This is one great Rush concert dvd, "Rush In Rio" puts you in such a great mood you think you are actually there. Honestly, the camera angles are awesome, giving Geddy Lee, Neil Peart, and Alex Lifeson equal time with up close footage. The expressions on all three musicians tells the whole story, they were quite happy with the fans appreciaton for them and quite frankly Rush loves to play their incredible music live. Neil Peart's playing and drum kit is breath taking, plus footage of the fans in Rio knowing each song word for word says volumes for the popularity of Rush worldwide. Geddy Lee sings his heart out, never letting the band or the crowd down for one second. Alex Lifeson does not need to perform any theatrics, he just makes his guitar do the talking and man can he play! The pure energy of so many thousands of fans going crazy for Rush gives this concert that added power boost of Rock adrenaline! There are 29 classic Rush tunes here, the opener, "Tom Sawyer" gets the crowd in a frenzy and sets the tone for the entire show. "Roll The Bones" is a fun tune, with the video backdrop above the stage of the talking skeleton. The production is of the upmost highest quality! The documentary "The Boys in Brazil" is on disc two, it is a worthwhile addition to this remarkable concert achievement. From "Working Man" to "Ghost Rider" you will see and hear Rush perform all the key songs that have made them the greatest Progressive Rock band in the world. All I can say is add this to your Rush collection and enjoy. If you never owned any Rush, well, "Rush In Rio" will have you buying into the Rush back catalog very quickly.
What's great about it: Excellent production, many camera angles, 29 songs!

I am not going to lie, I am a die hard Motorhead fan, always will be, forever. With that said, "Hammered", like any other Motorhead release out there, is a great start for anyone who has never bought Motorhead. "Hammered" gives you the raw Motorhead Metal crunch that has never been mistaken as any other band out there. "Walk A Crooked Mile" and "Voices From the War" are two great tracks to marvel at, yet the rest of "Hammered" is just as powerful too. Lemmy's trademark vocals are just as lean, mean and raspy as they were twenty years or more ago. "Hammered" is for all Motorhead fans who know they are getting some heavy Rock & Roll here, for new listeners, just enjoy a legendary band that never pretends. Motorhead leads, while so many other bands have followed.
What's great about it: Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, playing great music still.

For Children of Bodom fans, we know this much, Alexi Laiho is an unreal guitarist. For those who are not familiar with COB, once you take a listen to "Trashed, Lost & Strung Out" you should agree, Alexi Laiho is a guitar legend in the making. I should also mention Alexi Laiho's vocals are not too shabby either. This is a great Thrash EP to get your hands on, for the enhanced CD contains the music video for "Trashed, Lost & Strung Out" plus video footage of COB's night out titled, "Trashed & Lost In Helsinki". The latter is hilariously entertaining, watching the band interact with each other during a night out on the town. The music video is done well, with Alexi at the forefront leading the way. "Bed Of Nails" is an Alice Cooper cover, let me say that COB give this song their edge and trademark sound, the great Alice Cooper should be proud! COB have proven that Thrash and a keyboard can coexist. The keyboard element actually gives the music extra muscle, in my own Metal opinion. With four incredible Thrash tunes to listen to, one music video plus the extra band footage, how can you go wrong? This is one for every COB fan and all Thrash Metal fans alike!
What's great about it: Lead guitarist & vocalist Alexi Laiho, video enhanced

It is amazing when you realize that "All The World's A Stage" is 32 years old! Listening to live Rush is always a lesson in how superior musicianship sounds outside a recording studio. All the best songs are performed here, up to 1976, of course. Rush has released a few more live albums since this gem, yet this is the live Rush that I feel put them on the Rock & Roll map to stardom. "Fly By Night" flows well together with "In The Mood" and you will not be disappointed by the 2112 medley of Progressive Rock, that is the fundamental reason why this performance should be labeled timeless. Buy "All The World's A Stage" and enjoy the unparalleled craft of music only Rush can deliver.
What's great about it: Listening to live Rush, great production and sound.

AC/DC has released many legendary albums over the last 30 years, "Fly On The Wall" is one of them. Brian Johnson owns these songs. Angus Young jams out like his life depends on it here! "Danger", "Sink the Pink" and "Back In Business" are the epitome of how bluesy Metal should be played. AC/DC always and forever will sound current, this release will have you thinking it was probably made today. Never trendy or catching on to the newest Metal sound, AC/DC gives Metal that easy going, dirt kicking, blues grooving feeling on "Fly On The Wall." Listen to "Shake Your Foundations" loud and it probably will. This belongs in every Rock music collection, regardless of genre.
What's great about it: Every song is awesome! One of AC/DC's best ever! Angus Young, nuff' said.

For Metal fans who love the '80's, "Contagious" is a must. For Metal fans in general, this is Y&T being as melodic and tight musically, as they ever were. There are enough hooks, riffs and vocal harmonies here to make this release extremely catchy for Hard Rock and Hair Metal fans. "Temptation" is a ballad of sorts, "Contagious" is the hit that made it on MTV back in 1986/87. For a straight on commercial Metal release, "Contagious" can become quite the contagious listen, no pun intended.
What's great about it: Y&T always rocks, cool riffs and very melodic

Slipknot is back. Metal is now spelled Slipknot. The single most important thing any Metal fan can do for them self during their life is to purchase "All Hope Is Gone". Corey Taylor is a jaw dropping vocalist, able to change his vocals consistently from mellow to monster throughout. In my opinion, Corey Taylor is the greatest living vocalist in all of the Rock genres, put together. What Slipknot has done here is given the Metal community one of the greatest Metal albums ever made. I am so ecstatic over the entire 12 songs, this is now my favorite Metal album of all time. Musically, you are getting Thrash, a dab of Death Metal and some of the most incredible arrangements and layers of Metal genius that will leave you in total awe. "Snuff" is the easy going tune to chill out to here, it is fitting to have it be track number 11, by this time it makes for a nice break in the Thrash attack. "Psychosocial" is the most prolific and by far the most powerful Metal song I have heard in years. If you are into any type of heavy music, please do not hesitate to buy this powerful piece of work. I personally thank all of the Slipknot nine, I have this Metal treasure now to enjoy forever.
What's great about it: Corey Taylor vocals, the lyrics, thrash and speed with real musicians

This is a really cool disc to grab, for you are getting Thrash, Death, Black and Power Metal all together! The Power Metal from Cellador, Death Metal fury with a touch of Black Metal from The Black Dahlia Murder and the Thrash and Death onslaught from Demiricous gives this disc bite. There are too many great bands here to mention, many are up and coming. "Metal Massacre 13" is a fabulous means to dive into these songs and begin to follow these bands. This is a great disc to slap into your cars cd player for a long ride! Enjoy "Metal Massacre 13" and all the young and diverse Metal bands it offers.
What's great about it: Thrash, Death, Black and Power Metal are all covered here, 19 songs!

Tried and true are Death Angel, being one of the original Bay Area Thrash bands to make Thrash Metal the juggernaut that it is today. "Killing Season" is like a fine tuned Thrash machine that is steam rolling out of control, and that is a compliment! Bravo to these guys for continuing to move forward and make such a legitimate Thrash Metal release. Mark Osegueda is superb at vocals! You have to appreciate that Scott Ian from Anthrax and Brian Posehn lend a hand on gang vocals with Death Angel. The searing guitars, heavy hitting bass and jaw dropping drumming will have you raising your fist in pure uncontrollable excitement. I hope Death Angel knows "Killing Season" is not just a brilliant Thrash Metal statement, it is a Metal masterpiece as well.
What's great about it: Legitimate Thrash, awesome vocals and musicians

Alice Cooper released Constrictor in 1986, I still love to listen to it today. In my opinion, Alice Cooper entertains like no other, Constrictor gives you melodic 80's Metal the Cooper way. "He's Back (Man Behind the Mask) is a cool tune that was part of the "Friday The 13th Part Vl: Jason Lives" soundtrack. Alice Cooper presents a little spookiness and great fun with Constrictor. Constrictor is a great listen for all Metal fans.
What's great about it: Alice Cooper, cool 80's Metal vibe happening
