This TV is my first venture into LCD's. After a huge amount of time spent looking at reviews, prices and features I decided to go with this Samsung. The picture quality is amazing for a 900 dollar set, especially when hooked up to my 360 through HDMI for games and DVDs. There is little to no trailing or blurring, even in the fastest moving games (GTA 4 for example). The only problem I had with the TV is that when connected to a standard TV signal there is some noticeable blurring if you are closer than 10 feet from the set, which isn't a problem with my living room set up. HD channels look amazing!
The colors of this TV are incredible, and rival that of TV's in the $1500 dollar range. I only wish I had the extra 600 bucks to spend for the 120htz processor to take care of some of the trailing effects during extremely fast motion sequences. The sound is adequate for watching TV at night or when you don't need it loud, and I would recommend a home theater system for when you do want things to go BOOM!
I would highly recommend this TV to anyone with a budget. The 900 dollar price tag is close to that of bargain brands, but with picture quality that blows anything in that price range out of the water, and rivals TV's going for double that price!

I purchased this tv actually in Omaha NE at Nebraska Furniture Mart when I was actually looking for some furniture about a year and 2 months. At first I had just over the air HD channels then decided to get hd cable. Now I have Dish HD and wow, after daily use for at least couple hours every day, it consistently works with no issues.
I did absolutely no research on this tv at all, pretty much just compared the pictures from other sets, this one won hands down. I did purchase the optional extended warranty so of course I haven't had any issues, had I not, probably would have died a day after the manufactures warranty ran out. I gave this to my parents for the family room since their Hitachi projection screen tv of 8 years died. I am buying another one, to replace it, however in 120hz. My parents are in their 50's and love it. It is hooked up via monster hdmi cables to the sat and also the sony dvd sound system as I didn't like the speakers. I have always had my tv hooked up to a sound system.
With all these electronics these days made in China, I just hope my next one works as good as this one. I think the other brands probably have the same issues ie not turning on, just quit, etc. lets face it they are all made in China.
And as always, now this tv is about $300 less than last year, but at least I did get 0% for 3yrs.
What's great about it: Crisp Pictures in HD channels or 1080 upconvert dvd
What's not so great: If it is an action movie or game, some pixelation occurs, i barely watch those so don't care
I would recommend this to a friend!

This Tv is way slimer than the previous model the 40a530.... it has rich colors, and deep black levels. The picture just looks so realistic. The price for this set makes it a steal! Speakers arent that great but i dont care i will soon be purchasing a home theater system. User friendly menus from the remote and many feature to enhance the picture quality.
What's great about it: Great Picture and Great Price
What's not so great: None
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this TV a week ago and I could not have been happier. I had read some reviews that said the speakers were not good but for my medium shaped bedroom this TV does more than deliver. At 50% volume it sounds virtually surround. The picture is spectacular and the remote control is handy and very easy to use. My only complaint is that there are only 3 HDMI inputs and no side inputs, which would be convenient. I have a BluRay upconvert player, Comcast, and a PS3. If i wanted to add in a HD Sound system i would have no where to connect without buying an expensive reciever. I know some people are wondering why i would have a Bluray player and a PS3 and mostly was because i have over 150 DVDs that would not be near HD quality if played through the PS3 and the BluRay player also connects wirelessly to the internet for a netflix subscription, which simply can not be beat. For this price I could not imagine buying ANY other TV.
What's great about it: Style - Picture - Sound (small room)
What's not so great: 3 HDMI inputs

I purchased a LN40A530 six months ago and love it…quality, sound, everything about it is great. The only issue is that it will not fit in our new cabinet so I went out and purchased the LN40B530 couple of days ago because it is 2 inches smaller.
While the TV is indeed a bit smaller that is not all that has changed - I am disappointed that SAMSUNG has taken the path of providing less in order to achieve an artificial price point.
The new LN40B530 has a number of missing features –
No audio jack to allow for private listening
No side inputs that allow for a quick connection to a camera or playstation unit.
No backlit remote – very nice feature on the previous unit and speaking of remotes (the new remote seems to have less features and also seems flimsier) .
So my recommendation is to find an older LN40A530 at a possibly discounted price (much better value)
What's great about it: Overall size, picture quality
What's not so great: no audio jack for headset, no lit remote, no side inputs
I would recommend this to a friend!

Beautiful picture

My only real complaint is that the TV only has one component input - my Wii, PS2 (yes... PS2), and DVD player all feature component as their only hi-def output (technically the Wii only supports enhanced definition). I'll be getting an HDMI-supporting DVD player soon, but I'll need to get an external source selector for the Wii and PS2.
The good news is that the TV has 3 HDMI inputs as well as a VGA input (with RCA sound inputs). I can hook up my laptop using high resolution (and watch Hulu.com in hi-def!) and the 3 HDMI inputs mean I have room to grow for a few years.
I'm picky with TV brands, so while Samsungs may cost more than say, Vizio or Sceptre, I'm comforted by the fact that it comes from one of the top manufacturers. Having worked in a TV repair shop, I know that Samsungs are much easier to get replacement parts for and also repair manual availability is higher. This means that if the TV ever breaks after warranty, repairs will be much cheaper and less stressful.
What's great about it: Trim looks classy, the picture is amazing, and sounds great as well
What's not so great: Only 1 component input, remote's a little clunky
I would recommend this to a friend!

Beautiful clarity, the colors are crisp & the picture looks awesome from any distance/ angle. I had the Geek Squad hang it on the wall & they were quick, efficient & educational along the way. I highly recommend the TV & it was sure was worth the professional install!
What's great about it: TV was easy to set up, just like the instructions said!!

Have to say that this is one great TV. The picture quality is amazing in it's clarity and color. I found the factory presets to be adquate for my needs. The menue is very easy to use. All in all I would say this LCD is head and shoulders above any comparable one. As a final nice touch the price was outstanding for a 40" LCD at $900.
What's great about it: Very sharp picture.
What's not so great: None I can think of now.
I would recommend this to a friend!
