The sound is killer on this disk, happy to have rebought it just for an Atmos track. Where this disc shines though is the new color grading. All the super dark areas that were hard to see before on BluRay have been corrected with color grading and the use of HDR for more detail in the shadows. The scenes are still dark, but with added detail that makes them not feel artificially lit and washed out. I would recommend rebuying if you had it on BluRay.

I thoroughly enjoyed this edition of the films. I know there’s some consternation around the picture quality but I personally found it to be a non issue, I’m not freezing the movie looking for flaws and I’m glad many of the digital scenes were rerendered, and in my opinion look better integrated into the filmed counterparts. The big win here is the Atmos soundtrack. I could go on forever about how awesome it sounds but I’ll leave it for you to experience. The Mines of Moria is a shining example of Atmos sound and is now probably my go to scene to show off my Atmos setup.

I’m pretty happy with the picture quality and the sound quality of this set. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel having DTS-X as opposed to Dolby Atmos for sound, but it’s pretty awesome in my opinion. I checked the BluRay versions and there’s not much in the way of additional content but I owned the original 8 disc BluRay set and so for me personally it’s a no. Issue, especially when I get extended editions of the first two films. The quality of the packaging was really the worst part about this boxed set. The flimsy plastic hinged two sided disc holders are pretty terrible and have a hard time holding the discs in place, so be very careful when you open the sets up. Also I was perturbed there isn’t a digital copy of the films and would have preferred to have that over the BluRay copies included in the set.
The one that started it all! Experience the terror - from the beginning - with the first chilling chapter of the Alien saga, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Sigourney Weaver in her breakout performance as Ripley. When the crew of the space-tug Nostromo responds to a distress signal from a barren planet, they discover a mysterious life form that breeds within human hosts. The acid-blooded extraterrestrial proves to be the ultimate adversary as crew members battle to stay alive and prevent the deadly creature from reaching Earth.

This is how I want to see Alien! The picture is amazing keeping the film grain intact with 4K resolution, however, the HDR makes this the best experience I’ve had watching this film outside of a theater. All the dark scenes have detail in them and the bright white scenes don’t feel washed out. Really a well balance picture.

I’m giving this film 5 Stars for the quality of the presentation here in 4K. It’s reference quality of what was just a good film. The HDR is put to good use in this film and although it’s not in Dolby Atmos, the soundtrack remains epic with all the horns and strings.

It was fun to see this film in 4K after seeing it at the theater and then only on BluRay for so long. The picture is spectacular and helped breathe new life into a movie I’ve seen many times. The HDR helpful with the darks scenes and even though the soundtrack didn’t get a Dolby Atmos treatment, it still packs a wallop. This 4K release will get many replays at my house.
Christopher Nolan steps back into the director's chair for this sequel to Batman Begins, which finds the titular superhero coming face to face with his greatest nemesis - the dreaded Joker. Christian Bale returns to the role of Batman, Maggie Gyllenhaal takes over the role of Rachel Dawes (played by Katie Holmes in Batman Begins), and Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger dons the ghoulishly gleeful Joker makeup previously worn by Jack Nicholson and Cesar Romero. Just as it begins to appear as if Batman, Lt. James Gordon (Gary Oldman), and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) are making headway in their tireless battle against the criminal element, a maniacal, wisecracking fiend plunges the streets of Gotham City into complete chaos.

This was how I remembered seeing this film in the theater, aspect ratio changes and all. The picture here is amazing especially the IMAX filmed scenes. The sound feels crisp and balanced with tons of sub frequencies where they are needed. The sound is not reformatted to Dolby Atmos, but instead is kept to the original 5.1 which I feel is honoring the original and makes this seem like a reference quality archival of the film. I’m a huge fan of Atmos sound but I’m happy they played it safe over getting it wrong .

I was hoping for pristine picture quality, I got OK picture quality. I still feel this boxed set is worth the price of admission particularly because of the Dolby Atmos sound. This is the shining pinnacle of home theater sound. The Mines of Moria gloriously echo in cavernous reverberations that completely envelope the listener with realistic sound reflections. The battle for Helms Deep in The Two Towers is brought to new heights with its new audio soundtrack but the battle at Osgiliath reigns supreme in my opinion for its use of Dolby Atmos. You will feel like you are in the middle of the battle. I make my opinions based on having a pretty decent 7.1.2 home theater setup with a Marantz receiver and Klipsch speakers and sub. Your mileage may vary depending on your setup. If the picture was spectacular as well I’d give this five stars, but it’s not. It isn’t terrible, but for the time they spend remastering I expected better.

Beautiful picture with easy setup. Pairs well with the AppleTV 4K but cones with a host of apps built in. The price was amazing for a TV this nice looking. I love the way the cords are managed within the rear compartment. Makes for a nice clean uncluttered look. I would definitely recommend this TV for someone looking for a great TV on a budget.

Got my Steelbook edition of Star Wars. Picture is awesome, the Dolby Atmos is awesome, and the artwork on the Steelbook looks great. I haven’t checked out any extra features yet so I can rate based on any of them, but the main package is awesome.
