I purchased this not knowing my smart tv had this built in. BUT... I travel for work and this comes in handy to watch movies, etc. in the hotel while traveling or if your tv doesn't support mirroring. If this is all you want then get it, but you get more features from a $30 Roku or chrome cast

For a quasi traditional laptop this is the best bang. I researched the heck out of these before purchasing and even purchased the 8g ram version 1st. As someone that has set up 3 sets of 4-5 Arlo cams, I can tell you that there are many differences. The first being the rechargeable battery pack, but you also get higher graphics and audio. I use the pro at my office so I have audio off to prolong battery life.
Lastly, there is an alarm on the base. If you set the cams on alarm mode and it notices audio or video activities, you can have the alarm sound
