The batteries can be attended to by removing the mouse buttons.
(The buttons are actually just a cover held in place by magnets and tabs).
Pry under the rear of the buttons/cover where it tapers underneath your knuckles. There, you will find the batteries housed in the main body of the mouse.

Just lift the "v" shaped plastic part on the upper side of the mouse. Take out the blue plastic piece that keeps the batteries in place, then you can remove / replace the batteries. It only takes a couple of seconds.

The top comes off-life the back end first and gently pry the loose from the left and right buttons by sliding your finger underneath each one. Next remove the battery brace by pressing down on the blue tabs that stick out and slide the brace forward. Remove the batteries and do it all in reverse. be sure to press the mouse keys to lock the cover on.

A:

1. Pop off the cover.

2. Press down on the two plastic tabs just above the batteries and this releases a small plastic holder which you then just slide completely out and set aside. (This is probaby the step you were understandably missing because the tabs are small-ish and their purpose isn't documented or readily apparent)

3. With thiis holder out of the way, the batteries have plenty of clearance and can be removed by hand.

4. Replace the batteries, put the plastic clip back into place, reattach the cover, done.

Not hard but the holding clip is not obvious or inuitive and should at the very least have been documented in the guide. It's a nice little mouse though, I'm happy with it, and hope this helps someone.

At the back of the mouse where the point is just above the HP logo, simply use your thumbnail to push the button plate up and off the mouse. The batteries are inside and can be easily removed from there. To reattach the button place, place the front end of the plate on first the drop the back on. The back latch is held in place with magnets and will just snap right on.

You don't need a Wi-Fi mouse, they don't exist. You either have a wireless mouse with a chip you plug into the USB port or a Bluetooth mouse which you pair with computer. Wireless mouse connects instantly when you put the matching chip into the USB port. The Bluetooth mouse has to be paired before it will work, which takes less than 30 seconds to pair it to the computer.

A bluetooth mouse connects the mouse to your bluetooth enabled computer or device. If your computer or device has bluetooth capabilities, just turn it on, turn the mouse on, pair them on your computer or device and you should get connected. You should confirm with HP website whether your computer's or device's operating system is compatible with the bluetooth mouse. I believe that the wifi mouse that you mentioned is probably a mouse that communicates with the computer via a USB dongle inserted into the computer. That is simply a wireless connection between the mouse and the computer and does not use your wifi connection. I have used this type of mouse for many years, but, have changed to the bluetooth mouse to allow freeing-up a USB port for other uses.

There is no such thing as a WiFi Mouse. But this is a Bluetooth Mouse, but for me it interferes with my laptops WiFi since its using the same frequency (MHz) you will always have problems with this mouse cursor skipping around and driving you CraZy ;)

You need to go into the store. It's clear there are big gaps in your understand of how the devices communicate with each other. Wifi has nothing to do with how you pair your peripheral devices except in rare circumstances like a wifi hard drive that are used with tablets.

The wifi is for your internet connection and is irrelevant for the mouse. I don't think they make wifi mice, or at least I've never seen one. You can get a wireless mouse with a usb dongle but that will use one of your usb ports. If the laptop has bluetooth capabilities then this will work. Without knowing your model I can't say yes or no for sure.

Yes you can use both at the same time. I have a wireless keyboard and my wireless mouse wore out, So I bought this Bluetooth wireless mouse. After installing the Bluetooth mouse which took less than 30 seconds to pair it to the computer, everything worked without issues. I don't see any problems with using both at the same time.

Yes. You should be able to use up to 7 bluetooth devices paired and connected to your computer. If you have problems with using multiple devices, make sure that you are using the latest drivers (from manufacturer's website) not the one included with your operating system. Also, make sure that your bluetooth devices are supported by your operating system (ideally before purchasing them).

If your equipment supports it, yes. You may have to contact the tablet manufacturer for confirmation on how many simultaneous bluetooth HID connections are allowed but if HID is one of the supported profiles you should be OK. The other option would be a keyboard with built-in touch pad.

I doubt it. This dratted mouse (X4000) is NOT Bluetooth compatible. It uses "Exclusive HP Link 5 technology" and says it is for Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7/8 only.

When you are in your settings to use your laptop/computer and add a bluetooth device, push and hold the blue button. This sends a signal to the computer of what you want to add. Your computer won't just add anything unless you authorize it.

I just purchased the HP Bluetooth mouse X4000b and don't know how to get bluetooth on my computer?

Q:

What do I need to do to get bluetooth on my computer? I would love to use this mouse and not take it back, but I don't know how to get bluetooth installed on my Windows 10 HP computer.

I believe if your computer does not already have Bluetooth built in that you have to purchase a separate Bluetooth dongle for it.

A:

In Windows 10 go to settings, devices, add a device; click on Bluetooth. Your computer will start searching for devices to pair; make sure mouse is on. If it doesn't find your mouse press the blue connect button on the bottom of your mouse. Once the computer pairs with the mouse simply click save device.

Most newer computers have Bluetooth built in. It would be in the settings. You could optionally buy a Bluetooth adapter, but that's kind of a waste of money when there are mice with usb dongles

my computer came with blue tooth. maybe there is a usb adapter or a card that will upgrade your computer to blue tooth. Try help chatline on best buy or ask a geek squad pro .

You require a Bluetooth USB type module to activate Bluetooth recognition on your device. They're not too expensive. Try pricing one out at Best Buy.

If your PC has Bluetooth capability, there is nothing you have to add to your PC, just follow the instructions to activate your PC's Bluetooth and connected the Bluetooth mouse to your PC. If your PC does not have Bluetooth capability, you need to purchase a Bluetooth adapter for your PC.

I have Windows 10 on my Surface Pro (which I love) and it was very easy to use my bluetooth mouse with it. Click on the windows icon in the tool bar (mine is on the bottom left of the screen). Select Settings. Select Devices. Select Bluetooth. Computer automatically scans to find Bluetooth equipment nearby. When I had to replace the batteries in my mouse, I had to redo this and have the computer find it again. Its been working fine ever since.

I am not sure how to install a Bluetooth in your computer but I assume if you have windows 10, then you should have Bluetooth installed. Mostly ever pc has one, you should check your manual before thinking of returning your pc.

If you dont have bluetooth built in just get a usb mouse. You didnt say weather it was a desk top or lap top. If it is a desk top you can put an internal card. If a lap top you would need a usb bluetooth. If you have to ask this question you are better off taking your computer in if you want blue tooth

A lot of computers come with bluetooth, but if yours doesn't you may be able to find a tiny usb bluetooth adapter.
