Best thing I ever bought. Records my Cable (Set top box) HD programming. No TiVo fee's. I can record an HD show and with my HD TV, I can watch TV on my HD Antenna or watch a show I recorded. Skipping pesky commercials :)
It does not include an IR R/T which it needs to change the channel to record what you program.
What's great about it: Easy to set up - records shows in HD!!!
What's not so great: It could say in description it does not include an IR Reciever.

I have my pc hooked to home theater projector and my roof antenna run into this usb tv tuner card. The set up was very easy and the picture quality is great. However, if I maximize the size of the video to fill the screen, the video is extremely choppy. I'm not sure if this is a graphics card issue or what. I know that this tv tuner uses a lot of power from your graphics card. I'm running the nividia 7100 with 256mb graphics card. If it's not the graphics card, then this is a horrible buy, but not sure what would be better. 3 stars until I determine why the choppy video.

My main purpose for buying the tv tuner was to capture old vhs tapes so I could transfer them to dvd. Thank goodness for 3rd party video capture software programs. WinTV is far from stable on my newly purchased HP desktop (also bought from best buy). USB turner is great (does get hot at times) when used with non-Happauge software.
What's great about it: easy to set up, does the job
What's not so great: everything on the installation cd & Hauppauge's website

I was skeptical when I first found this product. I was trying to replace the capability I had of recording from my Uverse box through a DVD-RAM based DVR, to my computer(so I could edit and burn to a DVD-R). I wasn't looking forward to spending $200-300 for another DVD-RAM-based DVR, especially when they were all fair to poor ratings. I found this product, and it does everything I need! And it doesnt have the ridiculous (macrovision?) lockdown that was preventing me from recording some shows. This product is GREAT!
What's great about it: Amazing functionality for a very small price!

I caught this gadget on sale for $49.95 but even at full price it's a great gadget. My niece did not have a TV in her dorm room in college but she did have a laptop so this was a cheap way to get her a TV. I liked it so much I bought one for myself as well. It's handy when your regular cable box/DVR is tied up and you need to record something else simultaneously.
The Titantv.com website makes it really handy to record shows that although some of my unscrambled QAM channels would not record by clicking on the website. You could however manually set up a recording so that worked okay.
Note that unlike some other reviews, you do NOT need an extra infrared receiver to make the remote work. There is an infrared pickup on the device itself although the cheap little remote is a little bit flaky. The buttons pushed very hard. It's really just easier to control the thing on your computer.
Overall a wonderful gadget highly recommended.
What's great about it: DVR function is really handy. Turns your laptop into a TV/DVR
What's not so great: Some unscrambled QAM channels don't work from website

Downloaded the latest drivers from Happauage webpage before installation, no problems with installation on Windows 7. Tried the included TV software which is just terrible. Scanned my cable channels and labeled all of them unknown. I could tune to each channel just fine, but except for a few memorized ones (for instance I remembered 32 was ESPN), had know clue which was which since none of them were labeled. Terrible software and weak interface.
Thanks to info from another reviewer, I tried it with Windows Media Center and it worked great. Found all my analog channels plus network digital channels and labeled them appropriately. (CBS, NBC, Comedy Channel, Cartoon Network, etc.)
Channels were clear and crisp, could easily change channels and use the program guide. Programs also recorded fine with Window Media Center, it really is like having a Tivo on your PC. I could watch a previously recorded program while it was recording another show. Haven't tried with supplied antenna, so can't attest to how well it works with it.
Device works great, just have some other software to use with it other than what's included.
What's great about it: Super easy to install, works great paired with Windows Media Center

Read all the reviews and decided to take a chance. Before I bought it, I went to antennaweb to see how many channels I could reasonably expect to get (11). Set-up was great. I started by just letting my computer do its thing, and installed using HP Mediasmart. Total install time for this was 7 minutes. I was up and running with 13 channels, all crystal clear! Since everything went so smoothly, I figured that I would go ahead and install the software that came with the tv tuner. Following directions (sort of, never really pay alot of attention to them), total set-up time was 15 minutes. Again, no issues, no problems, and 13 crystal clear channels! The only slight issue that I have been able to find is that the included remote operates both HP Mediasmart and Win7. Once I figured out which button to push, everything worked flawless. If you have any common sense when it comes to installing hardware/software on your computer, this is the way to go!!!! Goodbye Comcast!
