Sudden Death

a number of the 16gb models of the i9300 are affected by the 'sudden death' problem, eMMC chip types: VTU00M and FwRev: 0x1f. Apparently there is a faulty spot of NAND on this eMMC that will hard brick the phone if written to.
How can I know of this phone is at risk? does it have the old motherboard that was having this problem or the new updated ones?

Only Virgin Mobile phones will work on Virgin Mobile.
The Sprint phones only work on Sprint.
