Doom Eternal improves off of Doom (2016) in many ways: movement feels faster and more fluid, enemy types feel more varied, certain combat arenas have more verticality to compliment new traversal options, health and ammo recovery systems are well balanced to encourage more aggressive play styles, etc.
But for all the positives and improvements in this game, there is an equal amount of drawbacks: too many upgrade systems, often unclear paths through levels, certain frustrating enemy types that almost disrupt the flow of combat, and long, drawn out mission designs.

One of my favorite films from the MCU line up. Purchased while discounted to round out collection of Marvel movies. This steel book is much better than the standard cases that were redesigned with the characters against a grey background and a streak of color behind the title. 4K disc has very clear picture, but colors don’t look any more enhanced than the regular blu ray disc. Overall a good value at $15 or less.

This game is yet another indie-developed, 2D Metroidvania, action platformer that borrows a lot of positive elements from other well established titles, but still manages to establish its own identity and offers a worthwhile experience. It borrows the level design, exploration and ability progression philosophies of the Metroid series, and combines them with the combat and risk v. reward systems of Dark Souls. The game is presented in a unique, hand drawn art style that perfectly captures the dark and mysterious nature of the world and all the characters that inhabit it. The narrative is equally mysterious and intriguing, providing a compelling and natural incentive to drive the player towards exploring the world and unlock the many secrets it has to offer. The physical edition comes with a fully printed manual, which feels like a nice throwback to classic releases from the SNES era of gaming. If collecting physical games is important to you then this is worth picking up, but if you don't mind digital and would prefer to save, then the digital version can be purchased for less than half the cost.

Great 4K Disc, Good Film

The film itself is very good, though it tries hard at times to avoid acknowledging is comic book roots, it still implements enough elements in a satisfying way while trying to tell a story that is mostly its own. Even if you find the story and presentation too be too derivative of the Scorsese films that inspired it, you can at the very least appreciate Joaquin's stellar performance.
As for the picture and sound quality, I would consider this to be one of the best 4k discs in my collection. The film was beautifully shot and you are able to take in every detail with little to no grain or digital artificacts. Sound is also exceptionally well mixed, the music is powerful but does not drown out the dialogue, and a nice range of ambient sounds that enhance the immersion when heard in surround sound.
All in all, I would highly recommend this film and its 4K disc.

A Step Down In Quality, Forced Online Features

After greatly enjoying MK9 and MKX, this entry feels like a step down in quality regarding most aspects. Roster is varied enough and gameplay is fine, but combat overall feels slower and less fluid than previous titles. Gear system makes for cool rewards and customization options, but makes equipping special dlc skins more convoluted than necessary.
Most frustrating of all is the way that basic aspects of the game require an online connection to work. So if the server is temporarily down or your connection is not working, you cannot unlock rewards, earn xp towards your profile, save custom character moves and costumes, or access the krypt.
If I knew all this before and Spawn wasn't a DLC character, I would have skipped this game altogether.

Oddly Compelling

The gameplay is oddly compelling in that it is mainly focused on how you navigate the world to deliver packages throughout the world. Rather than simply going from point A to point B, you also need to manage a variety of systems: health and stamina, materials for crafting and using supplies and tools, player's balance, item and equipment degradation, etc. Traveling in New areas can be daunting and stressful at times, but it's usually a cathartic feeling to finally reach your destination. Furthermore after exploring a new area and connecting it with the network, you unlock a type of shared world social feature where you can find and make use of supplies and tools that were left by other players in their game. For myself, it's the first online feature since Journey that makes an otherwise single player game feel like a collaborative experience that you share with others.
There are also elements of combat and stealth throughout. While they may seem simplistic in their respective ways at first, each have systems that are never directly taught to the player, but when discovered through experimentation add a new layer of depth and strategy (i.e. the ability to throw packages at human enemies during combat). That said, the game itself is not difficult, especially for those who play games regularly.
Side note - at the time of writing this, I have played the game for about 10 hours. Though I have yet to see how the story plays out, I can say that so far it is intriguing and the early hours do a fair job of setting the tone and themes of the narrative, and make the otherwise complicated lore of the world relatively easy to follow and digest. Graphics are stellar in presentation, and the the sound design matches closely in its quality.
This may not be a game for you if you're wanting or expecting an action packed adventure. But if you don't mind something more experimental, then I would say go in with an open mind and you will find enough to appreciate in this game.

3 out of 5Too Dark On Non-OLED Switch

The game itself is a compelling return to form for the Metroid 2D series; the atmosphere is eerie and mysterious, the combat is quick and tense (when you learn to parry properly) and the story is presented well through cutscenes and environmental story telling techniques, blending modern and old school styles into one cohesive package.
My only gripe with this game is that the picture is too dark/dim on non-OLED model Switches in handheld mode. I still own an original 2017 model Switch, so when I went from docked to handheld mode the picture was noticeably darker and dimmer than it seemed it should be. Even turning up the brightness to maximum barely helped the picture appear bright enough on the system's screen. Since this issue is not present in other games like Smash Bros. or Luigi's Mansion, it leads me to believe that this game was designed more so with the OLED model Switch in mind, leaving the game to appear dimmer on older models. So if you are like me with an older Switch, know that you may have similar trouble being able to see the game in hand-held mode.

Looking into getting this review removed

While I'm looking into getting this review removed, I wanted to leave this comment in the meantime for why I'm doing so and to offer some additional info around correcting the brightness issue I had with the game originally.
First and foremost, it turned out my system's auto-brightness setting was the cause of making the game look dark and dull in handheld mode. Once I turned it off and adjusted the brightness myself on the system level, the issue was immediately corrected.
Secondly, I originally intended the rating to be 4 stars, as I still felt the game itself is fun and exceptionally well made. Somehow it saved and uploaded with 3 stars instead, which was not my intention.
As I mentioned before, I will be reaching out to customer service to have this review pulled down for its inaccuracies. But until that request goes through, hopefully this comment helps to correct the errors of my original review.

This switcher will work with devices that display in 4K resolution or lower.

If I connect this to a new 4K Samsung smart TV and then plug a Nintendo switch and amazon fire stick into the switch, will it work?
I have used a Nintendo Switch with this device and it works. I do not own an Amazon Firestick, but I have seen posts of other people saying that it does not work.

Do I need to buy extra plugs for the output? I have a cable plug and a Rocu with a plug but does the output plug come with the device?
You will need another 4K capable HDMI cable for the output. This product only comes with the switcher and power cable.

what does it mean 4K and HDH Pass-through. are all of the ports actually 4K? I have a 4k blueray player and 4K satellite dish, but only 1 4K input on my TV.
All three inputs support real 4K. So as long as you plug the device into the 4K input of your TV, then everything will display in 4K. HDR pass through means that if your devices have HDR features and your TV can display HDR, then this device will allow HDR to work. This is advertised because past hdmi switchers have supported 4K, but not HDR.
