The Arris - SURFboard Docsis 3.0 Cable Modem is great. It does as expected. My ISP recently updated our area for higher speed - this modem is needed to achieve the higher speed. I own both the full size Amazon Echo and now the Dot. The Dot is much more useful than I originally thought. The speaker is okay...not for listening to music..but fine for basic spoken word. This is a good and inexpensive way to broaden your home automation. However, these Amazon Echo products do not yet "sync" with each other - eg to play music. However, the Google Home devices do sync with music.

The Logitech - Harmony Smart Control is a nice device - if it fits into your plans. That is: do you always have your cell phone handy? If so, then you can use it to control you tv, stereo and similar devices. It also connects with Amazon Echo - so that is a plus. However, the Logitech Harmony hub is not a general purpose Smart Home hub (such as Samsung hub, etc) but it may do what you need for some home automation.

as far as I can tell. I external monitor in addition to your laptop/tablet screen. The Targus has a DVI video connector. And includes a converter to convert to VGA.

Hey. Great idea. First, WD MyCloud has an app which is your music player (WD Music Player). I'm currently away from home, connected to the NAS via internet and listening to music (playlist) on the NAS.
Second, listening remotely from the car - interesting. So I tried this! Download the app "WD MyCloud" for android phone. Set up your remote connectivity/secure access (just as you would for a PC to access MyCloud remotely). In the app, navigate to your music/playlist...click Play. That's it. This worked well. Keep in mind audio streaming uses a lot of your data plan if you are connected via 4G or 3G.

Are there any issues using this device as aa TimeMachine for mac?
Sorry. I don't have experience with this NAS and TimeMachine. I only access the NAS from PC. The product does mention it works with TimeMachine backup...and has a default folder on it for that.

Yes. At least on my Win8.1 Tablet. I use Logitech bluetooth keyboard and Microsoft Sculpt Comfort bluetooth mouse at the same time. They work simultaneously. However, sometimes my keyboard is a little laggy. My thought is it's the Win8 tablet that is the culprit.
