Are you using the superior auto or intelligent auto mode? It sounds like you may be using a program mode with some set levels that is tasking the camera. Make sure you are using either the green or yellow camera icon for the mode when taking pictures. The camera will automatically define all the correct levels for white balance, aperture value etc. and make taking pictures a breeze; good luck!

What is involved in uploading photos and videos from the Sony HX300 to a MacBook Pro? I can't buy this camera unless the uploading process is smooth and easy.
You take out the SD card and plug it into the Mac. If it doesn't have a reader buy an external reader. Plugging a camera into a computer can damage the camera's operating system.
I have a CYBERSHOT DSC-HX200V. Are the batteries interchangeable? Does it have a tripod mount? Can it be charged without removing the battery? Thank you
Yes, the 300 has a tripod mount. And the only way set up to charge the batteries is plugging the camera in to power, or laptop with USB. Don't know if the batteries are the same. It is Np-Bx1 rechargeable lithium
Hi ward, no, the batteries are not interchangeable as the DSCHX200V uses the NPFH50 while the DSCHX300 use the NPBX battery. Yes, it has a tripod receptacle and yes, you can charge the battery in the camera. Thanks_Mitch
I'm having issues removing and replacing the lens cover. I have the older model of this camera and did not have this problem with it. I was wondering if it's a problem with my camera or if its normal. Has anyone else had this problem?
I have the same problem I found it's just a bit small for getting a grip on. So I just used the cover off one of my other cameras with the same size lens.55mm that i don't use much. you can also get the cover at a photo shop.
Hi Cindy, the lens cap of the camera is a clip on cover. Please send us a message at socialsupport@am.sony.com to further discuss this concern. Thanks_Mitch
I provide private lessons to volleyball players. When conducting a lesson, I currently use a Sony camcorder that I purchased over 4 years ago. It works great but has a few bumps and bruises so now I am not able to use the DC in connection for power (I use two rechargeable batteries). I am interested in updating my video capabilities and am interested in the option of using the Sony DSC HX300 camera. The main factor that will decide if I purchase and use this camera for videoing lessons is whether or not the video playback includes a slow motion feature. Does it?
Yes you can do slow motion playback on the built in screen. It is actually almost a stop motion effect when I play them back in slow motion, but that would likely be great as a teaching tool to help people see what they are doing right and what they need to change.
