A:

This microwave beeps four times when the food is cooked. If you leave the food in the oven it will beep once every minute until you open the door. There is no way to disable the beeps on this unit. And, it is significantly louder than the last microwave I had.

I actually found the beeping to be quite loud and did not find a way to deactivate it. The reminder beep (when you leave an item in the microwave) is also very annoying.

I find this GE to be pretty quiet. In fact the family even commented on how quiet it was during it's first use.

I had a similar sized and priced Kenmore and this GE is noticeably quieter.(Btw the Kenmore died after a little over a year of use)

Hello,
This is Joyce from GE. I will be happy to help. This model has a "cooking complete reminder" which means a beep will occur once every minute after the normal cooking cycle has ended. There isn't a way to deactivate this feature. Our microwaves are not tested for decibel ratings, dishwashers are the only GE products currently rated in decibels.

This microwave will fit in a very thick wall, however it may be very difficult to use it when it is inside the wall. But seriously, it is designed for use on a counter, or in a pantry, like I did.

If you are intending to "enclose" this in the wall, the answer would be no. The unit vents from the side and thus needs space to exhaust the heated air and moisture. Units meant to be installed in the wall will need a separate exhaust system.

I'm sorry; however, this microwave is a countertop microwave and does not accept a trim kit that can be installed in a wall. However, you may wish to look at model #PEB2060SMSS which will accept a trim kit.

No. You can't. The over the range microwave has vents install on the bottom. You can't put on the counter and have it secure. Plus the over the range microwave is ~30inches wide and ~24 inches deep. Too big for counter.

No I think you need to find one specifically designed for the counter as the oven model probably doesn't have the proper outer covering to put on a countertop. They are designed differently so stick with the one that is designed for the place you need it to be.

Hello Bob,

Installing a Spacemaker model on a countertop is not recommended for any length of time.
JVM models have built in hoods underneath which would not allow the model to be stable which could present a safety issue. Also, since air vents underneath unit may be blocked, the microwave could overheat & fail.
