Voice quality is good and it has a long list of advanced features. My unit would not connect, but Ooma tech support did get it working after a couple of days of back and forth. If you use Back-to-my-Mac or a UPnP or NAT-PMP media server the Ooma Telo is not compatible with those configurations, because it provides it own DHCP server that you can't disable and is supposed to be installed ahead of your router. I got it to work by installing after router and it seems to be working OK. Check out the details and FAQ's on the Ooma website. Plan on getting the Premiere service. At $10 a month its a bargain considering the features and compared to AT&T, Vonage or cable providers VOIP services.
What's great about it: Best VOIP phone solution for the features and price.
What's not so great: Not compatible with some network configurations.

I've been using the Telo now for 2 weeks and so far everything works great. I connected it directly to my cable modem and then connected the router to the Telo. Connecting the Telo to the router caused a delay in sound, but connecting it directly to the router fixed that. International calls are also inexpensive (need to add money to the account first before you can make international calls). Great product for free phone service aside from the required taxes (which is about $4/month for me).
What's great about it: Free aside from required taxes
I would recommend this to a friend!

Setup was easy and pretty straight forward. Read other reviews about set up but I just followed instructions and it worked. Was going to try and use land line w/ Ooma for a few days but wanted house phones to ring through Ooma so did not continue. I have cable modem and the call quality is excellent. With our cell phone we never come close to using our minutes but I do not want to give every tom, dick and harry my cell number. I do not plan on using the premium service in Ooma. Get want I want from my Google Voice number plus I can forward GV to any number if something happens to Ooma. If not for GV I would give the premium service a whirl. And you can fax!
Two of my daughters have a M.J. and the call quality is no where near what Ooma produces.
Over all the Ooma is a little pricey but if they stay in business at least for a few years I will come out ahead.
Want to call anywhere in USA, get great call quality and save some $, give Ooma a try.
What's great about it: Pretty easy setup, good call quality
What's not so great: expensive but...
I would recommend this to a friend!

I started my OOMA service on March 4th. The installation directions were easy to follow and the phone system was working within 15 minutes of me opening the box. It’s a sleek looking box, comes with all the cords I needed, and I essentially just had to switch some plugs and cables from the internet and plug it in. It took a few minutes to boot up, exactly like the instructions said. The phone call to register went perfect. After using it a week, I liked it, and know I was going to keep the system, so I ported my number over. They emailed me a date the change was going to take affect that was about 3 weeks out. They emailed me during that period, giving me updates on the process. It was switched the day they had originally said, and it works great. The clarity is excellent, I love the voice mail features. I just wish they gave you an option to plug a regular phone into the box for the second line, instead of making you buy their wireless phone. I had a few questions about billing, and features. I had read criticisms from other reviews in the past. My experience was totally different. Someone answered the phone within one minute; they spoke clear English, and were easy to understand. I would bet they are now taking calls in the US rather than overseas. The person on the phone knew the answer to the questions, and was very helpful. I would defiantly recommend OOMA to anyone wanting to save money on paying an ongoing monthly fee for a landline.
What's great about it: easy to set up, good customer service, quality call sound
What's not so great: they require you to buy their wireless phone to use both lines at once
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall I love this product.
There was a little echo in the phone until after I configured QOS. QOS fixed the issue and now the handsets sound great.
I wish it didn't have to physically hook into the router / modem because that is not a convenient location for the Telo unit to be located. I wish it were a wireless network connection.
I had a little issue activating the service online because of having a different billing & mailing address and had to call customer service to resolve it. They answered my call quickly and were very helpful.
It took a little bit of trial and error to get it up and running, but overall it only took about 30 minutes (I have a complex home network, so that was really the issue, not the Telo itself). I would recommend this product to anyone who can afford the up-front $250 and $50 each for the handsets. I think it's a little pricey, but over a few months of having no phone bills to pay, the savings will outweigh the initial cost.
Before buying I was reading the promotional materials and it seemed like you could have multiple phone numbers in different area codes. It turns out that you CAN have this feature, but you only get one additional area code number for free. After that one, you have to pay a monthly fee for any additional ones. It would have been nice to provide a free phone number for a couple of my relatives to call me instead of just one of them.
There is no headset jack on the handsets or the base. That would have been a handy feature to include for those longer phone calls. It gets tiring holding the little telo handset up to your ear for a long period of time. There is a speaker phone feature, but that is not always convenient.
It was easy & fun to configure my contacts list with the online tools. You can even group them by "Family", "Friends", "Emergency Services", or whatever you like. Handy. It would be really cool if the telo handsets had the ability to display the picture of the person calling instead of just the text name.
I can't speak for the longevity of the product because I have only had it for one month. So far, so good.
What's great about it: Free phone calls. Ability to blacklist unwanted callers. Good call clarity (After QOS configured)
What's not so great: A little pricey for the Telo & handsets. QOS not set up out of the box. No headset jack.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a great little device. I had this plugged in to my DSL router in 5 minutes and started receiving calls about 10 minutes after opening the box. That is fast and easy. Honestly .. this reminds me on an Apple product ... simple - straighforward - easy.
For the folks who say, "Ir doesnt' work for me" you may wish to check your broadband connectivity. Just because you have DSL or Cable doesn't mean this will work for you.
With my non-scientifific research, I'm guessing you'll need AT LEAST 1.5 Mpbs downstream and 512 kpbs per second upstream to get a realible connection. I have 7Mmps downstream, so Im OK.
Works great .. I would recommend this to all my friends and family! Good bye phone bill!
What's great about it: Price, features
What's not so great: Nothing!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ooma works like a dream! Better than Vonage because you don't have to pay a monthly rate, and better than the magic jack because it is not computer dependent. I have personally never had a problem with the quality of my phone service, or with service outages with Ooma. Very easy to follow instructions for connecting it and getting it to work. I have had it for over a year, and my whole family loves it!
What's great about it: Its free phone service for life!
What's not so great: a bit pricey to get the equipment, but pays for itself in a year.
I would recommend this to a friend!
