A:

You'd need a receiver (or amp) between the TV and these speakers. If you want to add speakers to your TV without the amp, you should look for "powered" speakers. There are some good ones out there in the same price range but they're going to be significantly smaller. Maybe still sound as good tho.

6 ohms impedance speakers w/ 8 ohms amp

Q:

I currently have a 10 yr. old amp (Pioneer VSX-D812) and looking at these Pioneer Floor Speakers, which are 6 ohm impedance. The manual notes w/ an 'Important' icon: "Use speakers with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms to 16 ohms". Is that a recommendation? Do you foresee any issues w/ this set-up?

I am using an old Onkio amp that pumps out 8 ohms and these 6 ohm speakers sound great, no sweat for your amp to power these speakers, my 8 ohm amp sounds great!

I have seen amps die because the speakers are the wrong impedence. I would follow the manual's guidelines.

A:

You'll need a receiver that has HDMI inputs and your computer must connect to it via HDMI. You could also use an amplifier that accepts 3.5 mm input and connect your computer to it with a 3.5mm headphone cable. Same with the iPhone but you'll need bluetooth functionality or a 3.5mm input on the receiver.

You will need some sort of receiver or amplifier to power these and one that accepts the right input you need.

You could always spend around 200 for a basic AV receiver to hook them up with HDMI pass-through to your computer, or get a small basic T-amp for your iphone for less than $100.

The beauty of Klipsch, is that they are super efficient which means you don't need a lot of watts to play them loudly without distortion. A 40-80 Watt amp will be more than enough to blow your eardrums out ;)

Can you wire in another pair of speakers to these speajers? My TV only has the one audio output l/r but I want 4 speakers attached and wd also like to add a center speaker. I have them kook ed up that way right now, and they sound great but didn't want to blow them up.

Actually, you'll probably do the opposite of "blowing them up." The more paths for the signal (i.e. more speakers), the less signal goes to each one.

May be time to invest in a receiver that takes the sound from the source (cable box, DVD player, etc.).

A:

Running these speakers direct from your t.v. is probably not a good idea. You might want to pick up a receiver that allows more than just a l and r output. A receiver with tv audio ins and outs would allow you to use a sub woofer as well as a center channel speaker as well as additional satellite speakers. Best buy has some excellent choices with both quality at good prices. Also, give your speakers a gradual increase of volume as you use them, this will give the speakers a chance to get used to higher volumes. Speakers need a break in time, so to speak. Usually about 250 to 400 hrs.

Yes, these would be the front channel in your situation. Even just these and a receiver would be far superior to tv speakers. Ideally these plus a center channel, 2 surround speakers and a subwoofer would rock your house down for movies and music. GL you are stepping into a fun hobby, you can take it as far as you want, e.g. Some speakers cost over 20k a pair. These speakers in the 5.1 ( has these plus 4 other pieces ) package are like 599 or something and they will rumble your house down if you want.

You will need 4 floor speakers in each corner of room. Or Hanging in each corner of room. Next. You need the Pioneer Subwoofer. That is in front of you. you can add the Book shelf speakers and put both Direclty behind you. The Sound will be Awsome. Real sounding when playing a game or watching a movie or You will think you are at a concert live music. You will love it.

These are more than capable go with 3 of these towers up front ( if you dndt have youre tv wall mounted go for the center speaker) and 2 of the pioneer bookshelve speaker by andrew jones. For you receiber the onkyo tr-nx 646 is a great addition and for subwoofer go with the elac sq10 this is a killer budget home theater for the price.
