It comes with NTI back-up software, it has a nice display but it always failed to back-up on the schedule I put it on, and wants to force itself to also back-up on your cloud. Everytime you re-start your computer it will alert you that there is an update available, but when you check its a sales pitch to spend extra money to make it work correctly. I was very disappointed.by

Yes, but it really depends on how much you are backing up, and the size of the external hard drive that you are backing up to. Check the hard drives for both computers to find out how much back up storage you will need on your external hard drive and then use the appropriate size hard drive for the back ups.by

I'm not an expert, but look up your item (laptop) on google and it will tell if your laptop has 2.0 or 3.0 usb port. most of the newer ones should have 3.0. the red one I have does work with 2.0, but it's a bit slower.by

Most newer computers have at least one usb 3.0 and either one or more usb 2.0. You would have to look at the details of your computer to know if you have any 3.0. Works with usb 2 or 3. I have used this drive with the cable supplied on many usb 2.0 and 3.0 computers and bluray players with no problems.8 years, 11 months ago
