Primary reason for building/modifying PC:Upgrader
I purchased this external dvd/rw drive to compliment my MS Surface Pro tablet. While the drive is easy to setup and use, it is not as portable as I would like and therefore not as convenient as I expected. Furthermore you have to upgrade the OEM software to be able to play DVDs, but doing so also enables you to work with lots of other media types, so the upgrade almost pays for itself if you're a heavy media user.

What's not so great: not especially portable, need to upgrade OEM software for full functionality

A good machine but not universally supported

While this device is a nice combination of features that would be desired by most home users, not all internet service providers support its use, in my case Broadstripe/cablespeed does not support this device so I'm on my own if I run into any issues...

Will this be a CD software or an internet download version?
This can be either. I purchased the hard copy CD but then ended up downloading the installation package from the website when I decided to install it on a machine without a CD?DVD drive, so even if you happened to purchase the hard copy, you will be able to download and install - you just need to ensure you retain the serial number / product code from the original package to complete the installation after you've downloaded the installation files.
