Comprehensive Identity theft protection suite

McAfee + Advanced internet security is a 1 year subscription to their new identity theft protection suite. The program supports Windows, Mac OS, Chromebook, IOS and Android. There is no smartphone app at this time but the web interface is available on all devices.
The setup begins with McAfee asking for your personal information. The interface is clunky, you only enter your email at first but later you can add your Social Security number, Phone numbers, Passport number, Driver’s license number, Tax ID numbers, Date of birth, Health IDs, Credit cards and Bank accounts. It can take a while if you have a lot of accounts.
After all the data entry you will have a nice Dash board that lays out what is left to do and the services that are active. I do feel this could be better organized with a better flow. You can then use each of the programs features to look for identity theft issues. This could be a little more automated with a guided flow. After setup you will get a score on the dashboard indicating your relative safety as you take the actions indicated your score will increase. This gives you an idea of how safe you are but is really not necessary a simple bar gauge would suffice.

The identity protection module will scan for data breaches on the dark web if a site breach is involved it will allow you to go to the site with a click of a button to change your password, I found some of the sites no longer exist though, these could be weeded out by McAfee. They also warn of lists of breaches that include your info all you can do is note these then archive them.
The personal data cleanup feature requires you to reenter all of your accounts again! I feel this could be improved as entry takes some time and effort and asking you to enter it multiple times in the same program is not what I expect. McAfee then scans data broker sites for your info, it will then automatically remove it. On the first scan it requests removal that day, repeat scans are done every 3 months.
With McAfee Advanced, you have expert identity theft support specialist ready to help with any identity theft. It is very reassuring to have someone walk you through the required steps to keep you safe and start your identity restoration. If you lose your wallet they can help you replace your cards and ID’s. McAfee covers you with up to 1 million dollars of identity theft insurance that reimburse you for stolen funds, lost wages, and legal fees.
The subscription also includes McAfee antivirus and McAfee Total Protection for unlimited devices. This protects your computer from malware and viruses that steal your information right from your computer and protect you while browsing the web. McAfee also includes a VPN for up to 5 devices. All of your online activity is encrypted and your ip address hidden offering even more protection. A password manager is also included to protect those valuable passwords avoiding storing them in your browser which is not as secure.
To fully delete sensitive files McAfee’s includes a digital file shredder so they can not be easily recovered by hackers or unauthorized individuals.
Overall McAfee + Advanced Internet security is a good package to keep you safe from identity theft and help you recover from it if it occurs.

The Sonos Rome SL is a wireless portable speaker that integrates with your Sonos system. The speaker itself is a small triangular form factor that can be used vertically or horizontally. The speaker measures 6.61 in (168 mm) H x 2.44 in (62 mm) W x 2.36 in (60 mm) D and weighs 0.95 lb (0.43 kg). The speaker can charge wirelessly with the Sonos wireless pad (or other QI wireless pad) or by USB C with the included charging cord. Sonos claims 10 hours of continuous playback on a single charge when listening at moderate volumes. The Roam SL will automatically switch into sleep mode to conserve power lasting up to 10 days. The speaker takes about 2 hours to fully recharge on USB or 4 hours wirelessly. This speaker is well suited for outdoor use, the IP 67 rating means it is water and dust resistant and can theoretically be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes without damage. The speaker has siliconized ends and control buttons and a cloth like material covering the rest of the speaker. The finish looks good and appears durable.
Volume and play pause buttons are on one end and the USB C power port and power/Bluetooth button are on the back.
Sound is supplied by one tweeter and one mid/woofer giving good sound for a speaker this size. Sonos has tuned this speaker well and I was surprised with the base although it is limited.

The on boarding is performed using the Sonos app on your smartphone. The app allows you to connect the speaker to your WiFi and adjust the settings on the speaker and shows how much battery charge is left. If you have other Sonos speakers set up you just add the Roam SL. You can group or stereo pair Sonos speakers and play content from Sonos Radio and other streaming services.
The Sonos ecosystem is great for whole home sound and this speaker is a great portable addition if you have a Sonos system. It can be used solo and sounds great but there are less expensive alternatives if you are just looking for a portable speaker.

Great Mini form factor gaming keyboard.

The Apex 9 mini is part of the great SteelSeries keyboard lineup. This keyboard has a reduced 60% form factor with full sized keys making it great for portability while maintaining usability. The smaller form factor takes up less room in a desktop gaming setup that will give you more room for mouse movement during gaming. The keyboard sports Optipoint linear optical switches making them very responsive 0.2ms with 0 debounce time. The keys are rated at 100 million keypresses. The keys are fadeproof PBT with textured tops that give them a good feel. The keycaps and switches are replaceable. SteelSeries includes a keycap puller that is conveniently stored in the base of the keyboard. The switches are also replaceable and the puller is available from SteelSeries. The keys have 2 point adjustable actuation that can be activated from the keyboard by pressing the function key (the key to the lower right with the steel series logo) and the o for gaming mode or i for typing mode, this changes the height (1.0 or 1.5mm) where the keys are actuated. The keyboard has profile switching by pressing the function key + Z and brightness control function key + C to dim or V to increase brightness. The keyboard also has on the fly macro recording so you can assign those awesome moves for quick execution to a single key. Keys have secondary actions that give the functionality of a full-size keyboard. The deck hight is adjustable from flat to two different angles of elevation with the kickstands. The keyboard is well constructed with an aluminum top deck giving it a premium feel and great rigidity. The total weight is 676 grams.
Well how does this keyboard feel. In the typing mode I felt the keys had a great feel and did not suffer from the small form factor. The feel of the keys was good and I did not have any trouble due to crowding or repeated characters. In the gaming mode the keys are quite fast. The Macros are great for complicated keypress combinations. You can set profiles for each game.
The SteelSeries Engine App controls all the keyboard programming and firmware updates, It is well put together and gets the job done. The lighting modes are set from the Engine app, each key has individually addressable RGB. To access the RGB settings you use the Steelseries Engine software, go to the illumination tab click on the blue bar on top then customize each key color by clicking on it and changing the settings. There are 5 preset patterns for the keyboard also. The Engine software is part of the SteelSeries GG platform that comes with Sonar to adust sound and microphone and even and capture utility (Moments) for gaming.
The keyboard is connected by a detachable USB C to USB A cable. I would have liked a right angle USB C connector on the keyboard side. If you use the keyboard with a gaming Laptop it needs to be decentered to the left so the cable does not hit the front.
If you are looking for a Mini keyboard this is a great option.

Premium Sound with Heart Rate monitor

Soundcore Liberty 4 are great new wireless earbuds from Anker. The buds have a stem similar to Apple Airpods. They store neatly in a magnetic case with a slide top the clear ear cushions light up when the top of the case is opened making them easy to see even in darker places. The design of the case makes it less likely they will inadvertently fall out upon opening.
The earbuds have great sound using the ACAA™️ 3.0 Coaxial Acoustic System with dual drivers you can customize the Active Noise Cancelling using HearID in the soudcore app. Hear ID plays a series of tones at different levels and you respond whether you hear it or not creating a noise canceling profile just for you. I found it improved the sound for me. There is 360° Immersive Spatial Audio with Music and Movie Modes this does work to keep you centered in the audio content and to allow the should to stay centered even while changing head position thanks to built in gyroscopes. These earbuds offer multipoint connection meaning you can connect them to your phone and computer at the same time and switch between them seamlessly. There are controls in the stems of each earbud that can be customized but default to single press for play/pause, double press for ambient sound for both and triple press next for right and previous for the left bud.
I used the earbuds for several phone calls and the sound was great the callers reported the sound from the microphones was great with no dropouts like I have experienced from other earbuds. The earbuds have support for Bluetooth 5.3 ,AC, LDAC, and SBC codecs . If you use LDAC playtime will be reduced. I found the soud response for music great using HearID ANC setting.
Anker has included several size ear tips to fit your ear and provide the best sound. I found the double layer tips very comfortable.

These earbuds include a Heart Rate Sensor in the right earbud. You access the heat rate through the Sounddcore App using the wellness tab. There is a stress monitor and an option to turn on a neck posture monitor. There are even a few guided walking and running activities along with a custom activity you can create. This is unique to these earbuds and Anker has added additional value with this if you are a runner. You can turn off the heart rate monitoring from the app.
The earbuds have up to 9 hours of play time depending on volume I got about 4hr 15 min you can use the case to recharge the earbuds for up to 28 hrs of use, full recharge takes 1 hour in the case, 15 minutes to fast charge them for 3 hours of additional play. The case itself takes 2 hours to fully charge. Anker lists some examples of typical play time in their Q and A by their testing listed here.
Normal Mode: Up to 9 hours on a single charge/28 hours with the charging case.
Noise Cancelling Mode: Up to 7 hours on a single charge/24 hours with charging case.
Transparency Mode: Up to 7 hours on a single charge/24 hours with charging case.
Call: Up to 5 hours on a single charge/15 hours with charging case.
The Soundcore app is used to access the settings of the Liberty 4. The wellness tab allows you to see your heart rate and stress level. You can switch the listening modes, manually adjust the EQ, take the ANC HearID test. It also allows you to update the firmware. I had no problems with the App on Android 13. The one missing option is a locate for a lost earbud.
Overall I would say Soundcore has produced a great earbud with the Liberty 4 with incredible value for the price. This earbud is certainly a what I consider premium.

The controller is a small rechargeable device that connects to the massager/heating pads magnetically. The unit comes with The device is small, it can be carried easily in your backpack, gym bag or suitcase. 3 reusable adhesive pads are included.

Use is simple, first charge the control unit with the USB . Place the adhesive pad where ever you need treatment, attach the charged controller and start the treatment on by pressing the power button on the control unit. There are controls for heat level and 3 different massage patterns, constant, intermittent or a combo pattern. The massage level is not adjustable. You can also control the unit from the Hyperice app unfortunately I could not get the unit to pair with my Android phone even though the Bluetooth could see the Venom go the app would not pair.
I have mixed feelings about this unit. The portability is great as is the adhesive pad. I would have liked a more forceful massage level. You are limited to placement of the unit to where you can reach eliminating placement on some places on your back without help. Even with its shortcomings it is still useful for travel when a conventional heating pad and massager would be too bulky. The unit has the added advantage that it can be used while moving around.

The Roccat Vulcan II MAX keyboard is a great looking and solidly built gaming keyboard from turtle beach. The keyboard is equipped with Titan II optical red switches with clear bottoms that allow all their RGB glory to shine through. The Titan II switches are the Linear style and very quiet the keys have 1.4mm actuation, 3.6mm of total travel with 45gm force required for actuation. The keys are rated at 100 million keystrokes. All those specs mean the keys are very fast. They have a good feel making them great for gaming. They do not have the clicky feel of a mechanical keyboard designed for typing but I felt they had a good feel, you can add click sounds with software if you desire. This keyboard is beautiful; it has dual LEDS, this allows the keys to display a second color when a function is active while still retaining it;s primary LED color. The RGB runs at double the rate of a normal RGB keyboard making it flicker free. Each key has RGB illumination with 16.8m colors. There are 24 multi-function smart keys with a dedicated LED to indicate when secondary functions are active. Just when you think the keyboard could not look any better you attach the included clear silicone wrist rest it transmits your led theme from ports in the front of the keyboard in dazzling RGB glory! I appreciated that Rocat included a Double kickstand for two different elevation angles. The keyboard is powered by dual USB A, this could be a little inconvenient if you need your USB A ports for other peripherals. You could always use a powered USB hub.

I choose to use it and it seems to work as advertised producing beautiful patterns that change according to what you are doing or not doing. Great air purifier with ocillation and heat.

The Shark Air Purifier 3-in-1 MAX is a true Happy air filter from shark. It has three air purifying modes, purified fan, purified heat and purified air. In the purified air mode, the air is vented at the back of the unit with a higher purification efficiency. In the other modes, the fan pushes the air out of the vent in the front. You can set the unit to oscillate providing a flow throughout your room.
The setup is easy. Just make sure you unwrap the HEPA filter inside the machine before starting it. There is a round remote on the top that is magnetically attached to the top of the unit. You can use it in place or remove that and control all the functions of the filter trom anywhere in your room.
The air filter cleans up to a thousand square feet and has an excellent output. I particularly like the heated filtered air function. In the auto mode, the filter automatically tracks the air quality function and adjust automatically to maintain clean air. Shark recommends replacement of the HEPA filter every 6 to 12 months based on use. The HEPA filter is large and should last quite a long time. I found the air output excellent with a lot of flow. I have significant nasal allergies that this unit improved by cleaning the air.
Overall I really like this unit and will use it every day.

A MAGNIFICA addition to your kitchen!

The DELONGHI MAGNIFICA EVO is an automated expresso/coffee maker with a lot of options and features. At our house we enjoy our coffee, used to make drip coffee. This machine has heightened our coffee experience to a new level that we will not be able to revert from.
Out of the box, this machine requires reading the quickstart manual at the very least. There is also an extensive full manual that explains all the different features and care of the machine. Once we completed the unpacking of the machine and its many accessories it was time to start familiarizing ourselves with our new morning companion.
The DELONGHI MAGNIFICA EVO is a large machine that will make many cups of coffee before needing to refill with water and beans or maintenance. The coffee bean reservoir is large and holds more beans than I expected. The water resevoir is a good size and also includes a filter for the water which is nice. There is also an option to use ground coffee and a scoop is included that conveniently measures only the amount that is allowed by the machine. Included was a water hardness strip to check your home water and a packet of descaling agent for the machine. A small packet of coffee beans was also included to get you started.
There are many features and some customization available. 13 grind settings and a conical burr grinder allow you to get the best flavor from any bean. This machine will make coffee five different preset ways: Espresso, Coffee, Americano, Iced Coffee, Long, Steam and with an option for a programmable recipe to your liking. The milk froather/foamer is the feature we were most excited to use and it did not disappoint. There are helpful markings on the side of the milk container that guide the amount of milk to add for the preset recipes. Also included is a button to rinse the froather which is a nice feature. The hot water dispenser is an extra bonus great for Tea or hot chocolate or even soup cups. The machine has a button on the top that allows for three different strengths of brew. All five preset options made great coffee for our tastes, but we found the size of the coffee was a little small for us. There is an option to increase the quantity of coffee brewed by holding the preferred recipe button down until the light blinks fast to start the brewing. Pressing the button a second time when reaching the desired quantity will stop the brew and save the quantity for the future brews. MAGNIFICA!
The Brew group is removal and can be cleaned easily, they even include a brush. This will keep your coffee tasting great.
This machine has met all our expectations and made our Sunday mornings that much more enjoyable. We no longer have to travel to the local coffee shop to experience exceptional coffee and can enjoy with bedhead and in our pajamas.

The coffee bean reservoir is large and holds more beans than I expected. The water resevoir is a good size and also includes a filter for the water which is nice. There is also an option to use ground coffee and a scoop is included that conveniently measures only the amount that is allowed by the machine. Included was a water hardness strip to check your home water and a packet of descaling agent for the machine. A small packet of coffee beans was also included to get you started.
There are many features and some customization available. 13 grind settings and a conical burr grinder allow you to get the best flavor from any bean. This machine will make coffee five different preset ways: Espresso, Coffee, Americano, Iced Coffee, Long, Steam and with an option for a programmable recipe to your liking. The milk froather/foamer is the feature we were most excited to use and it did not disappoint. There are helpful markings on the side of the milk container that guide the amount of milk to add for the preset recipes. Also included is a button to rinse the froather which is a nice feature. The hot water dispenser is an extra bonus great for Tea or hot chocolate or even soup cups. The machine has a button on the top that allows for three different strengths of brew. All five preset options made great coffee for our tastes, but we found the size of the coffee was a little small for us. There is an option to increase the quantity of coffee brewed by holding the preferred recipe button down until the light blinks fast to start the brewing. Pressing the button a second time when reaching the desired quantity will stop the brew and save the quantity for the future brews. MAGNIFICA!
The Brew group is removal and can be cleaned easily, they even include a brush. This will keep your coffee tasting great.
This machine has met all our expectations and made our Sunday mornings that much more enjoyable. We no longer have to travel to the local coffee shop to experience exceptional coffee and can enjoy with bedhead and in our pajamas.

D10 Neato Robotics Vacuum with LIDAR mapping!

The Neato D10 is a new advanced robot vacuum from Neato Robotics. It has LaserSmart SLAM technology LIDAR that allows mapping of a home or office and clean even in the dark.The HEPA filter captures fine dust particles as small as 0.3 microns. Neato has designed the robot with a wide flat edge and added a new brush to improve the vacuums ability to pick up dirt and reduce noise compared to it's previous vacuums.
Neato claims it will clean up to 2,700 sq. feet on a single charge and vacuums up to 300 minutes runtime The vacuum has a large 0.7-liter dirt bin. There are 3 vacuuming modes: Eco mode for general vacuuming, lower noise and longer run time, turbo mode for those areas that need a deeper cleaning and Max Mode for maximum power and deeper cleaning at the expense of shorter run time and more noise. The vacuum has a convenient auto-recharge mode. When it needs power to complete a job instead of charging fully it will calculate how much power it needs to finish , charge up, and then go back to cleaning right from where it left off. .
Setup is easy with the MyNeato app. It is available for Android and IOS. Unfortunately for me there is a bug that affects the setup of Wifi with Android 13 on my Pixel Pro 6 so I had to use my backup iPhone to do the setup. After the setup was complete I was able to use the App normally on my Pixel. Neato is working on a fix. With the MyNeato app you can control and monitor the D10 from anywhere. You can use zones to set up to 16 areas and choose the cleaning mode for each one. You can make cleaning schedules to let the vacuum do its work at a time convenient to you.
On the first run The D10 maps your entire office or home it then returns to the base and uploads the maps. My vacuum could not find it's base at first. A quick online chat with Neato support resulted in moving the base slightly and it has worked since. There are a few rules for base placement:
1) The charging station must be on a straight wall
2) It must not be in a corner or closer than three feet/one meter to a corner or door
3) It must not be in direct sunlight
4) It must not be placed under another object / piece of furniture
5) It should ideally be in a room with a quiet / unchanging environment so that further difficulties can be avoided (e.g. not near chairs that are moved)
6) There should be at least one meter/three feet of space to the right, left and front
7) The robot should be able to scan the charging station from several points in the room

The D10 did a great job cleaning my office carpets even though I have a cleaning crew vaccum maually the D10 vacuumed up a goo deal of dirt and dust. The vacuum was able to navigate the many chairs and obstacles without getting stuck. The map created was extremely accurate. I run the vacuum at night on turbo mode using scheduling. I did a manual run to assess the noise level of each mode, eco mode is quiet, Turbo mode is louder but not too noisy and is probably ok for normal use. Max mode is loud and should only be used if you need a really deep clean.
Neato Robotics has released a really nice vacuum, I recommend it if you are looking for a robotic vacuum.

The iOttie-Velox MagSafe Duo is a contemporary styled Wireless charger for your iPhone and qi enabled earbuds. The base and charging pad are black and the metal parts are chrome. As long as your iPhone case is MagSafe compatible.
The stand will hold it is the optimal position for viewing while it is charging, perfect for a work desk, nightstand or anyplace you would like to see the phone while it charges. A charging pad for your Qi enabled earbuds on the base has a slight curved depression to keep them in place.
The stand supplies 7.5W to the phone and 5W to the earbuds for wireless QI charging. A black USB C charging cable that is long enough to reach your charger for most situations connects to a charger (not supplied) to supply power. . There is a led light on the charging pad to indicate charging is active. The stand has a nonslip silicone on the base.
This charging stand is well made, good looking and functional a great charging alternative to those ugly pads and charging pucks.

It Also has Amazon Prime video. Hulu and Vudu are not available at this time you will have to use another streaming device for these. Sony will probably add additional apps soon.

YES! Sony uses a technology called the Veritcal sound engine to emulate the upwards oriented speakers in other atmos systems. This with their Digital sound enhancement engine allows you to hear the equivelent of 7.1.2 sound.

went in to best buy to buy the Bose sound bar 300 then i talked to a sony rep and showed me all the features on controlling each speaker separate which was very interesting to me on the sony 3.1 system up in the air not sure which one ?
All I can say is the sound from this system expecially with the optional SA-Z9R rear speakers is amazing. I highly reccomend this system.

I have dsl. Will this work with dsl?
You still use your DSL modem and connect the router to it. It will work just fine. Some of the provider supplied modems are actually a router and a modem together in one box. If you have one of those you will need to put it in bridge mode.

Have 2yr old Netgear Nighthawk ac1900/r7000 connected to a Spectrum/TW modem and about 350 days left of Norton Security Premium. As much as I like Core-safety sales pitch, is it really so good you'd trash my current router plus 11 month subscription?
It is faster and more secure, they will add the current subscription on the end of the 1 year free. You will need to call Norton and speak with a representative.
