As long as you have the right cables you should be fine. I bought an Acer monitor to use with this computer and it works great. I am using the HDMI port but the Dell has USB ports as well as a DMI port. I thought I would have to tinker with the settings on the monitor since ti is a different brand than the computer but I didn't have to.
If it is not so old it still has the standard VGA connector that plugs into the back, yes it will work. It would be better to have a newer higher res led or lcd monitor though.
This computer has a DMI port and USB ports. I bought a new monitor (Acer) with the computer and it works fine. I am using the HDMI port however. The DMI port is the small one, not the large one like years ago.
