Once you get it set up, it’s a great product, saves you tons of money on your monthly phone bill. The call quality is excellent. Setting it up the first time can be hard but you can go to the support website and get some tips. I love it I am using it everyday.
What's great about it: the price and the call quality

This product so far has been great; was very easy to set up (literally, plug it into AC and plug it into ethernet (with DHCP), and you're good to go. Go online (DO THIS FIRST) and complete the setup online including picking your phone number. My only gripe so far is there were no numbers available in Austin, TX (512 area code). Then logoff and the unit will update which takes about 15. We have the unit plugged into an AT&T U-verse box, and the U-Verse detected it as another router and automatically asked if it should be placed in a DMZ zone (I said yes). We have an AT&T cordless phone plugged in, with 3 handsets. Works great.
Very good call quality, love the dialtone. And the physical unit is VERY attractive and well-designed.
What's great about it: Easy to set up, looks sexy, nice features

Only additional insight I want to give is that this unit does not support 2 Phone Lines. You can set-up multiple phone numbers but it is shared on the same phone line in your house. Or, you could buy a Ooma phone that links to the Telo unit and then you can assign a specific phone number to that Ooma phone (as long as the Ooma phone is within range of the Telo). My VoIP phone service through TimeWarnerCable supports 2 phone lines and looks like I need to port my phone number back to TWC and cut my losses - Just wanted to warn others before you waste your time and money... If you only use one phone line, then I highly recommend this product.

My review is as same as smseattle on 12-29-09 and 1sandy1 on 2/12/2010. I have a new house with Cat 5 jacks and a wireless network with modem/router installed in master closet downstairs. After setting up ooma, I was unable to recieve incoming calls. I figured it was with portablity wait till phone number transfered. But after waiting 4 weeks, I called ooma support and could barely hear or understand tech because of all the background conversations/noise. I explained I did not have a traditonal old style phone jack and wireless modem/router was not at my computer. He did not seem to understand that. He was unable to help me fix problem. Very disappointed with product and service. Would only buy this if you have old phone jacks or modem/router next to or on your computer. Otherwise, dont waste you $$ on this product!
What's great about it: Nothing, still cant get incoming calls after 4 weeks.
What's not so great: Service, product doesnt work.

I am very disappointed with Ooma, They should (but don't) advise you that you absolutely can not use a fax machine, tivo or any other device, only phone service period! If I had known that I never would have purchased it. I guess thats why it's not mentioned anywhere. Check thier own website, they actually recommend a land line for these devices, so now I need both? wheres the savings in that? I also often receive calls from the Philippines. I have the highest comcast internet connection available and love it. But my Ooma calls from offshore are completely garbled and useless. When I had comcast voip I did not have any such problems. I would never recommend ooma to anyone except my enemies.
What's great about it: ok for local phone service
What's not so great: does not work with outside device ie.. Fax machine or tivo

Directions say that if you have to use a integrated modem and router system your voice quality will suffer. I have a high speed ATT DSL which uses a modem and router integrated. You can hear every word of the person you are talking to but they only hear every other word you say to them. Tried different phones, same problem. Checked my Internet speed, very good high speed. Called support and they had so much background noise that it was hard to understand them. The person I spoke to would come on and off the line. Very confusing. Finally after about twenty minutes of wasted time I hung up during one of the off line times, maybe they were using their own product. I think that this product would have worked fine if I would have had a separate modem and router Internet set-up. But even if it had worked I would still have a problem with their "tech" support. Not very good. Returned item to BestBuy.
What's great about it: Easy set-up
What's not so great: voice cuts out every other word.
