SPY (2015)

Spy is both a comedy and an action adventure with both genres running at full strength. With Melissa McCarthy in the comedic role of a desk bound CIA analyst, who finally gets her chance to serve in the field and Jason Statham as the hardened CIA agent who wants no part of her in the operation, you have a formula for great entertainment.

Thomas Crown Is Quite an Affair
on December 1, 2018

Tycoon Thomas Crown (Steve McQueen) is bored and just for the joy of adventure, he masterminds and accomplishes a daring bank robbery. However, the insurance investigator put on the job (Faye Dunaway) plays an excellent cat and mouse game with him to try to nail him for the crime, and thus the story winds down its inevitable path. This original is better than the remakes.

This American Horror story finds a young black man with his white girl friend visiting her family at a strange mansion where he discovers some odd behavior among some of the other guests and family members. As the plot progresses, you wonder who is in on the sinister goings on and who is not, until our hero finds himself totally involved in the action. Great suspense and screenplay.

A great cold-war spy thriller set after the Korean War. Soldiers who went missing during the war reemerge after being brainwashed, but this secret is hidden from the public who accept them as heroes in the U.S. A political background story takes these men on a trip through espionage and murder climaxing in great intrigue. A classic!!

Classic Sci-Fi Horror - The Fly
on November 30, 2018
Posted by: Deanabear

Verified Purchase:Yes
The 1958 B&W version of the classic sci-fi horror film is still the best, since it leaves out the gore and fills in with suspense. A scientist working on a molecule transporter doesn't see a common house fly is with him in the chamber when he tries to beam himself up to Scotty (only kidding). The result is the head and arm of a fly on a man's body. Oh, the horror!! Creepy 60 years ago, but good campiness today. Still a classic.

Whose Interning Who?
on November 30, 2018

Verified Purchase:Yes
Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway pair up perfectly in this comedy adventure about a man who is trying to get a job when he pretty much passed the hiring age (70) in this business world. He gets a job at an online fashion company, of which he knows nothing about and is told he is to be intern to the website's founder (Anne), but she only wants him for window dressing and doesn't expect him to be of much help. The twist is that he is of more help than she could ever imagine and the roles flip as he begins to mentor her. Great cast for these comic scenes.

The Apartment (1960)

After 58 years it is still a classic! Bud Baxter is in a company where the guys in upper management are truly reprehensible. If he wants to keep his job or get promoted, his bosses want to use his upper west-side apartment for their extra-marital affairs. Being a bachelor, but wanting a little companionship himself, he tries to date one of the elevator girls and winds up with a problem when he finds out that she is one of the bosses affairs. Great cast, screenplay and direction. Gene Wilder's films have been called sardonic comedies and this is a good example!

American Tragedy

Verified Purchase:Yes
This biopic of an American war hero, whose job it was to keep the men in his combat unit from getting killed while on patrol or in a fire fight. He was a sniper par excellence and had to make some very difficult split second decisions to stay on the edge of what is right and what is reckless abandon to his skill. Like any true story, you can't change the ending, but in this case you would really like to.

Gene Wilder, Cleavon Little, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman. Villagers must defend their small town from a group of mercenaries in this sidesplitting send-up that pokes fun at nearly every Western ever filmed. Directed by Mel Brooks and sub-titled a Psycho-Comedy. 1974/color/94 min/PG.

Highest Anxiety

Mel Brooks does another of his classic send offs. This time he parodies the Alfred Hitchcock thrillers. What gives it less than 5 stars is the fact that Hitchcock had also added humor into his films at times. A spoof works a little less humorous in this case than when you lampoon something that is highly self-important and therefore setting itself up for ridicule. Other than that, it has a great comic cast, and lots of lampoons to curl your mouth into a grin, if not out and out laughter.

For Winnie the Pooh lovers this is a gem, as Winnie and his friends seek out a grown up Christopher Robin and help him to enjoy life and laughter again. Combined live action and animation has become a forte for the Disney crew, as Pooh seems as alive as Christopher in this enchanting film.

Man From Laramie
By Deanabear
This 1955 James Stewart western was one of the first to be filmed in Cinemascope. The plot has our hero Will Lockhart (Stewart) delivering supplies from Laramie to Coronado, a small remote town in Apache territory. However, his problem isn't with the Indians, but with the son of the autocratic owner of a large ranch outside of town. Will's cavalry brother had been killed in battle, and so he is quietly searching for someone who is selling repeating rifles to the Apaches. During his search a witness is found dead and Will is accused of it as well as stealing by the rancher's son. Things come to a head between the two in a fight for justice. Good Oater!!

The Desperadoes
April 5, 2020
The second film on this DVD is a 1943 Technicolor western stars Randolph Scott who is as a sheriff of a small town and is trying to find out who robbed the bank not knowing that it was an inside job. Cheyenne (Glenn Ford) rides into town having arrived too late to help rob the bank. He's in love with the saloon owner and gets a job breaking broncos at a ranch. The sheriff knows Cheyenne as a friend, but another bank robbery done as a set up to frame Cheyenne and his sidekick to hang. Steve busts him out and is put into jail himself, but is freed by Cheyenne. The two of them than set out to settle the score. An early Glenn Ford western with the role of an anti-hero. An oldie but a goodie.

The essentials to get it all done. Office Home & Student is for students and families who want classic Office apps including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Windows 10. A one-time purchase installed on one Windows 10 PC or Mac for use at home or school.

Hi, I recently purchased the latest iPad (7th generation) and need to use word. I noticed that with the word available on the App Store I have to pay a monthly fee. If I made this one time purchase would it work on my iPad? Thanks

I have the Office Home & Student version, which says it is good for 1 PC or 1 Mac and the system requirements, besides Windows 10 for PCs, also says or macOS. If your iPad has the macOS on it, then yes! Ask the store tech guy for a second opinion or go to the Microsoft web site to confirm before you buy.
