FAST machine but downgraded camera

I would have given five stars but for some inexplicable reason, HP DOWNgraded the camera to a lower resolution on this model compared to the what was in the same model previously. Must be because so many of the online video meeting services limit resolution to 720p to conserve on bandwidth. However, all of the other upgrades made the choice to opt for the newer model easier. This machine is very fast and stays cool and quiet under heavy use. Absolutely gorgeous screen clarity and color.

Post-Samsung, worth the extra dough

Just before buying this Sony I had purchased a 75" Samsung Q6. It had beautiful color but I quickly saw that the processor couldn't keep up with even relatively slow movements on-screen. For instance, while playing a movie, when an actor would turn his/her head quickly to the side, there would be pixilation or ghosting or whatever you want to call it. When watching a football game, the ball would completely disappear from the screen during a kickoff. Then the processor started doing some other goofy things such as moving the on-screen menu to a different quadrant of the screen. Given that if electronics are going to have problems, they usually reveal themselves within the first 30 days, I quickly began to lose confidence that the Q6 was going to survive long. Back it went to Best Buy.
I replaced it with this Sony 75" X900F which was considerably more expensive, but I think it's worth it since we don't buy TVs often...we've been very pleased with its performance so far. We pull our TV signals from an antenna and, like the Samsung, it seems to have trouble pulling in the lower end of the channel range (below channel 15) so I need to boost the signal with a pre-amp. I don't know if this is a fault of the larger-TV processors/tuners needing more signal strength to power such a large screen, or what the issue may be (our older 50" and 36" Sonys pull in every channel quite easily). We mostly use this TV to watch streaming movies and shows, so the tuner strength is not all that critical for us, but still necessitates dinging the rating by one star.

Improvement over TV, but just OK

Certainly a vast improvement over the weak speakers of any new TV, but the sound is just good, not great. I doubt you'll be wowed, but in fairness, my last sound system was a Bose so that's a quite high bar. Also, I had a problem getting the soundbar to sync with our new Samsung TV so that the soundbar came on automatically with the TV and I'm not sure where the problem lay, with the TV or the soundbar so, unfortunately, they both went back to Best Buy.

This is about the 8th Arlo I've purchased and still own. The biggest benefit, IMHO, is the free 7 days of recording for the first 5 cameras or whatever it is. After that, the prices for more cameras is more reasonable than other security cam makers offer. The Pro cams work well except for the speaker function -- I consider myself quite tech savvy and I've never been able to make any of the speakers work. That was a major disappointment at first but in reality, I would rarely be using it so I'm more concerned with Arlo's other features.

Can the subwoofer operate properly if it is laid on its side?
I'm guessing you want to lay it flat on the wide side and, yes, I THINK it would work, although I've never tried when I had mine. If it matters to you, the woof will be shooting straight up into the air and the shiny, "decorative" side will be facing down. Not sure if the internal mechanics of the speaker are designed to operate that way. One potential problem for sure would be vibration so I'd recommend putting those small rubber nubs (Home Depot, Lowes) on the side you lay it on.
