Fantastic sound... while they lasted

I've been a Klipsch fan ever since a stereo salesman shook the floor playing Stravinsky's Firebird Suite through a pair of Klipschorns some 30 years ago. The quality and clarity of sound at what should have been ear-shattering volume was incredible. No distortion - no pain - just brilliant treble, fantastic midrange, and stunning, thundering bass.
I couldn't afford the horns but I did enjoy a Klipsch subwoofer for years.
When I tried the ProMedia system in a store it sounded terrific. Took one home and loved it so much I bought another one for my TV (and its computer). With these speakers and a computer running iTunes I didn't even need a stereo system. Sound quality was that good.
Unfortunately after less than three years, both ProMedia systems are dead. The right-side channel of the amplifier died on one system, and soon after that the subwoofer on the other stopped producing sound.
I took the two systems to an audio repair shop, and they combined parts from both failed systems to create one working system. I bought a cheaper (non-Klipsch) set to replace the other.
After a couple of months this remaining ProMedia system began to make very loud clicks. Couldn't find a way to stop this. Had to shut the system down and listen to the TV through its tinny little built-ins.
Did some research and found that the kind of failures I experienced are common in ProMedia 2.1 systems - and have been for years.
Got a new set of speakers for Christmas, made by a competing brand which I know from experience is reliable. The ProMedia system is sitting by the door, waiting to go to recycling.
I won't be buying another Klipsch product - and I'm no longer a fan.

I was shopping for a nice upgrade to my Mac desktops factory built-in speakers after 4 years. I was listening to the Logitech Z313 at only $30 on sale at my local Best Buy, as well as the Insignia sets, Bose and the Klipsch Promedia 2.1. The Insignia sounded kind of cheap, the Bose is just not worth the money to me, and the Logitech seemed the best for the money, even though the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 was clearly the best sounding - at $155 for the set, it was out of my range. I was walking to the cashier with the $30 Logitech set when I saw a floor display with the Kplisch Promedia 2.1 on sale for $140, so on an impulse buy, I decided to go with them since they were on sale. I kind of wanted to treat myself to a nice set since I was treated everyone else for Christmas. Lol. First thing I noticed is the box for the Klipsch is three times bigger than the Logitech set!
Anyway, I get home and hook it all up. Extremely east to set-up and the set is very well put together and attractive to the decor of my desk set-up. I turned it on and listened to some Jason Mraz. The set sounded great out of the box. Only thing I noticed was the bass was very loud and a bit boomy. It could be because the sub is located underneath my dek where the enclosure of the area may be acting as a bass enhancer in itself. Not too bad - just a little too much loose bass were it does not sound too balanced. Again, I am being very critical as it sounds simply amazing regardless. It does have a bass control knob right at the speaker, so it can easily be adjusted, but being an avid listener to music, I do not want to lose certain frequencies in my music, so I downloaded the BOOM app online which is meant to increase volume, but I used it for its built-in equalizer that can allow me to reduce whatever frequencies I want in the bass that can prevent the boominess of the sub, yet keep the other frequencies that make the music sounds so great. Once I set the equalizer to my specific needs, it was AWESOME! Absolutely perfect! I set the lower frequencies down a lot, then jumped up the mids and highs a little and WOW! I am stunned by the difference and it originally sounded so great! I saved my eq settings, then went back to the old equalizer setting just to compare and man-o-man what a difference!
I HIGHLY recommend this set more than anything else in this price range - and even up to the $250 price range! Sounds amazing, looks fabulous and very reasonably priced. Not to mention very easy to set-up. I also recommend using an equalizer (download the boom app or similar, easy to do and to set) as this will really fine tune things to your surroundings and liking. You will be floored by the results as I was. Anyone not giving this set high ratings just does not what they are doing with the set-up. As far as the longevity of the product goes - time will tell. But a BIG thumbs up to a great set!
What's great about it: Very easy to set-up - anyone can do it easily. Price point is just about right for the level of great sound.
What's not so great: Bass is a bit boomy, but a little equalizing got it just right.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Klipsch is a good speaker company, they also makes speakers for many of the theaters. For a computer speaker system (this one THX certified) it has decent bass and the clarity of the trebles is unlike any other. My neighbors hate my guts. I highly recommend!!
What's great about it: Sound
What's not so great: Minimal/Simplistic approach towards design

I look for a couple of things when comparing products I want to buy. First and foremost does it meet my needs. Secondly, recommendations from people I know and trust. Last, but not least, ratings. These speakers met, and exceeded my currents needs. A trusted friend has been encouraging me for over a year to purchase these. Over 350 5 star ratings is another reason I looked at these. I have done my research and after everything was considered, haven't really heard a bad thing about them that matters to me.
Bottom line: These speakers are well worth $150. My friend has been using his for nearly 6 years now and I've listened to them countless times. His 6 year old ones sound just as good as my brand new ones. If these are in your price range, they should be your number one choice. You don't have to have the volume blasting in order to get any bass. The bass is plentiful at any volume.
I usually try to find at least one negative about products in my review, even if it's a trivial one. So I guess this system could be... better looking... It's a decent looking system but nothing special, but then again... that doesn't really matter.
Buy them and enjoy great sound for years!

The Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers offer the truest audio reproduction within a large margin of their price range, and they blow the pants off any Bose system.
If you are battling between this system and any of the Bose Companion sets, take into consideration that none of the Bose sets have tweeters, only full-range speakers and a woofer. What do tweeters do? Sizzle, cymbal splash, open-air sounds, and sparkle. Hearing the Klipsch set is like hearing real instruments.
Not that Bose sets are bad, but most consumers tend to think they are the cream of the crop, while audiophiles have known for years they are only the most cleverly marketed speakers.
The Bose low-end reproduction has nothing on Klipsch either, which will render some of the richest bass sounds you have ever FELT.
You cannot go wrong with these speakers for music, movies, home theater, or any consumer application.
What's great about it: Absurdly incredible sound for this price range, and audio reproduction at a level most people have never heard.
What's not so great: Homelessness.
I would recommend this to a friend!
