Dear Customer:
As there are many different materials manufactured, the texture, size, weight, etc. of the material will cause the number of articles able to be washed to differ per household. We can inform you; however, that a more accurate determination of load size, is the amount of space taken up by a wash load. This is why most washer capacities are currently rated in terms of cubic feet, not the weight of the load or the number of items per load.
With a top-loading washer, you should wait to start the water fill until the washer is loaded, and loosely place dry items into the washer until they reach the top level of the holes in the wash basket. Likewise, when loading a front-load washer, items should be placed into the washer dry, and loosely piled within the wash basket.
Loading items while the washer fills causes fabrics to become compacted within the water, which can make it difficult to gauge the actual load size can lead to over-loading. Over-loading restricts the movement of clothing within the washer and can result in poor cleaning performance. Over time, over-loading can also lead to washer malfunction or component deterioration.
Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Whirlpool appliances!
