I had all the MCU movies in regular Blu-ray some had digital copies this one didn’t. So when I got into steelbooks and saw this new release I said why not! I really wanted a digital copy and I rather pay for disc/digital and a nice case instead of just a digital code. And since there’s probably no chance of a whole 22 movie infinity saga set I can settle with getting this and all other new 4K releases of the MCU movies with matching covers!

As far as the steelbook itself goes, it is beautiful. Has nice artwork on the case and the discs. Mine did come damaged with a decent sized sent, no doubt due to Best Buy's insistence on sending fragile items in plastic bags with no padding. Best Buy, please send steelbooks in boxes only. I don't have a store near me so it's a pain to return by mail but I end up having to since I buy these as collectors items.

As far as the movie itself goes, I'm sure you've all seen and love it. This is new to 4k (aside from those awful quality foreign releases a few years ago). For the most part, the picture is amazing. It's obviously got to be an upscale but it looks nearly native 4k. It does not disappoint. This is the best Iron Man has ever looked. I did notice in a few scenes where the picture looked a little blurry, but this was usually things in the background and doesn't largely effect the 4k experience. Overall it's a must have for any MCU fan.

A decent upgrade of the film that started the MCU

Disney's 4K UHD transfer of 2008's "Iron Man" is overall a pleasing effort, even if digital noise reduction takes away a certain amount of film grain and the release lacks the second disc of supplements found in Paramount's original 2008 Blu-ray release. If you still have the original 2-disc set, you might want to hold onto it if you're a fan of bonus material.

Overall, the UHD edition is a worthy upgrade. Colors are stronger on this release and despite the presence of noise reduction, there is a noticeable amount of improved detail. As for the film, it remains a fun kickoff for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Is the steelbook worth it? It is if you're like me and want the original poster art on the cover. It's far more appealing than the dreadful Photoshop monstrosities the regular editions are released in.
