Unless the only things you do in the kitchen is boil water or cook with a microwave, I'd recommend against it, simply because it's far too nice a piece of equipment to expose to the grease particulates floating in the air that result from cooking. For example, the speaker grills don't seat against the fronts of the speakers, they stand off about 1/4", thereby leaving the speaker cones somewhat exposed.
You might check out the Sony under-cabinet CD player/clock radio that's specifically designed for kitchens and other workspaces. It's 1/2 the price and also rates 4.5 stars in BestBuy reviews.
