I purchased this the day it came out! this game is awesome. I did the first 30 day workout and I tell you I sweat like crazy from the running, the boxing, the inline skating down to the the side lunges... You really feel the burn and the bicep curls and tricep workout does tone you up...now just looking to put a routine together.. this combined with my membership at 24 hour will help me keep off the weight! now the bad is the nunchuk you have to keep pulling it out then back in the holder.. ugh. then the leg strap you have to really fasten tight or else it will fall and loosen. Overall this is a must buy the amount of activities on top of you can actually use your balance board you cannot go wrong Good job EA and good job Best buy for carrying this item!
What's great about it: you sweat and feel sore the next day

I've never worked out before in my life and I'm 100lbs over weight but I still was able to use this product. I'm going to start using my own tension band with the product because the one included doesn't give me a workout. It is too loose and puts no strain on my muscles at all. Another problem I experienced was that the velcro on the leg strap rubs my thighs and leaves scratches. The easy fix for this is to work out in pants. The only other complaint I have is more of a personal one: I have a knee injury that prevents me from doing all the workouts. The game is great in the fact that it lets me pick and choose which workouts I can/want to do. I just uncheck all the squats and lunges and then I'm on my merry way.
I'd definitely reccommend this to someone new to the workout scene. It is great at demonstrating how to do the exercises, it tracks your meal and workout schedule, and it tells you how many calories you've burned.
What's great about it: Great for people who have never worked out before.
What's not so great: The tension band doesn't have much tension.

I bought the EA Sports Active personal trainer in an attempt to stick to a New Year's resolution. Thankfully, it has worked! I have read that people have a difficult time getting the game to register their movement. I have found that when that happens, it is my own fault for not following the directions properly. There are videos for each exercise that show and tell you exactly what you need to do. The resistance band is weak and I ended up breaking mine after 6 weeks, but I liked having a weak band to start out with. I think that I would have gotten frustrated starting out with a stronger band. I have lost fat and gained muscle using this product and have recommended it to my friends. It is cheaper than a gym membership and easier to motivate myself to do than driving to the gym.
What's great about it: Easy to get going and sticking to it

I bought EA active a little bit after the new year. It is such a great workout! Although I think this one works out your legs and arms more that the rest of your body. After you're done you feels so good that you burned that many calories on the counter and then some. The diary lets you input what you've eaten and other activities you've done. I think this is a great start if you want to get moving and you lose pounds while you're having fun.

I bought this the day it came out and have not been disappointed yet. I purchased the Wii about two weeks ago as I love video games but am tired of sitting and playing them. I also wanted a good workout program as well. I originally bougth the Wii Fit however that became old very fast. In just the first week I had unlocked half the advanced options.
Fast forward to the ES Sports Active. The graphics are very high quality for a program such as this. It's really nice watching the character do exactly what you do (as well as it can.)
My one big complaint about the Wii Fit is that you have to tell it what you want to do. With the Active 30 day challenge, it sets up workout programs for you. All you have to pick is the intensity of the workout. I actually started off with easy thinking anything more would kick my butt. The easy was actually easy although I still sweated pretty heavily during it. The next time I used it I did normal. I may move up to hard/advanced to get a harder workout in.
The resistance band is actually pretty week, but it's really hard to pick a resistance for everyone to include. I think I'll just go to Walmart to get a higher resistance band for a few bucks. The nunchuck holder though is great. Very nice and acurate when doing exercises that measure that area of the body. Since I have the Wii Fit I have used the Balance Board with it as well. I believe the Balance Board is a must have for the game to add all the capabilities to it.
I truely can't think of anything bad to say about it yet. It's nice having a workout partner right there with you that does the actions with you. I felt sometimes the trainer was in the room with me. I hope they can make something like thsi again in the future after maybe I do the 30 day challenge twice and need a new 30 day challenge.
What's great about it: Fun, Good Graphics, Nice program timeline

I bought the wii fit back in February and have since purchased; My Fitness Caoch, Gold's Gym Cardio Workout and now the EA Active. Each of the program/game was worth the money spent, but EA Active, I feel is the best of them. I have created my own workout and also worked out with a friend. I've started the easy 30 day Challenge and plan on continuing with the other intensities of the Challenge.
What's great about it: Can create own workout. Can workout with a friend. First time exercise demos.

A Wii Workout that's very customizable!
I classify myself as a fitness enthusiast and am in pretty good shape.
Background: I own Wii Fit. I love its stretching and balancing aspects, but cardio-wise, it misses the mark. I also own Gold's gym and LOVE it. The Wii Active feels like the offspring of these two programs.
I have done Wii Active for the past week. I can CHOOSE to work out easy one day to such an intensity that some of my muscles will quiver when I'm done the next.
Pros: 1. You can create your own workouts, including intensity and length.
2. You can skip any preprogrammed exercise. A must if something doesn't feel right that day or if you're on the mend.
3. The program encourages the value of rest days. I used to use the credo "No pain, no gain." Now in my forties, I need those rest days to heal and prevent further injury.
4. The variety of exercises is divided into 3 body improving sections--cardio, legs, and arms.
5. The Wii Balance Board is optional--it does bring balance and step value to the exercises.
Cons: 1. The resistance band is flimsy. I use my own.
2. DO NOT USE A WIRELESS NUNCHUCK! It will not work with many of the exercises.
3. Sometimes your Mii will be out of sync.
4. Sometimes you will have to redo an exercise rep because it doesn't log correctly with the Wii. Hold the remote and nunchuck perfectly, as per the video instructions, and this issue should resolve itself.
5. It's a tight fit to get the nunchuck into the pocket of the leg strap--but now I'm being picky.
Some last thoughts I DID NOT have an issue with the leg strap falling down. I secure it over my shorts and DIRECTLY UNDER my butt cheek. It's tight but not enough to cut off circulation or be a hindrance.
Position the nunchuck facing down and to the right as the video instructs when in the leg strap.
I like the repetitive encouragement, especially when I'm getting fatigued. It lets me know I'm still doing the exercise at the appropriate intensity
What's great about it: variety and intensity is customizable

I had no idea that this game, if that's what you want to call it, would be so tough (in a good way!). I am absolutely delighted that this product exceeded my expectations of how it would function. This game makes me sweat from places on my body that I didn't know had sweat glands, haha. The running, track, and boxing exercises are what get my heart pumping to the max. I just love the variety of exercises that they offer in the game. I am doing the '30-day Challenge' right now and I just adore that each day I get to do something different in my routine (yesterday I got to dance!). I never get bored. Since the routines are so much fun I end up going through an entire workout, get to the end, but get upset that it's over. It makes me want to do more! I never thought I'd be excited to workout.
The resistance band is a great addition to game. Many have complained that the band that comes with the game is weak. I felt the same way at first but I increased it's resistance by shortening the length of the band between the two handles. Boom! Instant increase in resistance!! How hard was that to do?!! I really do like the fact that you can also create your own custom workout. As an added cardio blast after a workout with my trainer, I created a routine that's pure running and boxing. How cool is that? At the end of each workout session I am literally drenched in sweat. I haven't worked up a sweat like that in quite some time. I plan to recommend this game to EVERYONE I know who owns a Wii! * ************************ P.S. - To everyone complaining about the game not registering your movements, you guys must not be holding the remotes properly, seating the nunchuk in the pocket properly, wearing the leg strap at the proper height, or something. I have yet to have the trainer or game tell me that I'm not standing correctly or holding a pose well. The only time it told me to 'Stand Still' was when I reached to scratch my head in between doing lunges.
P.S.S.. - I don't understand the people who are faulting this game because of the cord on the remotes. That is not EA's fault. They created the game based off of the current way the Wii is constructed. Nintendo should be the one criticized for not making the remotes cordless. In addition, Nintendo needs to upgrade the Wii so I see my games in hi-def.
What's great about it: This will truly make you work up a sweat, works every part of your body, oh and it makes you sweat...
What's not so great: My trainer (the guy) is cute...makes it hard for me to want to stop exercising. Ha ;)
