I will admit that I had never seen any of these movies, although I had access to the first two. I bought this ones I saw the price and it was a no-brainer. I still have not watched them!
I just skimmed through it to check the quality. It's good 4K quality but the price for 3 movies in 4K - no wonder it is no longer available as of this review! I was not even sure if I like them or no and I am not a fan of the elderly Stallone still trying to look and act like he is 35, but you cannot pass on this and no one else has this!

4K makes it (almost) seem new!

Back in the day, Star Wars was all the rage and you had MANY imitators. Star Trek came first - but that was mostly dialog and for adults, but Star Wars was more exciting!
I know that there was Space:1999, Buck Rodgers and some others that were OK for what they were, but Battlestar Galactica - while no Star Wars, was stronger than other imitators in look and story lines. It turned out that many who worked on Star Wars, worked on this, hence similarities in the spacecraft and the Cylons being like Stormtroopers.
I recall that this came on NBC back in the late 70's and early 80's and it was good show, and they even had toys to go with it. I have not seen the show since then, but once I saw this on 4K at this price - I was shocked and I bit! I never knew that this existed and none of the site that I go on daily ever mentioned this title. It was a blind buy for me.
I popped it in - and it exceeded my expectations! It was crystal clear with strong color and depth! Details were not as minute, but still very good. I did not watch it through yet, but it immediately brought back memories. It is also a weird feeling when you can think back 45 years ago, yet be barely older than that...
If you remember it - get it. I doubt if I would get the whole series or even the newer one that came out, but I am happy to have this, and have the quality be actual 4K quality.
Also, IMDB says that the TV aspect ratio is 4:3 but the theatrical ratio (they say this came out in theaters) was 1:85:. It does not say which is the native ratio, but this disc is in widescreen and it looks great. Many TV shows shot on film would or could have extra information that was cut out on the sides to fit 4:3 TV's, so anything extra COULD be true. I think that if this had not been true widescreen, they would have either made it 4:3 or included it in the package.

I admit that I did not watch it yet, I just skimmed through it. While I have not seen this since it first came on cable back in the mid-80's, this picture looked PERFECT! It was sharp and clean, with precise color!
Many mid to late 80's films have that muted color look along with a softer picture, so for all of Hollywood history, they seem to look the worst. HD can work wonders with them but 4K is the only way that they CAN look their best.
This title is not known as a classic and is noted for having flopped, but it is an earlier Marvel title and at this price - why not?
It also has DTS-X - which is a plus. I just skimmed through it so I really did not get to examine if any effects were present. Even if you think that this film was dumb, at current pricing, I would just get it if for nothing else, seeing what 4K can do!

I bought this nearly 2 years ago and I finally got around to watching it. I will say that this was a very well made film that kind of stands the test of time! There are very few things in it that will remind you that this is from 1968! This was the Star Wars influence and practically other space type films. This is the first actually looked like it was not taking place one earth.
I have a Dolby Vision set up, so of course I wanted to see what it can do. DV can have dramatic effects on lesser quality 4K titles, but not as much on stellar quality titles. 2001's quality was either great or perfect! I was looking for flaws but I found very little. The picture was bright, with the right contrast and strong and precise color. Blacks were strong but detailed. Whites were clear, detailed and white. If nothing else, DV does HDR like you would expect for it to look - very much improved without putting it through shades! The facial closeups looks so detailed and color so precise, that I kept reminding myself that this is a 1968 film!
As I was watching it again, I was now able to make much more sense out of what I was seeing and the story. The last scene is still confusing, but I think that I have a better idea of what it meant. The presentation seems to be about showing off the tech and how that played into the story, while kind of suppressing dialog (what few there was) as unimportant. I guess it was not.
The audio is what it is, but I am not sure if the music was much louder than the dialog on purpose (to make the viewer not worry about the dialog), or it just came out that way. I really hate when the music is much louder than the dialog. Titles like Cliffhanger 4K did a great job of evening up the audio so you won't have to keep turning the music and effects down, then turning the dialog back up. Overall, there is not much sound and most consists of music.
I did not really want to get this because I had it on BD, then sold it and bought the 3-pack with The Shining and Clockwork Orange - which are NOW all available separately in 4K. I liked saving space. The price came within reason, so I bit. The picture quality on this film was always strong and DV just enhanced it. So, this film scores very well in my book. Dolby Atmos or DTS-X, would have really made the sound and experience a whole lot better! If they come with one - i'm not biting on that.

OK, but did this really need to be in 4K?

I did not really want to double dip on the Krubick films since I had them on BD, but I figured I would try to upgrade my BD collection to 4K - especially since usually come with remastered BD's to fall back on.
This one (either stylistically or by accident) looks rough and unworthy of 4K from the start until he goes to prison. Again, that may have been the film maker's call - but it does look better than the BD, but that also could have been due to the cooler color and HDR. After the guy goes to prison, the picture is more consistent and more detailed and you can then see the 4K upgrade. This happens for many films, as scenes may be shot at different times and the lighting may change, as well as camera settings.
For the first 30 minutes or so, I kept asking myself "did they REALLY need to 4K this?" After that time point, 4K showed through, but I don't know if it justifies the typically higher price on this title. With that said, it has never looked better and probably never will. The scene where the guy is eating spaghetti, the meal looked clear, sharp and colorful enough that it almost looked like it would had you just made it. The weird early 70's fashions come through so that you can make out the wild colors and weird materials! I still cannot understand the clothing from that era...
If you are upgrading - get it. If you have the Krubrick BD 3-pack with this, you COULD pass. However, his 2001 on 4K has no room for criticism as that looks flawless!
I did not go into the sound because there is nothing to brag about. it is in 5.1 but it only comes into play when music is being played. I guess that;s good.

POWERFUL Documentary - scam Blu-Ray!

If you were like me, you may have seen this title and recalled this coming on PBS years ago. It was the most detailed and powerful footage of The Korean War that I had ever seen before, and thus - I never forgot about this! I'm sure that you also wondered why it is hard to fin specs on the disc to...
I get really concerned when I cannot find basic details, but I bought this anyway since I had house money. BD's are supposed to be a minimum of 1080P, but this disc says that the content is 1080i. Looking at it, it looks like it was as it was during it's broadcast - 480i, then upscaled to 1080i. I guess this is why they did not want to list the specs on the case or on any site either.
I suppose, this will never be released in true 1080P or relieve a true HD remaster, so i'll keep it. It is also 4:3 and NOT 16:9. That is why this is so inexpensive. So basically you are not getting the minimum requirements for a BD disc.
The ONLY saving grace is, this was a POWERFUL documentary, one that got detailed and graphic. There is a reason this is called the 'forgotten war,' because it came after WWII, and because it ended in a tie! I would recommend it, but don't expect standard HD. They really should have made it 1080P and 16:9, and/or stated the specs online or on the package. Many people may not appreciate getting duped.

I figured that i would get this for a more even cook on oven items. This does provide a more even cooking on items made for the oven or deep frying. It is usually quicker than an over and not radiated like a microwave.
Its easy to clean and many products show cooking directions, but you may have to experiment for different types of foods. Id get one.

This film was not good and serves as a way to try to transfer seemingly cool blackness onto Mexicans. This is Hollywood for you, always promoting agendas. After watching this - i suddenly realized that i dont like any of these movies!
On top of that, best buy sold me a used, re-wrapped disc as new. Thats crooked. If its used, tell us. We van tell by the shrink wrap as opposed to the heat fold, pkus we get heat wrinkles on the case.

The film itself is ok and the picture and sound quality are great, and this is native 4k too. My problem is with best buy. This is a re-wrapped item sold as new. Not cool. Digital codes could be used and you get heat wrinkles on the case. Shameful.

I had a hard time evaluating this processor. It's supposed to be an entry point into HEDT, but the performance lags behind the competition. 5831 points on Cinebench R20, a few hundred above the 9900k, but well below AMD's 3900x. Yet it is much more expensive than the 3900x.
I'd only recommend this processor if you need 256 GB RAM support and the additional PCIe 3.0 lanes. Also, the power draw at 4.7 Ghz all core boost can reach 225W, so good cooling is an absolute must. Given the additional cost of cooling, power draw and lackluster performance, this should have been priced at $100 less.

You get this for the extra PCIE lanes, quad channel RAM, better memory controller, cheaper motherboards than a Threadripper, no need to buy a whole new (and expensive) cooler and TR3 CPU's cost way too much to entertain. These are good CPU's that still manage to take on AMD with more cores, which means that Intel's individual cores are still better. AMD wins on pure workstation performance due to having more cores, but you need more lanes to work with those cores for workstation use.

These reviews are funny but when it comes to true quality this cable can't be beat. The price is high of course which will shy away most people from buying but take it from me if you have the money to splurge and a great TV with a great audio system this is a wonderful addition to that collection. The cable is made from Silver which means it will always retain value. I own a Samsung 55F8000 with my Samsung F7500 Bluray player and it can't be beat I'm just glad they finally sell the 6.6 ft one on Best Buy since the 2 ft just isn't long enough for my mounted needs.

Been a Galactica fan since it first aired and got this copy on BB's Black Friday deal. Great picture transfer to 4k, but the picture is stretched to full screen from its native 4:3, which means some of the picture is lost. Could have upgraded to surround, only having a 2.0 audio track. Still worth the purchase.

Hello. I looked on IMDB because I too was curious about the original aspect ratio. It is still hard to decipher, but it shows the TV ratio as 4:3 and the THEATER ratio as 1:85:1. I guess this was shown in theaters, but I never knew it. Maybe it was in Europe. So which one is the real one? When things are shot on film, the ratio can be larger than what is shown. So widescreen could be the real one.
