Spectacular, but pricey, home theater experience

Sony seems to have released this speaker system to stand between the soundbar and the separates and receiver spaces. The reason I say that is it can’t really be in either camp, but to me, it seems to have the best parts of both.
Like a soundbar, this system is super easy to set up. All of the components only rely on power cables, there is no speaker wire needed. That was a major point for me. I wanted a clean set up. This delivers.
In some very important thank major ways this system however gives you a very immersive, theater like experience. There are limitations of course, the fidelity may not be as high as a proper receiver. But to my consumer centric ears, these are spectacular for a home theater. They offer tanks and dts:x, they do the proper Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio. If you have a 4K Blu-ray player and disks, these give you levels way beyond soundbar setups.
They aren’t cheap, but I feel strongly that they are worth it when considering you get the convenience. And they look good.

The luxury experience for bean grinding

This the second of this coffee grinder that I have purchased. This is a gift, because I purchased one of the these earlier in the year for myself and love it so much it’s an easy gift idea.
I know that many grinders out there have many of the same settings as this one. You have adjustments for grain size, from French Press to espresso, with many sizes in between. You have the dial to adjust for how many cups of coffee wants, which takes the guessing out of measuring. You have a nice sized hopper above that allows you to preload beans. What you might not know is that it has a built in holder that will hold your espresso cup for easy filling. It is stowed under the grounds cup at the bottom. You also have a catch cup that has a sealable lid so you can keep grounds fresh longer. The way this Kitchenaid grinder provides all of these is just really elegant and fun. And it is an attractive appliance on top of that. You can get it in several colors so it’s really nice sitting on your counter.
This grinder is also one of the quietest I’ve experienced. Any grinder will make noise. But I’ve had friends point out that they have never heard a grinder this quiet. You can almost make conversation while it is running.
I have also noticed this grinder goes on sale quite a bit. Which makes its value even better.
Overall I would highly recommend this grinder if you are looking for grinding your beans.

This is a simple, but very effective holder for MagSafe compatible iPhones. I have not tried it with a case that doesn’t have the MagSafe capability along with the phone yet, but I think that is something that is crucial for this working well.
I like the way I can easily stick the phone on the holder and pull it off just as easily. It’s also low profile and more futuristic than a typical holder with arms.

I have a Kindle Voyage, a gen 1 Kindle Oasis, and now this 11th gen Paperwhite. Out of the three I’m liking this one the best. True that much of the improvements to this device came to the Oasis gen 2, but the asymmetric back of the oasis never really impressed me, the aluminum back is slick, and it just didn’t wow me for the $250+ price. This Paperwhite took all of the best features that came to the Oasis gen 2 and added wireless charging, a USB C port, and a screen size that is almost as large, and is less than $200. I’m sold. It’s a great reader! Fits well in the hand, has a great light, has the blue light feature for eye strain relief. It’s really my sweet spot.

Decent case but not entirely worth it

I picked this up for my new Kindle because it was one of the only options at my local store for the new model Paperwhite. Overall the case is good, it feels solid but not heavy, it has the feature where the cover magnetically sticks to the back when it’s open, and the on/off feature works every time.
I will say that the leather material feels cheap. If it claimed being waterproof then I would forgive the plastic feel to it, but I don’t think it is. It’s not off putting but I would not have paid full price for this ($39). Since I’m a Total Tech member it was on sale. So that made it worth it.
The red color is really nice also.

Nature’s beauty in the home

I bought this documentary for reasons other than what most probably do. I wanted a nature doc that was produced in a clean 4K format and with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. This was to demonstrate my new tv and sound system.
I received it in the mail, Best Buy shipping has been very good for me. I put it in a dedicated blu ray player so that it would be the most accurate playback. All of the menus were clear and basic.
This movie is an amazing demonstration of my setup. The audio is crisp and balanced, the Atmos effects are top notch and really pull you into the narrative. The picture is breathtaking. It’s nature in so much color and beauty. And the narrative is interesting and fun.
This movie proved to be a great purchase.

This is a really fun game. It's funny, pretty easy to pick up and understand. It's graphically fast and attractive. The mechanics are pretty simple. I take one star off because if someone isn't knowledgeable about rogue-like games, when your character is defeated, you start back at the beginning. Certain things are kept, but you flush a lot of acquired ground. I knew this going in, and this might be a feature, but it forces me to walk away and cool down every so often because it can get frustrating after a while. So beware. I do recommend it though.

Great alternative to the Apple Watch phenomenon

After being an Apple iPhone and Watch person, I decided to move to Android recently. Because I use my watch for fitness things, I wanted to have a watch that works with my android device. The level of interconnected features on this watch are really great with the android experience, particularly with a Samsung device. I did also try a Wear OS watch and it actually is a solid device as well, but this watch just feels more polished in general. I enjoy the experience, even outside the Apple ecosystem.

Hi Tristan. I would say the biggest differences for me between this and Voyage are the screen and the speed. The screen on this is bigger, the light is more balanced and removing blue light is a game changer. The speed is night and day. Page turns, menus, downloads, power cycling. All much smoother and faster. This is slightly larger in overall dimensions compared to the Voyage, but it isn’t hard to hold or heavy. I also mentioned in the review that the Oasis form factor was not my favorite. This is similar to the Voyage, and why I kept the Voyage befor. So if you prefer the symmetric slab of the Voyage, this Paperwhite gives you essentially the Oasis experience in a slightly larger Voyage form factor. It’s definitely a great upgrade!

Will this stand support LG OLED G1 tv?
I believe this is rated for up to 60 lbs. my 65” G1 is roughly 64 lbs. I would not recommend a G1 larger than 55” because the manufacturer will not likely honor the warranty if something is installed on it greater than that. I have a 42” C2 on it however and it’s great. The base is really heavy. I used the Kanto line than BB sells for my 65” G2. Works great also and is rated for up to an 80”.

4 questions I love coffee and work at a coffee shop and have been looking for a good grinder 1.is this a burr grinder or blades? 2.how good does it grind for cold brew? 3.how good does it grind for a syphon or French press or pour over?
1. This is a burr grinder. Very powerful also.
2. I’m not sure how you brew for cold brew, but the grain size adjustment has a huge range, and that is marked on the grinder in increments also for French Press, percolate, drip, and espresso. Each of those marked ranges have many steps to fine tune the grain size.
3. I have a French Press and have used the French Press range on the grinder many times, dialing it in each time. I would say the middle to largest grain size in that French Press range is the best. If you get closer to the percolate range this thing is powerful enough to give you finer grains and you will get some pass through on your mesh in the French Press.
2. I’m not sure how you brew for cold brew, but the grain size adjustment has a huge range, and that is marked on the grinder in increments also for French Press, percolate, drip, and espresso. Each of those marked ranges have many steps to fine tune the grain size.
