"There can be only one" is probably the perfect quote to sum up Highlander being released on 4K. I highly doubt the sequels will ever make it past bluray (if they made it that far), but this movie is deserving of the title to be the only one.
Between a great cast and an epic soundtrack led by Freddie Mercury and Queen, it was a perfect recipe to create a movie anyone can enjoy (if you like sword flicks).
The opening them, 'Princes of the Universe' is by far one of Queen's best songs, but they've had so many beyond this one.
The plot is simple, a group of immortals vie for the coveted title of being "the one" by battling one another to the death. As one immortal beheads another, they are then treated to an experience called the Quickening, a release of powerful energy that the living immortal absorbs, taking in all the power and knowledge of their opponent. Dispatching all immortals but one will grant them "The Prize" (this is brought up in Highlander 2).
The movie also shows the consequences of being immortal and though not subtle, it doesn't just hit you in the face with it.
It's a simple movie that doesn't make you think too hard about its themes and well paced to keep you entertained.

It's My Christmas Special

National Lampoon's really hit it out of the park with this one, it really captures the insanity and craziness of the Griswold family, something that was missing in European Vacation (still funny, but not nearly as the first and this).
For me personally, this is my Christmas movie. Some may be turned off by the comedy, but that's what makes it enjoyable. Not all Christmas get-together's are perfect and I think this movie sums that up very well. It's certainly over-the-top, but done well enough that you won't feel bad for watching and probably liking it.
Returning as family Griswold is Chevy Chase as Clark, Beverly D'Angelo as Ellen and Randy Quiad as cousin Eddie. Juliette Lewis plays Audrey (who apparently got over Jack because she got super thin and turned blond).
Fans of 'The Big Bang Theory' may recognize a very young Johnny Galecki who plays Clark's son, Rusty. Even in this, he has a bit of that snarky delivery that you'll instantly recognize.
There are some other notable appearances for the Griswold family as well, making this a truly eventful gathering.
It's a fun movie with a great cast and even better story. You can't go wrong!

B-movie goodness

If you're into bad/low budget movies like me, you'll at least enjoy this for what it is. There's not much to it since the plot doesn't really follow Samira, the woman turned "cyborg", for which the movie is about. She doesn't talk much and being the type of movie it is, don't expect Terminator types of action from her. She mainly runs around shooting things.
The print is upscaled to 2K, it still looks a bit grainy, but you don't get that bad "VHS to disc" transfer look.
An alternate title for this is "Retaliator" if you're ever looking this up and confused on search results.

Nice little card

Had to find a quick solution after my GTX970 decided to give up on life. This little guy will help bridge that gap when I build my new rig later this year and I can upgrade to a 300/400 series GPU.
It's quiet, runs everything my 970 could and even more, easy to install, and it doesn't take up as much space as the larger cards.
This is the perfect card if you want to get into gaming and want to build a budget machine, you won't regret purchasing it and I had no problem doing so myself.
It features two Displayport connections and one HDMI and it will support three monitors. I'm running a dual 24" monitor setup on Displayports.
I do wish it had a back plate, though, even being a budget card, it's nice having that extra bit of "something" to cover the PCB and back plates do help with cooling. Not something that is a must, more of a vanity thing.

Bought Heavy Metal on Bluray years ago, always hoped for Heavy Metal 2000 on Bluray and it just never happened. I was happy to find out that this comes with Heavy Metal 2000 on Bluray (finally!). I didn't even know because it doesn't show it anywhere except in one of the product descriptions that I didn't even look at when ordering. Very well worth the price for the 4K copy of the first movie to have the Bluray copy of 2000!

One of the top classic fantasy movies to own and now on 4K. This is the movie that needs to be right next to The Dark Crystal and Legend (and more) on your shelf. It's impossible to imagine anyone else buy David Bowie as the Goblin King as he himself does a lot of singing in this movie and this movie may not have garnered such a following had he not been in it. This one is good for kids and adults alike with very little violence and bad language.

A group of kids are given the plans to create a nearly indestructible bubble that defies gravity and logic and soon build their own spaceship to travel to space to find out who has been sending them the messages. Think "This Island Earth", but with a better story and no aliens wearing trousers.

It's name Event Horizon. The high-tech, pioneering research spacecraft mysteriously vanished without a trace on it's maiden voyage seven years earlier. This is what you get when you mix horror and sci-fi and get the formula right. While some of the techobabble can be boring to sit through, the horror aspect of the movie is what you're really watching it for. From what I understand, this is what Jason X was supposed to be more like had it not been for the studio interference and hacking up the script even while filming. Some of the CG effects don't hold up so well today, but at least it's kept to a minimum. Lovers of both sci-fi and horror will enjoy this.

When I saw this was getting a 4K release, I jumped all over it. While it doesn't follow the book as closely as the Tim Burton version attempted to, you at least won't be left feeling uneasy watching Wonka himself and the practical effects are just so much fun to watch. That's not to say the Tim Burton version is bad, but I think they tried too hard to make it as over-the-top as possible and forgot what made this one such a classic. Also, it has Gene Wilder in it, how can you not enjoy it?
