This is a good choice for back-up of a MacBook. Black Magic disk speed is about 170 MB/s which is adequate once you've achieved the initial backup. It has nice look and feel.

I love my iMac with the 5K retina screen! I love having the Thunderbolt 2 ports rather than the Thunderbolt 3 ports!. I have adding an external SSD drive which I boot from. The Procewssor is only 8% less fast than the newer iMac which is fine and dandy considering the price bump.

I was skeptical of the brand name. I was thinking they would turn the sound into weird hip-hoppityness. But they work great. I can connect both wioth the wired method (which is important to me) and via the Bluetooth. The Bluetook connection isn't flakey like some other devices I've bought. Thewy look great too. and they are comfortable. And they fold up nicely.

Perhapos I should ding this product a point on account of the need to buy special accessories to make use of things like a Midi cable. But I don't have the heart. I've got a docking device for my 12" Macbook which is USB-C Gen1 externally. The docking device (CalDigit) works fine and I don't anticipate running any 40Gbs devices. My older MacBook Pro is nice and it has the extra connectivity but this new 2017 beats it on thinness and weight. So I say thumbs up.

This is "righty-sized" for a "take-it-with-you" experience. I have to knock it down a star on account of the necessity to buy a dongle or a dock to be able to attach plain-vaniulla USB devices such as a MIDI keyboard or even an Ipad. But Caldigit sells an good dock for $150 which does charging plus 4 USB ports plus HDMI plus Gigabit Ethernet. Compare that to lesser devices selling for $40 to $65 which don't power your Macbook.
But the nice thing is this has a full 512GB internal (fast!) SSD drive so it competes with the larger size Ipads as an on-to-go music/phioto/video depot. And the battery-life is as long as an Ipad too. The screen resoltion is good but it's not IpadPro/MacbookPro resolution but is not weak either!.
Keep in mind that you get the MacOS apps that you know and love and a really good touchpad and a keyboard that stands up to "fat-fingers!" This is probably a good choice for students who need to do word-processing as well webby-things.

On one hand, the Apple Pencil is a cure for "fat fingers." But the pencil does not seem to be up to Apple standards. It drops bluetooth connectivity for whatever reason. And chargimng the poencil is unweildy. Furthermore, the pencil does not hold a charge for a lomg time. But it's useful (kind of) and it didn't cost a whole lot.

A bit unweieldy / good for watching videos in bed

This mega-size Ipad is a bit unweildy for the cafe scene but I like the size and resolution whilst laying in bed. Youtube videos on my 9.7" Ipad Air are a tad small but this quasi notbook does the trick. I have qualms about the accessory pencil though. It drops bluetooth connectivity, the chargeing is unweildy buit what the heck, it's technology!
