Hi - The VTech CS6114 requires connection to an electrical outlet and a telephone jack or modem to be operational. The phone is designed to work on analog, digital or VOIP residential type of service.
Measuring the voltage of a battery while not under a load will show it potential, but when you connect it up it can drop to a much lower voltage when the battery is going bad. measure the voltage while it is still connected. This will give you a better idea if it is working or not. Batteries do fail at times an they no longer can hold a charge. A Meter does not put a load on it, so it will seam fine. Then you install it an it goes dead right away.

Hi - We apologize if you are having issues with the battery of your VTech CS6114. Yes, you can purchase a battery for your telephone system, but you can also try these troubleshooting steps to rectify the issue: To ensure that the unit is charging, the charge LED light is on steady when the cordless handsets are cradled to the base. Also confirm that the electrical outlet is working and is not controlled by a wall switch. Since you have multiple handsets, try swapping batteries on one of the handsets and see if the issue follows the battery. Hope this helps! ~VTech Support
