I have a GE washer. Although it has a multitude of water level and washing options, it does not have a "clean washer" or "normal" cycle. What setting(s) should I use, and does the water level matter for the cleaning process?
You must use the hottest setting on your washer and you want as much surface area to be covered so I would choose the largest load setting you can. Depending on how bad the smell, you may want to do their a few times but only use 1 tablet at a time.
Whether you have a High Efficiency machine or not select hot water for the temperature. If not an HE machine run the heavy cycle. If you have an HE machine run the largest load and longest cycle available to your machine.
Use the highest water level, the strongest agitation, extra rinse, and the hottest temperature, add chlorine bleach - optional since the tablet has bleach in it. That is the closest to a "Tub Clean" cycle.
I try to remember to use it once a month, or maybe after 15-20 loads of laundry. I also use it whenever I notice an odor coming from the washing machine, & then I use it twice, back to back (still one in each cycle).
As soon as you start to smell your clothes getting musty. And you can repeat it up to 3 times, if necessary, but I only had to do it once. It is important to remember to leave the washer door open to air out and let the unit dry in between loads, so as not to trap moisture in causing mildew.
Usually there is a setting that reads 'clean washer with Affresh'. If not I do not see any harm in doing so. You use detergent in your washer right? What about bleach?
Sure you can. This product can be used in any washing machine both front load and top load machines. Don't run it with a load of clothes and be sure to run a heavy duty cycle when using the product.
Yes, but since you will use more water you might have to double up on the Affresh. Good luck! May be less expensive to just use vinegar and baking soda.
The ingredients are listed as Sodium Percarbonate and Sodium Carbonate. The Sodium Percarbonate when mixed with water gives of Hydrogen Peroxide which cleans off all the hardened grime in the machine. The Sodium Carbonate is being used as a water softener in this product.
Yes. My tablet crumbled about 5 min ago and I threw it right into the washing machine anyway. It doesn’t change the effectiveness of it if that’s what you’re wondering :)
it should be yes. I did so anyways and my clothes were fine. If you really want to take precautions, maybe run a cycle with vinegar in the bleach compartment. Should flush any remaining residues out!
