We purchased Ooma after extensive comparison to others. Price and features were great. We eliminated our monthly phone bill, hook up was extremely easy including porting over your existing phone number. I would highly recommend this product.

An outstanding product! No more phone bills people. This is the real deal! We've had this system for almost a year and its paid for itself already. We're saving $35 a month on phone bills ($420 a year!). You get all the options; like caller id, call waiting, etc. Plus much more( some services you have to pay for, but are not required). I just hope Ooma can keep this up. The only issue we've had was porting our current phone number over to Ooma(which you must pay for). At the time, customer service was just plain bad, but since then it has definitely improved. Ooma is one of the truly great products that rarely come around. Highly recommended! Update: with the exception of he equipment and porting, Ooma was totally free. Now you have to pay monthly taxes of a few dollars a month. Still a great deal!
What's great about it: Pay little to no phone bill again!

the OOMA works as advertised. It was easy to setup and the customer service was very helpful. The tone quality when using the OOMA was similar to a land line. Can't wait to get rid of my telephone company.
What's great about it: Easy to setup and good tone quality

We ordered the Ooma one month ago. So far the only problems we've had were due to issues with our internet provider (AT&T Uverse user). There were a few times where it lost connection. We had to change our internet subscription at the same time as adding Ooma and it was AT&T's issue not Ooma. Most of the time we have a very clear connection though every once in awhile (1 time per week or so) you can hear a little glitch while you're talking on the phone. Our recent phone bill with Oooma was $3.73, so this is pretty cheap for local and long distance calling. So far, we like it pretty well for our family. The initial price of the unit will be recovered in 4 months of what we had been paying for phone service overall.
What's great about it: Low monthly price for phone service
What's not so great: Every once in a while you can tell its an internet phone.

Easy set up and works like a charm. However....... My DSL is bundled with my phone.Having stand alone high speed Internet would actually cost me more. Instead, I purchased a Bluetooth capable cordless phone and cancelled long distance on my land line. I now pay $38/mnth for AT&T land line with DSL. All my long distance calls are routed through my cell.
I envy the people who are able to utilize Ooma and all it's great features.
What's great about it: Easy set up. Invisible operation.
What's not so great: Porting your number is a hassle. Mobile app sucks.

I have no tech savvy, but just plugged it in and it works great. I have cable company internet, a slower service may not work as well. Faxes work great, also. Only complaint is cost. Purchase price is too high, and the basic free service does not include caller-id and some other things. If you want that it's $9.99/month.

Tried to connect with my Apple Airport Extreme; tried every possible installation option, per instructions; was on the phone with OOMA customer service, who offered advice and seemed competent. Depending on how it was configured, I either got great phone reception or great internet connections, but I could not get both at once -- obviously a major problem. It's possible that some manipulation of the Airport Extreme or OOMA preferences or settings might have solved this problem -- however, there was nothing in the instructions or customer service advice that pointed to a solution: this, in itself, seems to me to be a rather substantial problem. With great regret, I de-activated the OOMA service (you must activate the service with your credit card to begin the installation process) and returned the unit to Best Buy. I had no problems with de-activation or with returning the product. I give the product 3 stars (rather than just 1) since I suspect that the box works fine in other contexts, and I don't want to discourage potential customers from trying it out.
What's great about it: Great idea, good customer phone service
What's not so great: Didn't work with my Airport Extreme router
