No power outage - no power loss - no brown out - this thing just decided to stop working. I have had it running a fish tank pump witch i didn't want to stop incase of a power lose... This thing decided to stop the pumps on its own, now the "Battery" side will not work. The only good thing that came out of this product is, its alarm went off after it failed for no reason. If it didn't i would not have woke up in the middle of the night and plugged the pump into the wall and saved my tank... The true power rating is maybe enough to charge a cell phone.
In the battery side i had one 15W PC light (which was off) and a small power head. The surge only side (which still works) had 2 other pumps (hang on filter and a small power head)
It may be that it tripped and the reset button is broken because no matter how many times I press it now nothing happens.
Please DO NOT buy this product believing it will be reliable. Reading so many bad reviews about this I am suprised Best Buy would sell this product - i mean i expect this from Walmart.

I bought this product because I had to and it was the least expensive. For ~$47 it satisfied a rqmt that I have a back-up power supply for non-life support medical equipment. I used it to Skype on my laptop away from roommates to prevent disturbing them at 3AM to preserve my short laptop battery life.
My less-than-stellar review concerns the product description. The specs provide Volt-Amp rating, size, weight, number of outlets, etc. I have no idea how to convert a 425VA rating to "approximately how long" it would power a generic piece of equipment like a laptop or desktop computer. If the description would give an approximate battery lifespan based on a current 15" laptop, wireless antenna on, no DVD/CD player active, monitor at full brightness I could choose a product more aligned to my needs. I'd have been satisfied with an estimate variance of 20% which is huge by industry standards.
What's great about it: It satisfied a medical rqmt so I could get a job
What's not so great: Runs a laptop for only 25 minutes

This item is complete garbage. It cannot even handle my 40 inch samsung tv by ITSELF without over loading and beeping really loud every 30 minutes...Are you serious??? Don't bother buying this. If you are like me, and intended on protecting THOUSANDS of dollars worth of equipment, spend more money and get something far far better. This item is either going into the box of wires out in the garage, or if i care enough, returned. Got it for black friday, learned my lesson.

I purchased this mainly because of the price. I saw that it was one of the basic ones that only had 8 plug ins and could retain power for 25 mins. 25 mins is plenty of time to save everything and power off your computer safely if the power goes out. When I first started plugging everything into this new ups, everything was going good at first. I had my computer plugged in with no problems. I started plugging in my other desk items such as my low power Logitech speakers, and my beta fish filter (not concerned with it being protected, but it is on my desk with my other stuff). Everything was good then I plugged in my laser printer, big mistake. The ups shut off almost as soon as I plugged it in. I unplugged it and reset the safety circuit and powered everything back on. Everything went smoothly until I plugged my printer back in. Keep in mind I don't have one of those huge printers that take a whole city to run, just a basic cheap laser printer for school. This thing can't handle what it says it can. If these few items trip the circuit, then its not made very well. I'm not going to risk my computer that I've invested well over $1000 in with this cheap ups. If your looking for something to just plug in maybe a cheap workstation or just a laptop, then this may be good to get. Otherwise I would not get this one. Go with the APC one instead.
