An Instant War Classic
on December 27, 2018

An instant war classic that finds its power in individual tales of heroism and renders them larger than life.
Technically awe-inspiring, narratively inventive and thematically complex, “Dunkirk” reinvigorates its genre with a war movie that is both harrowing and smart.
“Dunkirk” isn’t comfortable to watch; it never relents or relaxes. At the same time, it’s impossible to look away from it.
One of the best UHD releases of 2017

A Dude Who Wants His Rug Back

On one hand, it has many layers, but on the other hand, it's just about a dude who wants his rug back.
It’s essential. It’s enormously entertaining. A great cast that performs with the upmost level of hilarity. The whole film is insanely quotable and only gets better with re-watches, re-watches that will have you noticing new things you never noticed before regardless of how many times you’ve seen the film before.
And in 4K, it’s the print this film deserves.

2018’s “Get Out”
on November 28, 2018

This is this year’s “Get Out.” “Sorry to Bother You” has something to say about the way we treat hourly wage workers. I kept getting Spike Jonze and Spike Lee impressions all throughout.
The key winners here are Boots Riley and Lakeith Stanfield. Stanfield nails it. Director/writer, Riley, has a lot to say. His film is truly loaded. The main thing and sad thing that I got out of this was that people will often just accept and adapt to whatever is put upon them. My only gripe is the film made some odd editing choices, but mostly forgivable.
Again, “Sorry to Bother You” is very much a social thriller/comedy in the vein of “Get Out” and makes for another good chapter in modern-day filmmaking.

A Powerful Joint

Lee accomplishes something truly incredible with this latest 'joint.' He deftly balances a tone of comedy, reality, seriousness and anger in one of 2018's best.
What this all does is create tension and Lee does it masterfully. Lee's love of the cinema really shines through with this film. There's choices he makes that are just exquisite. Showing Belafonte tell tales of racist actions courtesy of D.W. Griffith's "The Birth of a Nation" against a Klan initiation where they revere Griffith's film is powerful!
I can't stop praising Lee's boldness as "BlacKkKlansman" is truly so visceral, fun, and infuriating all at once.

Great film for lovers of art house horror

"Suspiria" has never been so hypnotically and deliriously gorgeous. Luciano Tovoli's cinematography absolutely sings in 4k. The stunning, technicolor-hued production design absolutely oozes off the screen in a way it never has before. This is Argento's surrealist Grimm's fairy tale showcased in all its groundbreaking saturated glory.
