I can only think that maybe the video cables aren't hooked up to the proper inputs. Obviously HDMI cable is best but AVI or RF cables can be used but then you can hook them up to the wrong ports. I did it on mine and finally realized that the color codes of the plugs and the source/television ports were different. Ignore the colors and just carefully route from port to port, regardless of color and your picture might suddenly appear.
If you're not getting any picture, including the TV menu, then I would definitely return the TV for repair or replacement. If you can pull up the menu, then call us at 877-467-4289 so we can assist you with getting your picture.
I just bought the tv/dvd combo. Hooked only into cable line. The dvd player plays movie but the audio is horrbile. So much background noise I cannot hear the audio. Tried every setting in the dvd menu but I cannot clear out the background static. When I watch reg tv, the audio is just fine. Is there some other setting I a missing? So frustrating as I bought the combo to eliminate having a separate DVD player and a million cables I do not know how to hook up!
Seems as if you got a rotten apple...although I am not getting Focal Lab quality sound from this unit the sound works just fine! Good luck with your return!
I seriously doubt you are missing anything in terms of fine tuning the television to play the DVD'S. The sound quality of the television is not great any way, and I would imagine adding the DVD creates the background noise/interference.
In reading through the manual, the only reference I could find was on page 73. Under "Disc Playback" there's a cell that says "Some playback features do not work" and goes on to explain that some DVD formats restrict some features from working.
I don't like having cable TV wires strung around my house. Is there some devise I could use ...similar to the wireless internet router...but used for having wireless cable TV instead?

Since this TV is not a Smart TV you would not be able to link the Netflix account directly with the TV. You would need to have another Smart device, such as a Playstation 3, or a Smart blu ray player to use the Netflix account on the TV.
The power cord looks like an adapter and says 12 v on it. Does that mean this tv runs on twelve volts? And if so, is there a cord that plugs into TV's power slot and the other end fitting a camper 12 v outlet?
Yes, the TV runs on 12 V and it is possible to use an adapter to connect it to your RV's power. We can't recommend doing that though. We do not have an adapter that will allow you to do this, but they are available.
