Two Is Better Than One

Army Of Two The 40th Day takes place in Shanghai. After finishing up a job in Shanghai all hell breaks loose for Salem and Rios,Always cracking wise, but do show remorse at times, but find others ways to offend. Each chapter has moments called "moral choices" but these come somewhere out of leftfield. The game is about 5-6 hours long with a 7 chapter campaign, fighting through office buildings,a zoo, hospital under siege, but there's really not much variety when it comes to the combat, you'll fight the same random enemies throughout.Back is the aggro meter where the teammate with the least attention can flank the enemy, issue a fake surrender,or play dead. The boss battles are not really all that unique, the second half of the game becomes a little repetitive.Weapon customization is deep, giving options for stocks, scopes, and barrels. But it isn't permanetly saved when you return to battle. If you spend 10 minutes customizing your gun and die before the next checkpoint, you'll have to do it all over again. You have the option to choose from a variety of mask or create your own online.Multiplayer is set for 10 player, you have your standard Co-op deathmatch, and Control mode with two teams trying to capture points on the map and much more.So grab a buddy and hit the streets.
What's great about it: Weapons Customization,Create Mask,Multiplayer
What's not so great: Boss Battles,Repetitive,Story,AI,Short

Sitting On The Dock Of The Bayonetta

Bayonetta is a Which and I don't mean that in a derogatory way.She is engaged in a bloody war with Heaven's Angels. The game goes way beyond story details, the heart of the game is the smooth gameplay elements.Combat combos in this game are one of the best, you can activate"Which Time" by pulling up certain dodges,by doing so time slows down for enemies and you can string together brutal attacks. The game also features"Torture Combos" which let's you put your enemies heads into a Guillotine as a sort of finishing move. This game has a lot of replay value offering you more ways to unlock combo attacks and maximize your score. In a way the game reminds me of Devil May Cry because if it's fast pace shooting, and action, and because of it's creator Hideki Kamiya.Different set pieces made me forget about games like God Of War,and Ninja Gaiden because these bosses are massive than the last. The voice acting in the game is really not all that smart plus the cut scenes you'll laugh at,than laugh with. The game also have unforgiving moments where you have little to no clue about what to do,which can lead to a frustrating death. But the action makes up for the games failings.Pick this game up.
What's great about it: Combat Controls,Brutal,Replay Value,Boss Battles
What's not so great: Story,Voice Acting,Cut Scenes

In this game you play as Richard "Demo" Marcinko who is a real life Navy Seal who served during Vietnam war and well into the 80's.He is voiced by Mickey Rourke. The game is based on the autobiography of the same name. The game is just an overall bad experience. The game is only 2hrs long making the game way too short,it's unresponsive controls make this game a nightmare to play, repetitiveness of the game doesn't hold your attention long,A.I. enemies are really dumb compared to other games in this genre.Graphics look like it should have tried to put this game on the original xbox.Multiplayer only has 2 modes death match and team death match.Sound?Mickey does a lot of cursing in this game.I can think of a lot of better games to spend $60 on that this game.
What's great about it: Stealth Kills
What's not so great: Short,Repetitive,Controls Unresponsive,Dumb A.I.,Multiplayer,Price

I'm writing this review to give you the full Modern Warfare 2 experience. This game is absolutely amazing.5 years after Modern Warfare, Makarov the man loyal to Zakhaev the guy you shot down in COD 4 wants revenge on everybody. An entire nation is duped into military action, and America is invaded by a foreign power. The campaign hops back and forth between the US and overseas. The enemies in cover are well better hidden than in Modern Warfare.Your allies are ready and willing to move up,help check the corners and even prompt you to move forward. The visuals are simply amazing with every scene looking like a major blockbuster movie.Over the course of the story you will infiltrate arctic bases, race to safety on snowmobiles, sprint over slum rooftops in Rio,hold fast food restaurants against invading armies and liberate the White House from enemy hands. The level designs are fantastic from start to finish. Some people might get very offended, but their is a play through were You shoot innocent civilians in a crowded airport. You don't have to play this part of the game if you don't want to.Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer is better than ever before. The big edition is Spec Ops mode. It's a collection of 23 missions designed for two players to battle their way thru.It also shows events that happened elsewhere within the game,as well as in Call Of Duty 4.Competitive multiplayer is what you're familiar with with as in COD 4.Leveling,perks,kill streaks rewards it's all here, and It's been tweaked and rebalanced for a better experience. You're constantly unlocking rewards earning XP for just about everything you do.Completing challenges for new gun attachments, leveling up perks, even opening up custom titles to display along side your name and matches.Kill streaks are now awarded for new vehicles, auto turrets, care packages for random bonuses, even to rain AC-130 from above. For those that play badly you're still rewarded you get a bonus for snapping a scoreless streaks of death.3rd person mode not all that great, you might play it once or twice, but that's it.Modern Warfare 2 is sure to be a game of the year, and it's a first person shooter that every first person shooter junkie should own.Infinity Ward you done it again.
What's great about it: Campaign Mode,Weapons,Voice Acting,Multiplayer,Sound FX,Music
What's not so great: 3rd person multiplayer

Halo 3: ODST

Halo 3 ODST picks up right after the city of New Mombasa gets tagged. This time you are alone Orbital Drop Shock Trooper aka the rookie. When you wake up from your hard landing you need to find out what happened to the rest of your squad. As an ODST you get to play with suppressed SMG's and a pistol. The pistol goes back to the original HALO game. Also new is the damage system, where if you take too much damage you have to find a health pack to recharge yourself.Disc One features the co-op campaign. You roam around to find clues and play thru flashbacks of your squad mates. The campaign in this game is a little better than HALO 3's campaign mode. But this campaign mode is a little shorter.ODST campaign mode can vary from 4-5hrs.You can play on easy and run through the game very quickly, but for a challenge you must crank up the difficulty. Also on disc one is the new Firefight Mode.Think of it as Gears Of War 2's Horde Mode.Try to team up with your friends for this mode because every wave gets stronger.Disc Two is a gathering of HALO 3's multiplayer map packs that include 3 new maps.Heretic,Citadel, and Longshore. These new maps will allow you to polish off your HALO 3 achievements and eventually score some hallow recon armor at Bungie.net.Is it worth $60? If you are a true HALO fan I say yes.But with the all new expansion it may not win alot of you gamers over. You also get a HALO reach beta key which will let you in on the ground floor for the next HALO game in 2010.
What's great about it: Firefight,Story,Music,New 3 Maps
What's not so great: Price,Same Map Packs

Shoot To Kill

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising is a first person solid combat simulator with the distinction of being a little mediocre. The game features well done bits of combat mechanics and co-op gameplay, but it has a frustrating checkpoint system, short mission list, and questioned A.I.The story takes place in the fictional setting in Russia.Chinese forces have taken over so it's up to US soldiers to go in and stabilize the situation before the Russians get involved. The combat in the game is very realistic,It has persist facts about gravity, wind, and body motion when you fire a weapon. Also the game has four player co-op,the game lets you pair up with friends for your missions. The A.I. in this game really lacks the realness of combat. They will fail to find cover,or even follow you.The games checkpoint system is uneven.Sometimes it fails to resister, other times it auto saves when you're under enemy fire. The game only features 11 missions,by which some army brats can fly through quickly. In competitive multiplayer you will be assigned 3 A.I. bots.Their are 8 squads total with each squad commaned by one real player. But with poor A.I. your bots will get killed faster than you will.If you're a fan of real simulated shooters by all means get this one.But it's hard to recommend fully.
What's great about it: Combat,Co-op Play
What's not so great: Checkpoint System,A.I.,Short Missions

Tables,Ladders,Chairs, and spandex it's time to lay the smackdown on ya again. The presentation in this years game is much better than last year. The game delivers a more realistic tv broadcast style with more additional camera angels and no hud. You'll also notice damage your opponents take after you punch and kick them when you hit the same area repeatedly. The royal rumble match has been redesigned their are a lot of different ways to toss characters over the top rope using a button pressing mini game.Road to wrestlemania is back with six brand new story modes. The gameplay is better than ever especially the high flying maneuvers. The strong grapple system has been modified letting you transition between holds, and strike and grapple attacks can be countered by a single press of a button. But some of the same problems keep happening. The game collision detection issues and rope physics just plain look funny, and A.I. tag team partners seem slow.Create your own superstar hits the spot. You can customize your outfits even design your own logos, create your finisher and even share your character design online with community creations. The game even has story designer mode allowing you to write and produce your very own storylines. So if your a fan of the WWE pick this game up.

Saw the game has you playing as detective Tapp from the first movie.Jigsaw has saved him from death and has placed a key in his chest. Now locked in an insane asylum their are victims some you save, some you must kill because they want the key.The presentation is very well done with the game looking like the movies with all the brutal violence and blood intact. The voice acting is very well done with Tobin Bell as the Jigsaw killer sounding just like he does in the films. The controls are ok but the combat system is broken, you have to time your melee attacks and punches. The game has very repetitive puzzles and hands out achievements really easily. The game is very short. If your a fan of the Saw movies and want to play this game,I say rent it.
What's great about it: Brutal,Just Like The Movies,Voice Acting
What's not so great: Combat System,Repetitive,No Replay Value,Price

Xbox vs PS3

My 7 yr old son is wanting a new game system for Xmas and I can't decide between the 360Pro and the PS3. We currently have original Xbox and he likes mostly sports games and the Lego games. The PS3 looks better in my opinion (plus it has Blu Ray ability) but I wonder if the games for it are more adult-oriented. I have also heard the stories of 360's going bad or is this not so much the case with the newer ones? Anyway when I ask him which he'd prefer he always says the Xbox360 first.
If he likes to play games online I say 360.Xbox live has the biggest online gaming community of the two systems. If he likes to watch movies I say PS3.But I've heard some people have taken back their PS3's because it didn't work for some reason.360 has made corrections on the RROD(Red Ring Of Death)and if theirs a problem with your 360 they'll fix it for free. But the first choice is always a good one.
