Great lens for the budget-minded

I was looking for a lens with a big aperture, and with a f1.8 and a relatively low price, I decided to purchase. I'm impressed with the quick auto-focus and the bokeh produced gives my pics that pro look. I've only shot a few evening pics but I'll tell you they came out really nice. Since this is a prime lens, there's no zoom, but I don't mind. You can also use this lens for some macro, but when getting to close the image will start to distort. It's also great for portrait work too. If you don't have the money to spend and you need a good all-around, everyday lens, should really consider this lens.
What's great about it: Quick auto-focus. Excellent for evening shooting and portraits.
What's not so great: No zoom.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great camera backpack for the active person!!!

This is the 3rd Lowepro bag I now own and probably will be the most used. I've been using the Fastpack 250 (1st Generation), for the last couple years. The Fastpack is good pack but can get pretty heavy after a while. I've been waiting for a lightweight and weather-proof pack that I can take on hikes, outdoor events, bike-rides and over-seas travel. A current issue for me is the ability to stow the bag below the seat on planes for I use another bag for back-up clothes etc for top luggage bins. You'll be surprised at how much you're able to fit. Here's a list (and also a couple pics below) of what I've been able to put in:
-Sony a57 with attached 55-200mm, 18-55mm, 50mm, 30mm macro
-Sony NEX-5 with attached 18-55mm, 55-210mm
-Apple iPad
-Back-up SD cards x 4
-Pair of Lowepro camera straps
-Card reader and LED flashlight
A cool feature that I found is the ability to remove the camera compartment. Once removed, you're able to use the bag as a normal day-pack. In addition, there is a cinch-top cover for that compartment to keep out stuff, and also there is an attached rain/weather cover at the bottom for the pack.
For those who own larger DSLR's, you might want to look into purchasing the 22 liter version. Also, if you're looking for a low-profile bag, something that doesn't scream "very expensive camera in here!", then you should look at the Photohatchback!
What's great about it: Lightweight, weather-proof, durable, well-priced
What's not so great: Hip-belt uncomfortable

I purchased this lens for my NEX-5 a year ago and I love it. I've shot some sporting events (triathlon) with the burst shooting and the pics turned out awesome. This lens is a must-have for NEX users, especially if you need to get close to a subject. The aluminum casing and rubber rings gives the lens that durable feel.
What's great about it: Well built, quick AF
What's not so great: Kinda heavy

After falling in love with my Sony NEX-5, I wanted to get more into photography, so I purchased the A57. I needed a camera for shooting sports and my nieces, something with a high burst rate. I've shot a few triathlons this summer and the pics turned out awesome. The auto focus is very fast. I especially love the different picture effects/art modes in the menu...makes my shots look professional. With the battery included, I can get about 500 shots at 16 mps. I purchased this with the 18-55 kit, and about a month later 3 other lenses. I'm very satisfied with Sony. All in all, this camera is an excellent buy!
What's great about it: Excellent picture quality, quick autofocus, good battery life
What's not so great: LCD instead of OLED
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this lens to compliment my 18-55 kit that came with my a57. I'm a beginner with dslr's, but it's hard to tell with some of the photos I've taken. So far, I've been able to shoot some triathlons and festivals, using the 55-200. I was amazed at how well the pics came out, especially at full zoom. If you don't have the $$$ to spend on the higher-end lenses, I highly consider buying this lens.
What's great about it: Quick auto-focus.
What's not so great: Plastic-like housing.

Great for working out, especially running!

Type of Listener:Avid listener
Most Important to Purchase:Price
How Often Used:Daily
I was a little apprehensive about buying a pair of $100 headphones. My co-worker got a pair for x-mas and he had all positive things to say. I did some research on the net and most of the reviews were good. After my purchase, I went to the gym to try them out. They fit very snug and the sound quality was amazing. I did notice though that these are definitely not noise-cancelling. I did a 4 mile run with these on the treadmill and I didn't have to adjust them at all. I suggest that if you decide to purchase these, to also buy the $15 warranty plan from BB that insures them for 2 years...I go through headphones like I do toilet paper. I would have given the Bose a five star rating, but paying $100 for a pair of headphones seems a little steep. Maybe after a couple months of use, I'll update my review.
What's great about it: Stays in ear, comes with different sized ear pieces, a cool leather case, Bose sound quality
What's not so great: price

Exquisite image quality and creative freedom in a truly compact package. For razor-sharp images and pro-quality defocused backgrounds, the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 features a large, 1" sensor and an ultrabright Carl Zeiss f/1.8 lens. ..

Sony Cybershot RX100 vs Sony A5000 mirrorless? or any other suggestions?

I had a Cybershot RX100 that I felt worked super well for my needs..... however it stopped working after a year. I know someone who just got the A5000 mirrorless and loves it. Looking for any suggestions on why I would pick one over the other and any other models out there you might recommend. I just want something I can throw in a small bag if need be.... keep handy for multiple events, take on vacation but also take super high quality photos.... clear images, bright color, no red eye and user friendly for the "quick shot" please give feedback , greatly appreciate it!
Should check out the a6000. It has a fast AF, and the photo quality is awesome. The 16-50 kit lens will probably suffice but if you throw a Zeiss lens on there, it will step up your photo quality. With rumors of the a6100 being released in the near future, you can find some good deals on the current model. I purchased an open-box with kit lens for $479 a few weeks ago. It's my second. Good luck choosing!

there is no mention of internal flash. Is there one

Unfortunately, the a7 series don't come with flashes. If you purchase the a7s, you won't need a flash since the ISO is so high.
