We have tested with the Verizon S3 and it works fine. It is just a question of when the other carriers release the update when they will support it also. On the S3 goto settings->other and if AllShare Cast is listed you are in business.
When making the claim of 50ft we were stating a distance that we fealt the device would work properly. The actual distance is a factor of which band you use (2.4 or 5Ghz) and how many other Wi-Fi devices and interference is in the area. 2.4Ghz has longer range but is more subject to interference. In some cases you can achieve a greater distance. There is no way to increase it beyond that however.
Use a powered USB hub or if your HDMI ports are version 1.4 then you may not need an additional power source. I.E. just plug it in and see if it works.
Get a powered usb hub and plug it into that. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Belkin---4-port-USB-Hub/2389094.p?id=1218324435232&skuId=2389094 Or if your HDMI ports on your TV are HDMI 1.4 you may not need a separate power source.
Currently the Miracast Video Receiver only works with certain Android Phones and Tablets as well as computers with the latest WiDi client from Intel. The LG Optimus, Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy Note tablets, Samsung S3 and 4 as well as the Sony Inspirion line have all been tested and known to Work
I am trying to wirelessly connect a Dell PC to a Samsung HD TV. Both have HDMI ports. I need to be able to mirror what is shown on the PC's monitor; e.g. AutoCAD drawings. Will this device perform the functions I need?
If not, can you recomend a device that will? I need a wireless solution. Thank you for your help.
No, this Miracast is only compatible with Android OS. The only things I can think of that might qwork is Chromecast, wireless HDMI, or a powerline HDMI system.
