This device saves me money - I pay just over $4 per month taxes & fees, compared with a huge long distince bill I used to get, plus I chose a phone number that is local to my mom and other family members so they can call me with no long distance charges. I live in a very rural area where I do not get cell phone reception, and the ooma allows me to make unlimited long distance calls at no charge. My phone box took a lightning hit last week, and fried everything that was hooked up to it (desktop pc, TV, DSL moden, and yes, the ooma Telo). The phone company fixed the damaged phone and dsl lines and replace my modem. I called Ooma customer service regarding no connection after the phone was restored.. They were courteous in helping me trouble-shoot my problem, which turned out to be a ruined Internet(in) phone jack and they replaced my telo free of charge.
What's great about it: Ease of use, customer support
I would recommend this to a friend!

After trying magic jack for nearly a year, I finally had all I could handle. Magic Jack was constantly echoing, poor voice quality, occasional static, and use of your computer or any other device requiring internet service simultaneously was out of the question. It was a poor replacement for a primary line for home service. Hesitant, I decided to do more research into VOIP providers including online services and more well known services such as Vonage, etc. If I wanted voyage's prices, I would have resumed my home phone through the telephone company. None the less, after using magic jack, I was skeptical. I did a lot of research and reviews of other customers before deciding to try the coma. I have to say, I've had the device nearly a month now and have been extremely satisfied. I honestly cannot tell any difference in call quality in comparison to that of a landline from the local telephone company. In fact, I believe it may even be better. NO echoes, no static, no computer required to be on at all times and not in use. Your main internet connection is fed into the coma device. It prioritizes calls over all other internet traffic. This results in significantly improved call quality. Before you go thinking...that must slow down internet speeds and delay other web services- NO, it doesn't. I still play movies through netflix on my xbox wirelessly with HD playback uninterrupted. I surf the net, watch HD movies online all while enjoying great call quality. I have had NO issues with caller id and have even ported my old magic jack number into my new coma account. I pay a modest 3.57 a month for the taxes and 911 charges to coma. In exchange, I receive unlimited nationwide calling. No complaints here!!! There has only been one instance of service interruption that I know of. It lasted approximately 4-5 hours and was a nationwide outage. Ooma was quickly restored. I checked online and according to bloggers and other ooma customers, the last outage had been nearly a year prior. I can deal with ooma being down 4-5 hours a year. When I had regular phone service- I had more problems. Probably down for routine maintenance anyway. Overall, I would recommend this product.
What's great about it: Great quality in calls, Cheap price!
What's not so great: I wonder how long it will last (the company- not device)
I would recommend this to a friend!

It took me about 30 minutes to have it completely setup. I tested it with the temporary number that I chose for a couple days and then requested to have my number ported. My number was ported in 9 days. Got my first monthly bill for $3.47 I will make back the $200 for the unit and $40 for porting my number in 5 months and then be saving $50 a month. Thank you Ooma!!! Bye, Bye Phone company
What's great about it: Everything. Free calls anywhere in the US. Works with my current Uniden Handheld phones
What's not so great: Nothing

I replaced both my AT&T landline and DSL service. Ooma is doing the voice side and Charter Communications is now the Internet side. My monthly cost for both voice and Internet has gone down from $95 monthly to $33.50 a month. I subscribed to the Ooma Premier service which adds $10 monthly to Ooma's basic charges. Set up the Ooma unit was a breeze and I ported over my AT&T number two days ago.
One consideration with any Internet phone service is power considerations. Obviously if you give up the land line and you have a power outage, your network equipment including the Ooma Telo device will fail. With Ooma's optional Premier service, loss of network connectivity will trigger Ooma's forwarding service. In my case that means my home phone number will ring to my cellular phone in case Internet connectivity fails.
I decided to add a battery backup UPS as a safety which will is connected to my Ooma Telo, my cable modem, and my router. This will give me 91 minutes of power backup to get me through the bumps that occasionally occur in the utility grid.
Set up was a breeze and with us approaching the three week mark with the service, I have no misgivings about finally breaking the tie to AT&T. Considering the initial cost of the Ooma Telo, a UPS, and my cable modem, I'll save about $200 year one. Beginning year two even with the increase in the cost of the Internet service from the initial promo rate, and considering my initial hardware costs will be paid, my annual savings will increase to over $500 monthly. I expect even more savings since AT&T seems to be increasing costs monthly for both voice and DSL service.
What's great about it: Set up and cost savings.
What's not so great: Another piece of technology in the home, need to consider power backup.

Should have done this years ago. Ported my old phone no. over with no problems, only took about a week. Had AT&T land line with DSL, kept that until my old phone no. ported, then went with a stand alone cable modem and dropped AT&T (with pleasure). If you disconnect your outside "customer access" phone/DSL lines coming into your house (easy), then you can plug the output from the Ooma to one of your phone jacks in your house, and then all the phone jacks in your house are connected to the Ooma. Sound quality is the same as my land line was, and if someone leaves you a message on the Ooma device, the power LED on your remote wireless phone cradle will blink indicating there is a message on the Ooma (pretty cool).
What's great about it: Savings / sound quality
What's not so great: Nothing yet

Outstanding VoIP system
on May 31, 2011

We purchased the Ooma Telo system from Best Buy about two weeks ago. It has worked flawlessly and, believe it or not, it was just as easy to install as what the manufacturer said! I just followed the simple instructions and had the system up and running in less than an hour (which is amazing if you knew how little I know about computers and electronics!!!). When you choose the Ooma, you will need to pick a new telephone number from the list you are given. From there, follow the directions and get ready for a crystal clear sound. Our monthly bill will be about $3.50 for taxes, etc. What a savings! The system should be paid for by the end of the year with just the saving on our monthly bill!
What's great about it: Ease of installation and quality of sound
What's not so great: A little pricey to begin with, but well worth it!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased the Ooma Telo at my local Best Buy on sale for $199.99 in early August.
I had it up and running including the online registration in less than half an hour.
The sound quality is outstanding, I have the base connected to one of the ethernet connections on my cable wireless modem/router.
I have a phone line splitter inserted in 1 of my phone wall jacks and the ooma phone out line connected to the splitter, all of my phones are now on the ooma system.
I had my existing phone number ported over the process took almost 4 weeks. After the number was ported over I cancelled my my old service now I am up and running on the ooma system only.
I went from paying approx. $35.00 a month to paying approx $3.47 a month(these are the mandatory taxes)
I have no need for the ooma premium services so my account is set up to cancel the service after the 2 free month trial is over.
The entire process to this point has been extremley easy. I highly recommend, wish I had done it sooner, my total expenses should be recouped in about 6 months after that it's no more pnone bills
What's great about it: easy set up, sound quality, no more phone bills
What's not so great: nothing so far

I was sick and tired of paying a monthly phone bill and I was told about Ooma from an acquaintance of mine. I was apprehensive at first and was worried about call quality and the "too good to be true" factor. I ended up taking the plunge about 6 months ago and I love it! The unit itself is a little costly, however it pays for itself in about 4-6 months depending on how much your old phone bill was. The call quality is fantastic and as long as you have a good enough internet connection (I recommend cable) there should be no problems. Voicemails can be automatically forwarded to your email and can also be listened to on the website. Overall it's a great purchase and I would recommend it anybody.
What's great about it: Great value & good way to get rid of a monthly expense
What's not so great: The setup is a little tricky
I would recommend this to a friend!
