An amazing game with incredible graphics

The long-awaited sequel to Red, Dead Redemption is the most visually stunning game I've ever played. You feel like you're watching a movie, not playing a game (until, you know, you have to shoot at some bad guys). And if violence or hunting animals (the "skinning" scenes are quite graphic) doesn't appeal, you can play poker or dominoes or just go fishing (and, yes, you can throw the fish back). Rockstar Games has created a vibrant world with just about any kind of earthly terrain or weather conditions you can imagine. Even after playing the game for MANY hours thus far, I can still be surprised...like when an alligator took out a gunman that was trying to kill me in a swamp. Or when I was besieged in the dark (in the same swamp) by some weird voodoo men painted like skeletons. And so on. If you're a fan of westerns or shooter games or, um, hunting and mutilating animals, then Red, Dead Redemption 2 is for you.

Mulder and Scully are back!
on October 3, 2018

Season 11 of The X-Files does a lot to refine the show's "new" mythology. The aliens don't want our planet anymore. And Cancer Man wants to wipe out humanity with an alien virus. They key to saving the world is Mulder and Scully's alien-human hybrid son. This 11th season also has a humorous episode (which is awful) and one that is designed to make us think about how our society is way too dependent on technology (which is excellent). Aside from those, it's the same "aliens and monsters" kind of show that has survived cancellation to return in a new form.

Season 13 and still going strong

Sam and Dean Winchester have been to "heck" and back...a lot. Their angel pal Castiel has been along for a lot of that ride. All of them have died, been resurrected, been messed with by the devil, and so on. But the son of the devil, Jack, may be the most powerful being in the universe. And everyone is trying to see who he will pick as his role model and whether he will end up good...or evil. There's also a lot going on in the "Apocalypse World" dimension that we've seen glimpses of before. If you're a Supernatural fan, you know the drill.

Sneaky Pete is sneaky good fun

A story about a con man with a heart (sort of) trying to save his brother from a crooked ex-cop is at the core of Sneaky Pete. He hijacks the identity of his cellmate to infiltrate his estranged family. Unfortunately, that family isn't in "stocks and bonds" but in "bail bonds." Sneaky Pete is a good ride through dark and strange situations.

Avengers: Infinity War was worth the wait!

In my opinion, Avengers: Infinity War is--by far--the best Marvel film to date (and the best film of 2018!). The fight to keep Thanos from gaining unlimited power spans the entire galaxy and combines the efforts of nearly every Marvel hero. This movie deserves all the awards!

Arrow: City Under Siege

Whether it's from super-hackers or gangsters or rogue vigilantes or evil doppelgangers or villains from another dimension, Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, and Star City are under attack. Reeling from the explosive events of season five, Oliver Queen is still Mayor of Star City--and now a new father as well (to a son in his early teens). But the Green Arrow is the main target of many evil forces who want Star City for their own. The best thing about this set is that it has all four episodes (from Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow) of the crossover event "Crisis on Earth X."

The Blacklist is back!

This is sort of a "reboot" season for The Blacklist. One of the main characters dies, and change is in the air. Red (James Spader) has to rebuild his empire after one of his trusted lieutenants betrayed him in season four. Liz has to come to grips with the fact that Red is her father. Or is he? And everyone is chasing a suitcase full of bones that holds Red's darkest secret.

Resident Evil Collection is goofy horror fun!

While the writing and acting may not be that great, this 6-movie Resident Evil Blu-Ray set will look great on a 4K TV, that's for sure. If you love lots of action and gnarly beasties (and Milla Jovovich), you'll enjoy this set!

Filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (RAISING ARIZONA, FARGO) create a complex and graphic vision of gangsterism set during Prohibition and featuring a riveting rouges gallery of killers and con men. Leo (Albert Finney), a likeable Irish gangster boss, rules an Eastern city along with Tom (Gabriel Byrne), his trusted lieutenant and counselor. But just as their authority is challenged by an Italian underboss (Jon Polito) and his ruthless henchman (J.E. Freeman), Leo and Tom also fall for the same woman (Marcia Gay Harden). Tom, caught in the jaws of a gangland power struggle, walks a deadly tightrope as he tries to control and manipulate it's violent outcome.

Miller's Crossing is my favorite Coen Brothers movie and, for my money, one of the best mobster movies ever made. Everyone involved in the film gives the performance of their careers here. Check it out!

Ready Player One is VERY different from the book

If you're a fan of the "Ready Player One" book, the movie may disappoint you. Spielberg has turned an adult novel into a kid's movie. It's little more than a cartoon dumbed down for movie audiences around the globe.
