Solid but flawed
on February 22, 2020

Due to the fact that it will no doubt impact ones opinion when viewing this I have previously read the manga which this anime is based which did improve it quite a bit but also bring up a specific problem. Now the one issue I truly have with this series is the same I have with untold number of anime and that is the open ended nature nothing is really explained about the Count not who he is, not his past, not his family literally nothing. But the overall stories are enjoyable all the same. But that can easily be a negative for many so you've been warned.
As for the video it's standard def it doesn't look any better than ti would have on DVD though the sound is better. I personally like the idea of SD on Blu in general due to it cutting down ont he number of discs needed but that's just me.

Disappointing

I thought I would like this movie because I like horror movies even ones that aren't great in many cases but it just failed to amount to anything. It sounded like it would be decent and everything was set up relatively well but it went the stereotypical twist route and amounted to nothing. Are there worse horror movies? Of course there are hundreds if not thousands that are worse but that doesn't make this any better I'd give it a 0 if I could.

Overall pretty good
on September 27, 2019
Posted by: Tsukiyomi
I must start by saying I don't know what characters were cut from the source material since it's been a long time since I finished reading it. But it was an overall solid and enjoyable adaption with some of the "games", "tests" whatever you want to call them from the manga and a few that were made soley for the movie. The only negative is the exclusive ones were extremely predictable pretty much from the start. The other negative is that it's obviously an incomplete work due to it being based only on the first part of a title that had two seperate series and multiple arcs in each.
Bottom line? If yu enjoyed the manga, if you like stuff like this, if you can get it cheap, if you can rent it, etc than it's worth it.

Just awful

I wanted to like this movie I really did and I thought for sure I would. I actually like Stallone a lot loved Rocky and Oscar the two cases where I know he had to act but this was just a complete dud. The premise is fine but they failed both actors when every joke became "haha your old". The reference to Rocky was the only good joke in the entire film sadly. Both Deniro and Stallone deserve better but not every one can be a winner and in this case both lost.

Brave the battle with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite for Playstation 4. Vanquish a variety of characters in the game~s single-player arcade mode or lose yourself in the game~s engaging story mode to learn more about its immersive universe. Pick from a host of legendary characters, including Iron Man and Ryu whenever you play Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite for Playstation 4.

Another huge disappointment
on May 22, 2019

I had high hopes for this game but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment just like Street Fighter 5. The character roster is so so, the game play is pretty average and there's really nothing to make it stand out anymore.

This collection of nine films from revered comic director Mel Brooks includes The Twelve Chairs, Blazing Saddles, Silent Movie, his Hitchcock pastiche High Anxiety, History of the World Part I, his remake of To Be or Not to Be, the Star Wars spoof Spaceballs, and Robin Hood: Men In Tights.

Just a lot of good comedies

Though I'm not really a fan of Blazing Saddles and I hated Silent Movie there is so much good stuff here that I have to recommend it. If you like Mel Brooks movies it's well worth the price.

Decent

It's a so so series it's fun but not world breaking and the world reminded me of Getbackers quite often (but Getbackers was a better series). The whole premise is that an underground world with super powered beings exists under Tokyo itself and some have nefarious plans for the "Maiden" as they call her. If you've seen Getbackers you know the idea because it feels like a rip off of the Infinity Fortress.
The characters are pretty typical and none really stood out but for a shonen series I find that to be pretty standard overall since they seem to follow some trope or another. Heck the shows themselves always follow the same typical trope ie weak character gets power, loses, gets more power, repeats cycle, and somehow makes friends with enemies.
But I must admit I really do like this SD on Blu idea since it lowers the disc count significantly in some cases (Fist of the North Star for example went from 20+ discs to 3). So I'm happy to see them continuing with this release style for TV series.
Advice? Don't expect anything particularly great or original but I found the series enjoyable enough.

The reason I came to love Kurosawa and Mifune film
on May 2, 2019
Posted by: Tsukiyomi
I love Kurosawas samurai films specially the ones with Toshiro Mifune (big fan of his work with and without Kurosawa) these two men are what really caused me to seek out so many subtitle only films in spite of my own admitted laziness.
This film though is special I ended up seeing it originally because I liked the anime Samurai 7 and heard so many good things about it and it became my first exposure to both Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune but far from the last. I do not buy too many Japanese films or foreign films period but this ones special it was one I knew I had to get on Blu and it looks good. I don't even know what to say about it other than if you don't mind subtitles check it out I know I wish I could get more people I know to watch it

I like Hosodas works for the most part but much like Wolf Children I just didn't like this movie and kept waiting for it to end in the hopes something would change my opinion. The issues are that it's too focused around the kid who continously acts like an annoying brat from beginning to end and basically ignores the concept of future Mirai only using her sparingly. I only watched the film maybe a week ago and my memory is already vague so that's not a good sign.
My suggestion? You may like it if you like kids but if you don't than skip it an just watch Summer Wars, Boy and His Beast, or Girl Who Leapt Through Time all of them are better films than this. If you want to see it rent it first.
All that being said if Hosoda has more movies I would still check them out since I do like him as a director. That's the only reason I would recommend this to anyone.

Great specials terrible packaging
on January 28, 2019

This collection has all of Carlin's specials and some extras but suffers from it's packaging. I myself have tried 3 different sets only to find a significant number of scratches on every disc. So I suggest waiting till that's handled by the manufacturer.
