Considering the age of the film, I think this movie looks and sounds as good on blu-ray as it possibly can given the source. The movie itself is, of course, a Woody Allen classic in all of the expected ways. It's smart, funny, intellectual and like many (not all) of his other films, I love it. Just because it's on blu-ray however, don't expect miracles. It's still an old film with a mono audio track source.

Good movie for the R rated crowd (4K)

Deadpool is vulgar, coarse, and littered with bad language. It's also wonderfully funny. I usually find vulgar films filled with bad language distinctly un-funny. Somehow this film walks the very fine line between going too far and going just far enough.
Ryan Reynolds' performance as Deadpool is superb. He is a man tortured by the conviction that he cannot force his ugliness upon the love of his life (played beautifully by Morena Boccarin). He breaks the fourth wall often and gleefully. So do the filmmakers - even the opening credits are funny!
This movie would have been a massive disappointment had they tried to make it (like most super-hero movies) in PG or PG-13 - it demands an R, and they delivered exactly that.
There are stretches of this film which work so much better in 4k than in Bluray or DVD - the sequence counting down 12 bullets, for example - the numbers on the shell casings are crystal clear. This is demo-disc quality, showing off why you've invested in 4k TV and player.

Director Steven Spielberg reinvented the action genre in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark: a fun adventure the whole family can enjoy. Endless jokes and crafty set pieces lead you on a journey around the world. Raiders of the Lost Ark was written with a sarcastic and clever tone by Lawrence Kasdan. Spielberg makes good use of miniatures, practical effects, special effects, close ups, wide shots, and tracking panning shots throughout Raiders. You will be hard pressed to find a more fast-paced adventure film than Raiders of the Lost Ark.
John Williams composed perhaps the most uplifting score of his career: you are swept off your feet when you hear the Indiana Jones theme kick in. The music accompanies the tense moments and thrilling action sequences alike with an apt sonic swirl. I love the Indiana Jones soundtrack to this day.
Harrison Ford is so likable and relatable as the bumbling yet intelligent Indiana Jones. You believe he can fight with some prowess, while also believing in his archaeological talents.
Likewise, Karen Allen is deft and cool as Marion Ravenwood, Indiana Jones' love interest and romantic foil. Allen is excellent as adventurer, rough house fighter, as well as the romantic leading lady. She is funny and sweet, while always giving Raiders of the Lost Ark some much appreciated verbal thrashing. I think Karen Allen was well suited as Indiana's opposite.
In conclusion, Raiders of the Lost Ark holds up today with a swift adventure feel. You always believe in Indiana Jones from his lectures, to his home, to his action sequences. It is as much fun as when I first saw it in the theater.

4K Review: Visually stunning and gorgeous

Blade Runner 2049 has to be the absolute best looking disc I've seen by far in the 4K format. With very minimal grain/noise, a very high level of sharpness throughout and some incredibly colors with HDR, this disc is highly recommended!
Overall, a gorgeous film that keeps you intrigued the entirety of its long run. The cinematography is second to none and is supported by a unique soundscape and amazing world building. The acting is superb and the script keeps you guessing.
You will likely enjoy the movie more if you know a few things going in. First, Harrison Ford doesn't show up until later in the movie and isn't nearly as prominent in the film as most of the characters. Think of him in more of a supporting role. Second, this isn't a short movie, so settle in for the long haul. Third, the film is a slow burn. If you like fast-paced movies you might not have the patience for this.

A visual masterpiece, and quite a good movie too. The colors are outstanding, some of the best I've seen so far. The sunset looked stunning. The night scene with the floating, glowing fish was breathtaking. And the tiger looked real. Many of the scenes had a 3D feel to them, as the contrast was so wide. The white boat on the dark water had real depth, like you were almost there. (This review is for the Bluray version upscaled by an LG UBK90 4K-UHD player to a Vizio 4K-UHD 65" P-Series TV)

As with most Fast & Furious movies, you probably either love them or hate them. And I don't blame you for either. I liked F8 as it has some great action sequences and some interesting twists and turns (no spoilers).
As a 4K copy goes, this is another outstanding release in this franchise. This is an amazingly wonderful copy of the movie. HDR makes the colors pop with vibrancy, especially during action sequences. And the 4K video/sound quality is excellent. The level of detail you can see just really helps with the emersion and enjoyment for me.
The producers rolled out an astonishing array of famous actors for this, the 8th in the Fast & Furious line. Not only does Kurt Russell return as 'Mr. Nobody' but now sort of famous Scott Eastwood plays his henchman, 'Little Noboby'. Wayne Johnson also returns as does Michelle Rodriguez. Actor/rapper Ludacris continues to expand his acting credits. Two Oscar winning actresses have supporting roles, Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren. The producers could easily have put lesser talents in thier roles, but chose instead to delight us with these two powerful women. Tough guy Jason Statham also returns. Tyrese Gibson rounds out the list of the famous.
A truly worthy addition to the Fast & Furious franchise.

Awesome 4K Version of a Great Sci-Fi Movie

If you are interested in the 4k version of this film, you more than likely you know the story, so my review is based on new video and audio formats.
I have purchased the DVD then Blu-ray and finally the 4k version.
This release is by far the best this film has ever looked. I thought the Blu-ray had a good picture and the audio was decent. The 4k is so much better than I thought possible.

The Video
The 4k remaster is fantastic. The HDR is very evident in the way colors pop. With the 4k you get the usual upgrades of clarity and sharpness. Clothing has texture and color that are major improvements over the standard Blu-ray. In the opening sequence there is a vast improvement that gives the film a new depth of field -- almost a 3D quality. In the darker scenes there is improvement in fine detail. You can pick up objects in shadows that were lost in past versions. Because the movie has lots of scenes in both sunlight and the darkness of space, it's a great film to show off your equipment.

The new DTS-X soundtrack makes great use of the overhead and surround speakers. Dialog is very clear even in scenes with lots of action. While all speakers get a great workout, it doesn't feel forced and of the sound effects feel like they belong.

A great Bourne film with a contemporary twist

Bourne films are quite formulaic, I found Jason Bourne (2016) to be no different. Nevertheless, the film was a fun and intense ride to watch. Now nine years later from the last in the “true” Bourne storyline, technology has vastly improved, making this film seem more like a crossover of James Bond and Person of Interest. This, I feel, was Jason Bourne’s strength.
Including the subplot focusing on technological privacy (pulled straight from current events) helped anchor this film to the popular culture in which we now live, instead of just being a series of chases in foreign lands. I also appreciated the semblance of a plot in this film, as it felt like Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) had not gotten many answers in the prior three films. At least this time around we learn something about him and his motivations, since the amnesiac super-soldier archetype can only go so far.

What is the actual refresh rate? 120 or 60hz
The Vizio P65-E1 P-Series 65" Full Array LED Smart TV has a true native 120 Hz LED panel. This is currently the fastest native refresh rate for any LED display, regardless of manufacturer or stated refresh rates. The higher advertised refresh rates for most TVs are achieved using backlight flashing to mimic a higher refresh rate. This actually works quite well on most LED televisions and I alway recommend setting the Clear Action (or MotionFlow or whatever a TV maker calls it) to ON (or its highest setting). This really helps generate an image with more motion detail and smoothness when the screen displays an object in motion and a scene with camera panning.

Our 55” LG often drops signal when streaming Prime & Netflix. Looking to upgrade to the Vizio P-series 65”. How is the streaming quality/signal?
The Vizio P65-E1 P-Series 65" Full Array LED Smart TV that I purchased in Nov. 2018 never drops the signal and has had no problems streaming Netflix and Youtube (I do not have an Amazon Prime account). Be aware though that I have a high-end, high-speed multi-channel MIMO TP-Link router with beam forming and six antennas, and high-speed 150 Mbps fiber optic internet service. I can only say that with the right wireless router and high-speed internet, this TV works great!
