmer. Does anybody feel the laptop too warm? Even when It is just on charge Or in light use...
I found it to be hot while installing all of the driver updates, but it has been cool since. Make sure to install all of the driver updates. There are a lot of them.

what type of anti virus software does it have?
Windows Defender Security Center is the only one provided. I have found it to be the best. It is effective, does not slow down your computer and it is free from Microsoft . It should be the only one you will need.
