The Sandlot was a great film. It brought back a lot of memories of playing baseball with the other neighborhood kids from my own childhood. The story really captures the essence of growing up.

This was one of the weaker entries in the Halloween series. Instead of taking off immediately following the events of Halloween Kills, it takes place four years afterward. The story is somewhat confusing with the addition of a new killer, but the movie is still watchable. And while I would say it's worth a look, I feel like they could have ended the series with a much better story.

I purchased this player because I only had DVD players in my house, and I needed a player to watch a Blu Ray that someone had given me. I was really impressed with the ease and efficiency of using this player on my computer, and I found it to be a worthwhile investment. It also plays my old DVD's and CD's very well.

Silverado is a great western featuring an all-star cast from the mid 1980's. It has a great story along with a lot of action, and any western enthusiast will not be disappointed. Kudos!

This was a great compilation of three of Clint Eastwood's greatest westerns. I had seen each of them at separate times, but having them together made a great viewing experience. The compilation brought back a lot of memories.
Bitingly and bitterly funny, Slap Shot has amassed a fervent cult following since its initial 1977 release and received one of the better early DVD releases. This 25th Anniversary Special Edition improves on that earlier edition with a remastered widescreen transfer and a number of worthy DVD extras. The image quality was already high on the previous release, but the source print has been remastered and cleaned up further without artificially brightening or perverting Victor J. Kemper's muted and dour cinematography. The Dolby Digital audio track has actually been improved upon more than the visual track and now sounds less compressed if played through a stereo system (while the two versions seem identical if played through a TV set). Real-life hockey players the Hanson brothers are fan favorites and they contribute the entertaining and often very funny audio commentary track even if it often deals more with their own experiences in hockey than the making of the movie. While in some ways a precursor to the type of rude, shocking comedies the Farrelly brothers are now famous for, the makers of Slap Shot knew that the reality of hockey and even of life in a dying town can be funnier than wild fiction. The Hanson brothers' commentary track and the disc's other highlights featuring their real life exploits bear this out. Slap Shot is one of the best sports movies ever made because it always aims for the truth rather than the legend. This 25th Anniversary Edition DVD is also being sold in a slip cased edition along with Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice, but that straight-to-video sequel doesn't hold a candle to the original.

"Slap Shot" was one of the most entertaining sports movies I've seen. I had never seen the movie prior to buying the DVD. I had heard good things about it, and I'm glad I was finally able to see the movie. The Hanson Brothers really make the movie that much more enjoyable. Kudos!
This excellent DVD release of Clint Eastwood's 1971 directorial debut Play Misty for Me will please newcomers and longtime fans alike. Loaded with DVD extras, the movie's print has been cleaned up and returned to its original aspect ratio with a good anamorphic widescreen transfer. Beautifully filmed on-location by master cinematographer Bruce Surtees, the movie also serves as a love letter to the rugged California coastal town of Carmel. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono audio track is excellent and the scenes set at the Monterey Jazz Festival are given new sonic life on this disc. There are numerous disc extras to select (though some of them are too slight to be worth mentioning), but by far the best is the hour-long look back at the making of the movie. Entitled "Play It Again: A Look Back at Play Misty for Me," it's full of interviews with Eastwood, female lead Jessica Walter (in an excellent, star-making performance), key producers, writers, and others. This documentary makes plain that Play Misty for Me set the stage for Eastwood's career as a talented, individualistic director who refuses to get sucked into Hollywood power games or pointless power trips. After this film, Eastwood continued to use little or no makeup for actors, naturalistic lighting, real locations over sets, rich jazz scores, and tight budgets. Made for well under a million dollars, Play Misty for Me was a big mainstream hit with general audiences that also earned praise from indie film godfather John Cassavetes. The DVD also features a too short featurette on Eastwood and famed action-suspense director Don Siegel. A mentor and collaborator, Siegel was even amusingly cast as a bartender, mainly so Eastwood could get help from him on the first couple of days of shooting (he ended up not needing any). Besides better-than-average production notes and movie stills, the disc also features a montage of potential poster art that ends with the finished product. As a side note, the disc also makes plain that Eastwood considers Fatal Attraction to be an uncredited remake of Play Misty for Me.

Great thriller! "Play Misty for Me" combines great writing and acting with a lot of suspense. Everyone in the movie did a good job of playing their roles. In the late 1980's, when "Fatal Attraction" was released, I saw a lot of similarity between that and "Play Misty for Me," which had come out at least 15 years prior. And for me, "Play Misty for Me" was by far the superior of the two movies.

I first saw Seven on cable while I was in high school many years ago. It's not the best movie in the world, but it does feature many talented actors in early roles, and it does have a good story to it. Watching Seven again really brought back a lot of memories.
In the distant future, a federation marshal arrives at a research lab on a remote planet where a monstrous genetic experiment is loose and feeding on the scientists who created it. Enter into the Forbidden World - an outrageous, sexy and violent exercise in Alien-like terror!

I first saw Forbidden World on cable as a senior in high school many years ago. Granted, it's not the best movie in the world, but it does have its merits. To me it's more of a "guilty pleasure," but it does make a great addition to my movie library.

Halloween Kills picks up immediately where Halloween (2018) left off. It begins with a 1978 flashback that blends perfectly with the original movie, and it features numerous characters from the original (some of whom are the original actors reprising their roles). From start to finish, this movie leaves the viewer intrigued, as well as anticipating the final installment, Halloween Ends, which is scheduled to be released next year.
