The difference between 901 and 901xl is the amount of ink in the cartridge. If you print a lot, I would get the XL. You will run thru the 901 fast. I print 250 pages a month and the 901xl last 3-4 months, the 901 cartridge will probably only last a month.
I use the 901 cartridge with HP 4680 Wireless printer, and it works fine. The only difference between HP901 and HP901 XL is the XL cartridge has more ink.
Difference between 901 and 901LX is the amount of pages you can print. The 901 will print approx. 500 sheets which is what I can run when printing assignments and research for college. The 901XL gives you approx. double.
According to the manufacture's website if prints approximately 200 pages, but the amount of pages it can print is going to depend on what you print and how much is on each page.
I believe you can, but I would not recommend it. HP calibrates each cartridge to work at optimum. Refilling the cartridge could cause damage to the print head
I have tried doing it, but when I put it in my printer, it kept refusing it because he said it wasn't a genuine HP cartridge. I don't know what was done to it but I never tried it again. Good Luck
No! That is definitely a bad choice even if you wanted to try yourself it would not work properly. I have also found that other manufacturers knockoffs are not compatible so save your money and go to Best Buys.
HP ink cartridges should not be refilled. Refilled ink cartridges can leak in the printer requiring service that will not be covered under warranty. In addition, the print quality will suffer with refilled ink cartridges because the nozzles become clogged with this additional use. HP does not manufacture or support refillable ink cartridges. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
